2. Ethics Of The Chicago Heat Wave
An Ethical Analysis of the Chicago Heat Wave MPH 603 Ethical Political Issues in
public Health Benedictine University Salma Ali Abstract The 1995 Chicago Heat
Wave was the worst weather related disaster in the United States. Temperatures rose
to dangerous high records which cost the lives of over 700 people. The conditions
that contributed to such a high death toll were not just from the natural disaster, but
lack of proper planning. Unfortunately the city of Chicago had no official weather
disaster plan in place to handle the crisis. The failures of that day illustrate that
officials, the media, and the community did not fulfill their ethical responsibility to
save the lives that were lost. In his book Heat Wave Eric... Show more content on

Any ethical evaluation must describe, specify, evaluate, synthesize, provide
recommendations and monitor any intervention. Unfortunately, during the
Chicago heat wave of 1995 many minority communities were neglected and there
was a collective failure of key members due to lack of communication, loss of
electricity and lack of awareness. The case study by Klinenberg will use ethical
principles and the systematic framework to highlight what went wrong and what
could have been done differently. Description Specification Heat waves are often
overlooked as an important natural disaster because they do not have the
immediate effects of other disasters like hurricanes and tornadoes. However, over
the last fifteen years, more people have died from heat waves compared to all other
weather related disasters combined (Institute of Medicine and National Research
Council, 2005). Heat waves are more dangerous in cities like Chicago because the
buildings and paved roads stores heat and it dissipate very slowly (Institute of
Medicine and National Research Council, 2005). The Chicago heat wave resulted in
temperatures of 106 degrees and the actual heat index was almost 126 degrees. As a
result of these high temperatures and humidity, over 700 people were left dead in
3. Diesel Emission Regulations
Are EPA Diesel Emission regulations regulating Truck owners?
As a result of EPA regulations, today s diesel engines are more efficient than ever
before seen in large and midsized trucks. Certain regulations restrict truck owners
from using certain truck models, because of excess diesel emission. Increasing
drastically as technology improves, cars and trucks produce less and less diesel
exhausts and emissions. But because diesel engines can operate for 30 years or more,
millions of older, dirtier engines are still in use, (Epa.Gov). Reducing exposure to
diesel exhaust from these engines is especially important for the preservation of
human health and the environment. According to the EPA, the United States
Environmental Protection Agency, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Volkswagen company put sensors in the emission component, so when tested, the
examiner sees that the car meets emission standards. But because the sensors are
to meet U.S emission standards, the car itself can be modified to ignore the sensor
s override and make the car believe it was in use. TFL motors was curious about the
scam, so they decided to put a Jetta TDI turbo diesel on an AWD Dyno, to confuse
the car into thinking it s on the street, not being checked for emissions. Being in
emissions mode, the AWD dyno lost horsepower and torque, but without the
sensors active the car produced excess diesel exhaust, going over the EPA
regulated limit. The car itself was able to perform at a higher level without the
sensors active, proving reason to hide the fact that excess exhaust is produced.
Certain companies realize the regulations hold their products back, so to promote
the fuel efficiency and or horsepower of the car, they would gladly hide the fact
that their cars are emitting excess diesel exhaust. Some ways to prevent excess
exhaust would be to install EGR coolers, or to buy tuners for your engine s valves.
But many professional truckers tend to stick with rolling coal. Rolling coal can
happen by making a smoke switch, or removing emission controls on truck models,
and adding a tuner to produce fine smoke build ups. Diesel exhaust is actually less
harmful then a
4. Ignorance In Oedipus The King
Ignorance is safe in a multitude of ways and is pioneered in everyone, but when one
substitutes ignorance for knowledge, pain and suffering often prevail as the
punishment. This is shown throughout the tragedy of Oedipus the King. Because of
the murder of king Lauis, Thebes is suffering, and Oedipus becomes prideful and
tries to convince the townspeople that he will solve the mystery. So, after a heated
argument with Creon and Tiresias, he decides to seek out the shepherd who witnessed
the event. Not only does Oedipusgain the knowledge of the fact that he murdered
Lauis, he uncovers that he is his wife s son. As a result, he gouges his eyes out. The
knowledge he gains is his ignorance lost, and he ends up suffering in the end.
Therefore, the overarching theme of Oedipus the Kingis that ignorance is safer than
knowledge because it shields people from the pain that comes with knowlege;
however, its is only a temporary solace because obtaining knowledge is often done
at the expense that the safety of ignorance brings. Ignorance shields people from
pain and suffering because it creates a temporary solace. Oedipus at the start of the
tragedy prides himself as the person who solved the SphinxВґs riddle and became
king. But shortly after, a plague descends upon the people of Thebes. Oedipus then
confronts his subjects and willfully curses the person who brought the plague to
Thebes, which also happened to be the person that slayed King Lauis (previous king).
But, Oedipus goes so
5. Monothelitism as Opposed to Dyothelitism
Monothelitism is a subject concerning Jesus having two natures but one will. The
opposing, which is commonly known as Dyothelitism, is the idea that Jesus has both
two natures and two wills. Monothelitism was a heresy that occurred during the 7th
century. (Chapman) This controversy started with Emperor Heraclius who wanted to
unite people under one idea. With the help of Sergius of Constantinople, they got
Pope Honorius to agree with the idea that Christ had one energy. Pope Honorius,
however, was later condemned of heresy. Sophronius, a monk who lived in Palestine,
disagreed with the compromise that was made, he made it clear that he thought that
Dyothelitism was an important aspect of Christianity. In 638, the Emperor responded
to Sophronius ideas with an edict titled Exposition of the Faith which said that
people were no longer permitted to discuss the matter, and that Christ had one will.
( History of the Christian Church... ) There was support for this idea, though there
was resistance as well. Specifically, Maximus Confessor and Pope Martinus. These
two were very strong in their position of support for Dyothelitism. In 648, Emperor
Constans II made an edict titled Type that he hoped would create peace. The edict
called for silence on the topic that was being debated, and took a neutral view on the
subject. The emperor was later informed that Monothelitismhad been declared a
heresy. Constans II, in response to this, imprisoned the pope and made sure he

