7. Q4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
8. Blogging our coursework. With our blog we decided to categorise our work into 3 sections: Research Planning Construction By doing this we managed to keep organised when presenting our work .
9. Digital photography With our digital photography we did a variety of shots to choose from for our magazine advertisement and CD cover. By having a range of shots we were able to decide which shots worked best and were most suitable to the house style.
In order to make our music video follow the typical conventions of a teenage pop music video aimed at teenage girls we used similar techniques to the Miley Cyrus video ‘7 things’. As you can see we have used similar shots which include the artist singing directly into the camera, by doing this it shows how the singer is the main focus and comes across as vulnerable.
As the music video we had chosen to do was a pop video we researched what techniques were stereotypical of this kind of genre. Certain aspects we researched particularly were the costume of the artist and people featured in the video, props and storyline of the music video.
Our print base media, the CD cover and Magazine piece has been adjusted to fit into the genre of the music video and to target our audience. Faded colours such as the pink and grey have been used to reflect innocence, also pink is stereotypical ‘girly’ colour. Our artist has been posed in each material looking relaxed. This sweet look we are portraying is to attract young teenage girls. Like Miley Cyrus from the original ‘7 Things’ video, she was a role model to young girls therefore had to keep a good image.
By having audience feedback we was able to get positive feedback about what we did good within our music video, we was also able to get audience feedback which gave us an idea of what we could of done better as a group in order to improve the video. By getting feedback it allowed us as a group to reflect on the things we were most strong on as well as highlight what were our most weak points so we know how we could improve in the future.
The three categories we split our work into helped when coming to upload all of our work onto the blog. Firstly we added all of our research onto the blog which included the music video and CD cover analysis showing in detail what a CD cover and music video should contain. In order to get a brief idea of what our music video was going to be about we made a questionnaire up enabling us to find out what other people in the target demographic wanted to watch. After finding out what was expected from a pop video based at teenage girls we then went on to plan the music video. We did this by creating a proposal form including exactly what we was going to do and how in order to help us organise the production of the video. After creating a shot list and storyboard we was able to go on to the filming and editing of our film and the construction of the CD cover and magazine advert.
We experimented with the different angles and styles when it came to the pictures we had 2 different outfits to choose from and tried to capture a picture like from the ones that Miley Cyrus has. We had taken round about 30 pictures and therefore had a wide variety of pictures to choose from when it came to creating our magazine add and also c.d cover.
We used Photoshop to create our c.d cover and magazine add.By using various techniques such as fading and adding the text it helped us adapt to the house style and appeal to the targeted audience. We also went onto the sight Dafont.com to help find what font would look best to fit the house style. The site had a wider range of fonts for us to choose from. We managed to find the right one that suited our house style best. We tried to model the same writing that Miley Cyrus uses herself and I think that we managed to achieve a look that is very similar to herself.
