On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples as they were gathered together in prayer. They began speaking in other languages and praising God. When the crowd gathered, confused by what they were seeing and hearing, Peter stood up and preached to them about Jesus, telling them about his life, death, and resurrection. He told them this fulfillment of Joel's prophecy showed that Jesus was Lord and Messiah. Many in the crowd were convicted and asked what they must do to be saved, to which Peter told them to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus to receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