I visit the Springdale Nursing Home Facility. The people there were nice and I
actually volunteered there to pursue my training in becoming a CNA. My mother
used to work there a long time ago and she enjoyed it, but now everything has
changed. At the agency, their mission is to care for the elderly and treat them with
care. The agency allows extend care for their clients. They care for their clients as
part of their own family. They help and reteach them how to do everyday living.
There were some healthissues, but instead of running around with their heads cut off.
They treated the clients and made sure that everyone was okay. I can say that

with some elderly individuals. They were so happy to me and were anxious to
speak with me and be around me. They told me stories about their life and what
their occupation was before they fell ill. I got to speak to a lot of veterans which
was unique and interesting because it made me realize the type of counselor, I
would to be and how I can change others life. I was able to feed some residents
there and they were so appreciative and humble. One veteran told me he love the
activities because it reminded him of his childhood. We played balloon volleyball
and bingo. I felt like a resident because of the interaction. Some residents had a
different prospective of the facility and said how they would be better in their own
home and have freedom. Some felt like they were in a prison not being able to go
anywhere. I noticed some got to walk freely around the building, but others were
locked in. A few of the staff members would say that some residents are crazy and
they do not know what they be saying, but I know that it is consider abuse if a

Word count: 1108 Summary: Teen depression is a serious issue that plagues the
nation. The 3rd leading cause of death for young adults and teens is suicide, which
can often be the result of depression. Olivia Reardon is one such victim of teen
depression. Beginning high school, Olivia was Captain of the lacross and field
hockey team as well as an honors student. This all changed when Olivia turned 15.
Her mother slowly began to notice the subtle signs of depression in her daughter.
These included irritability, anger, and even rage. Olivia was in a dower mood often
and had lost interest in things which normally excited her. She handled this by
bottling up her emotions. She thought that this was her problem, and she didn t need

Therapy is always the first line of defense. Depression is a physical illness that
affects the mind just like appendicitis affects the body. The social stigma that
surrounds mental health issues is a barrier that keeps patients from treatment and
is something we as a society have to address. If you have a firearm in your home
and you are afraid your family member may be suffering from depression, secure it.
It is of the utmost importance that the person afflicted does not have a means to
harm themselves or others. If you wish to use holistic approaches to combat
depression, they are best used to supplement medicine and therapy. Light therapy
and vitamins are effective supplements. Response: I have a very close friend who
has tried to take his own life after a battle with depression. One thing that I think is
overlooked is the roles anxiety and internalization of emotion play in depression.
Suicidal thoughts and actions are often induced by the desire to escape extreme
anxiety by any means necessary. This is how my friend described it to me. He also
said that he felt like a bother to everyone and that his perpetual existence was only
a burden on his family. These thoughts combined into a perfect storm. Luckily, he
reached out to his parents and was hospitalized for several days. Many of our close
friends and I were shocked to find out about this turn of events. We had no idea he
was going through this deep, dark depression. The amount of friends and family

lot from just that alone. I remember all the steps I took to get there from the
interviewing process to even starting with something as simple as a resume. It felt
so great just obtaining the job through hard work and dedication. It was the
beginning of my senior year where nearly everyone had a job and I was pretty
much discouraged. I felt like I would never get a job. My schedule was pretty
flexible so I couldn t understand why I wasn t getting hired by anyone. I sat for a

9. Essay about Spanish Armada
During the age of exploration, the great European nations fought amongst
themselves for their share of the new world. There were constant battles over the
lands of the Americas and Africa. The two main religions of Europe were trying to
spread its reach to new parts of the world and each had countries pushing each
religion as much as they could. The Anglo Spanish War between England and Spain
during 1585 1604 is a great example of this, although it was never official declared a
war. One thing that made this war quite note worthy was the Spanish Armada, a fleet
of 130 armed ship versus the well trained navy of England. It is possible the world

The church reacted by excommunicating Luther causing many to learn of Luther s
ideas. This was a backfire on the church because his ideas spread even more
because of how the church condemned him. His ideas found a home in Germany s
many different regions. The change of Europe came like a hurricane; the church
was not ready for this to take hold. Countries like Sweden, Switzerland, Hungry
embraced this new type of Christianity (Greer, Lewis 400 335). Germany ran with
new religion as a way to gain back power in Europe and break the hold that the
church and the other European countries had on them (Spitz 59 192). The church
lost its power in many different part of Europe, even King Henry the 8th who at the
beginning of the revolution condemned Luther s attacks at the church, eventually
turned his own state to Protestant and named himself head, through the Act of
Supremacy in 1536 (Spitz 236 283). England s change to Protestant religion is one
of the main causes of the Anglo Spanish War. King Henry the 8th constant changes
in wives caused many to have a legit claim to the English throne. There was civil
war in England between the Catholics and the Protestants. The Catholic tried to
place Mary, King Henry 8th first daughter to the throne and was successful (Spitz
236 283). She married King Phillip the 2nd of Spain. She tried to bring England back
to Catholicism and killed many

Are you a shooter who is into long range targets? Do you like to hunt antelope or
other game that requires long range shots? If so, you already know that having a
good scope is often the difference between success and failure. Finding a scope
that has all the features you want at a price you can afford can be difficult, but I
have discovered a fantastic product. It s the Bushnell Elite Tactical G2 6 24x50 FFP
Reticle ERS RifleScope. This scope comes with all the features long range shooters
look for at an affordable price. Check out these great features:
Magnification
The Elite Tactical scope has magnification from 6 times to 24 times. This gives you
effective ranges from 50 yards out to 1000 yards, depending upon the shooter s
preference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bushnell has two features to increase light transmission in the Elite Tactical scope.
The first is the oversize 50mm objective lens. A larger objective lens, or opening,
simply allows the scope to gather more light. This makes vision in low light
conditions much better. Second, Bushnell applies their Ultra Wide Band Coating to
the lenses to cut down light reflection. Both of these features combine to maximize
this scope s light gathering ability.
Weatherproof
As people with glasses know, moisture is the enemy of all optics. Rifle scopes are
no exception. Bushnell s Rainguard HD lens coating repels moisture to prevent
blurring and fogging, even in the rain. On the inside of the scope, a nitrogen purge
acts as a barrier to moisture to prevent fogging as well. A little rain isn t going to
affect your shooting with this scope.
Parallax Adjustment
All high quality scopes have an adjustment to eliminate errors due to parallax. The
Elite Tactical has a convenient adjustment on the side that enables the shooter to
adjust parallax to the desired shooting distance from a shooting position. This is a
great feature that most precision shooters will
11. The Importance Of Violence In Sunday Bloody Sunday
Evil is extremely apparent in the world today, but for how long will people stand
idly by as it continues to worsen? The song Sunday Bloody Sunday, written by U2,
suggests that the only valid response to the violence that occurred in Northern Ireland
in the 1970s is condemnation. The writers not only condemn the brutality of that
time, but, in a broader sense, condemn violence as a whole, showing that there are no
positive outcomes to violence, only more violence. Therefore, people must rise up,
united against the violence that exists in this world today.
An important aspect that is important to understand, regarding the theme of Sunday
Bloody Sunday, is the historical context around which it was written. Although U2
wrote the song specifically about an event that took place on January 30, 1972, or
Bloody Sunday, the violence was a part of a more complicated and long running issue
between Ireland and England. This violence also took place as a result of a civil
rights movement in Ireland that occurred from 1968 to 1969. Many of these activists
looked up to people like Martin Luther King, Jr. for inspiration about peaceful protest.
Nonetheless, in 1969, after multiple occasions of violence at protests, the British
troops assumed riot duty (Pringle and Larson). This event became one of the inciting
incidents that led to the violence that happened on Bloody Sunday, only a few years
later.
The issues with protesting, despite the presence of British troops, did not
12. Resident Advisor Case Study
(1) When I think of the resident advisor position I consider it a position of great
responsibility. This reason is because as a RA one is responsible for the safety of not
just the people on their hall, but also the people in the entire building. One has to
efficiently do room inspections to make sure people don t possess things that could
cause fires, or anything else that might endanger the other people living within that
residents hall. They are there to inform residents on changes or upcoming events
happening within that residents hall and on campus. Other responsibilities I think

I know people who loved their RAs, and I know people who absolutely hated their
RAs. So as an RA one has to be prepared for the best and worst when it comes to
supervising adults with different attitudes. As a resident advisor one can also be
viewed as a mediator between residents to prevent or settle disputes. For instance,
if someone is being too loud during quiet hours the RA is there to address him or
her, and ensure the rules are being enforced. To prevent possible confrontation
amongst residents I think it is better for the RA to go over, and tell them to keep it
down for the sake of the rest of the people on hall. (2) While staying on the 3rd
floor of Hawkes, Connor and Lauren were my resident advisors. I always
appreciated how friendly, fun, and informative they were. They always kept us

I was locked out of my room or had any concerns one or the other was always

Introduction
One of the most important management activities in today s economy is to improve
performance, especially labor productivity, because almost every manufacturing
process involves human work. Not only the physical work, but also the mental
manpower is crucial to achieve the objectives of the organization. Increased
productivity includes greater motivation, personal participation and better
performance of work in the foodservice organization. For institutional food service,
improving labor productivity can be more challenging because of budget pressure and
strict regulations. Many studies have been done on working environment,

The Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS) recorded the degree and
intensity of training activities in the firm they studied; and it was the key feature in
this study, because CVST solved the arguments of adding up a variety of economic
activities with wide differences in terms of capital or labor intensity (Sala Silva,
2012). Besides CVTS, intensity in research and development, job training process,
degree of capitalization, and general education were also considered as factors in
their calculation model, so the conclusion was able to apply to other general
professions.
Accordingly, human capital is also important for food service industry and it can
promote economic growth dramatically. The result of study from Sala and Silva can
be applied to food service industry as well. Proper vocational training before and
during the employment can definitely increase labor productivity. Training for new
employees, such as food safety, skills of handwashing, policy and skills of using
certain machines, will help new employees to fit in work quickly and reduce the
chances of operational error. Based on what we learned in class, improvements in
design and operation of kitchen equipment is one of the applications of productivity
improvement. Continued vocational training can inform employees the updated
information about computerized machines, menu, new policy and regulations and
customers feedback as well.
18. The Ambiguity Of Biological Toxins
Nelsen et al. (2014) presents and discusses what the authors believe to be the
inconsistencies among the definitions of poisons, venoms, and toxins, as well as the
conflation, or mixing, of these terms within the literature. The three primary classes
of toxins, biological, anthropogenic, and environmental, are defined and distinguished
so that the authors can further discern the biological toxins using their own
classification scheme (Nelsen et al. 2014). Nelsen et al. (2014) presents the necessity
of their three class scheme, which they proposed due to the terminological
inconsistencies within and among the literature on biological toxins. I think
implementing a new term to detract from the misconstruction of existing
toxicological definitions would be constructive, especially with the proposed
corresponding binomial classification system. This review aims to discuss the
breadth and functionality of the Nelsen et al. (2014) categorization of toxins.
Through their new categorical binomial nomenclature system, based on source,
delivery mechanism, and storage of toxins, Nelsen et al. (2014) introduces a novel
term within the biological toxins to further reduce the ambiguity of toxicological
definitions such as venom and poison. Toxungen, or a toxic ointment as stated by
Nelsen et al. (2014), is a toxic substance which is actively delivered to the surface of
the antagonizing organism and affects without the necessitation of a wound. With the
introduction of the term, toxugen,
19. Taking a Look at Government Surveillance
Government Surveillance
The primary goal of the government since its founding has been to ensure the safety
of citizens. It has developed an array of methods, procedures, and systems to achieve
that goal. Throughout the years there has been some form of criticism regarding its
methods. The most recent cause for public disapproval and concern stems from
government surveillance brought to the light by former contractor of the National
Security Agency (NSA), Edward Snowden. Snowden has brought attention to the
surveillance being performed by the government that involves the United States.
Surveillance could significantly deteriorate relations with other countries and destroy
the trust that is held between the citizens and government leading to the collapse in
stability and possibly the country itself. The potential for surveillance being used as a
tool for the protection of citizens can prove to be monumental, but is vastly
outweighed by the negative repercussions it could inflict if misused.
Edward Snowden, a former employ in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and a
former contractor of NSA has fled to Russia after releasing sensitive information on
the NSA surveillance to the Washington Post (Gellman). The domino effect created
by Snowden s actions has caused uproar among citizens. The level of the information
that was released by Snowden was not every day, common knowledge, but it was
information that normally is withheld even from the special court that governs

One thing connective tissue can cause is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the wear and
tear of cartilage on the end of your bones; commonly your hands, knees and hips.
To keep homeostasis cells divide and replenish themselves. As you age more so in
the elderly cells that maintain healthy cartilage go to sleep. When this happens the
cells cannot properly perform their task of keeping cartilage healthy and strong.
Also, cells in this sleep like state have what is called shortened telomeres. This
occurs when cells divide over and over again. These shortened telomeres are what
make the cells go into a sleep like state. Due to these changes in the cartilage this
can cause great pain, discomfort and stiffness. It can also cause mobility issues in
the elderly. This puts the elderly at high risk for falls and ultimately other possible
injuries. This can be very frustrating as it can affect their independence and ability to
perform everyday tasks. There are medicines, therapies and surgery to help with
osteoarthritis. People with osteoarthritis can lead a very fulfilling life when this
disease is treated correctly. Epithelial tissue helps protect your body from moisture
loss, bacteria and internal injuries. A very common disease you can get is asthma.
Allergens may interact and injure bronchial epithelium which can lead to long term

the medieval period. In Bisclavret, Marie used the werewolf to show how animals
lack reason. In Yonec, Marie uses the hawk man to show how animal natures are
correlated with the lower passions. Also in the medieval period animals were thought
to not have souls. The soulis defined as a person s moral or emotional nature or sense
of identity. This point is interesting because the body encapsulates the soul, in a way
that it hides your true identity, whether you are a human or a human who changes
into an animal. When Bisclavret and the knight changed their physical natures, they
did not suddenly lack a soul but their soul was preserved. The body just acts as a

She does this to add a dramatic element to the stories. In our minds, we
subconsciously create positive connotations to anything we deem as beautiful or
good looking. But when she develops the characters person more indeptly she
reveals their negative attributes. As readers, we are caught off guard because a
person s looks are a kind of perceived identity. For instance, Bisclavret was described
as a handsome knight, but later it is revealed that he is a werewolf and for three days
out the week he lives in the deepest part of the woods and feeds off anything he can
capture. Also, his wife is initially described as worthy and attractive in appearance.
However, although she doesn t transform into an animal she has a beastly side that is
later revealed in the Lais. Her inner beast is revealed when she betrays her husband,
the fear she has of her husbands condition is understandable but she fails to come
to terms with it. Instead she sells her body to a knight and convinces him to steal
her husband s clothes, knowing that would entrap him in his werewolf form. He
would in turn receive her hand in married as payment. By accepting her proposal, he
allowed his beastly side to get the best of him and condemning Bisclavret to remain
naked in his beast like
22. The Statue Of Athena Parthenos
It was dedicated to the city s deity Athena. The temple was made to give a statue
made in Athena s honor a home. When Athena led the Greek forces during the
Persian wars, the people of Athens thought the world needed to see her success
through a statue. Pheidias began sculpting the statue in 447 BCE. The statue would
remain the city s symbol for thousands of years until it completely disappeared from
the historical record during the Late Antiquity period. Some sculpture details and
descriptions of the statue allowed the piece to be accurately reconstructed.
The Parthenon was built to protect the Statue of Athena Parthenos. It was built in
Athens, Greece on the hill of the Acropolis . With the supervision of Phidias, Ictinus
and Callicrates designed the temple. The foundation of the temple was made out of
limestone and the columns were made out of pentelic marble. The Parthenon
construction cost the Athenian treasury 469 silver talents. 1 It is unknown how much
money that is, but we do know that 1 talent was enough to pay a crew on a warship
for a month.1
Temples in ancient Greece were built to only be viewed from the outside. The
Parthenon was designed to create a smooth transition from the inside to the outside.
At the entrance to the Parthenon, if a viewer s gaze went upward, the viewer would
see the birth of Athena. As the viewer s gaze beings to shift downward, they would
see the arrephores folding the peplos among the Olympian gods. Below this, the

24. Wound Infection
2.1.1.Most common pathogenic strains that cause wound infection
The most common pathogenic strains that cause wound infection is Staphylococcus
aureus (35%), Escherichia coli (15%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (13%) and other
bacteria (37%) (Amit Kumar Gupta et al., 2015). In another study, Staphylococcus
aureus has been reported as the major cause of wound infection with (24.2%),
followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (21.4 %), Escherichia coli (14.8 %) and
another different organism (39.6 %) (Jyoti Sangwan et al., 2016). Staphylococcus
aureus (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is gram positive bacteria and
can be a lethally opportunistic pathogen or human commensal, it is one of the leading
organisms causing a variety of hospital acquired infection and community acquired

skin infection caused by MRSA is in a continuous increasing (Nataraj et al., 2014).

bacteria and are often severe, life threatening and difficult to treat due to it has an
innate resistance to many of antibiotic and disinfection (Bangera D et al., 2015;
Wendell Lou B. Ladion et al., 2015). P. aeruginosa recently acquired significant as
one of the most important organisms that cause nosocomial infection due to having
an ability to survive in hospital environments, in addition, it has the ability to
develop resistance against many antimicrobial agents (Nagoba et al., 2013). Wound
infection caused by P. aeruginosa rapidly deteriorating and lead to systemic spread

gram negative bacteria and considered as a member of the Enterobacteriaceae, it is
innocuous resident in a gastrointestinal tract, but at the same time has the ability to

25. Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is an animated feature film by Pixar and features the voices of
celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Geoffrey Rush to draw both young and old
viewers. The director, Andrew Stanton, and the animators, Bob Peterson and David
Reynolds, create an awesome experience for the audience to see and hear the colours
and sounds of the ocean. One hundred minutes of adventure introduces viewers to a
range of sea creatures each with an unexpected and loveable personality.
Finding Nemo has an unexpected twist, at the very beginning, when Marlin (Albert
Brooks) and his wife s eggs are attacked by a vicious shark and only Nemo s
remains. This result in a shock to the viewer, leaving them wanting to know and
understand more. The movie quickly jumps forward from the negativity however, to
an excited Nemo (Alexander Gould) on his way to school for the first time while his
father is warning him about not straying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters speech seems to be almost inviting whenever the audience is
introduced to a new character or setting. The language is suitable for children to hear,
with it containing no inappropriate language or crude jokes. All the sea creatures
possessed an Australian accent that captured the heart of Australian s perfectly, even
if the voice actors weren t Australian.
The voice over acting seems to fit perfectly to the personality of each character in
Finding Nemo. A massive standout is Ellen DeGeneres as Dory because she can
perform a range of emotions extremely well. After speculation that she could not
deliver on dramatic scenes, she felt the need to try harder because she knew she
was capable of more. Her first trial reading of heartfelt scenes only needed a few
small adjustments and edits before the final cut. Overall it was an outstanding
performance by Ellen DeGeneres because she was someone who was doubted so

26. Impact On Technology And Technology
The development of technology is upon the many fields of knowledge, including
historical, language learning, mathematical, etc. Every single moment of our day is
affected due to the inventions of years ago, from turning on a light switch to cooking
breakfast. An invention that still affects us today and will continue to do so is a
computer. Although the computer continues to modernize as time goes by, it has
positively impacted the way a student s technology literacy knowledge and skills are
developed for professional success. Writing tools, such as pen and paper, has
modernized to meet our essential needs in a classroom environment. Technology
continues to advance so much that we could not live a day without it like a writer
cannot live without writing. Although personal computers were not initially meant
for word processing either, through that has become one of their primary functions
(Baron 646). When computers were first introduced in a classroom environment,
teachers feared students would forget how to properly spell, but now teachers
complain if students do not double check their spelling when turning in their papers.
A student s literacy knowledge and skills development are not only advancing in
spelling, but their vocabulary is expanding as well. Success in literacy is measured
by what a student can do with it, not what they know about texts and print. Having a
computer in hand gives us access to synonyms and/or antonyms along with many
more tools developing a
27. Essay about The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael
Pollan
One does not necessarily expect books about food also to be about bigger ideas like
oppression, spirituality, and freedom, yet Pollan defies expectations. Pollan begins
with an exploration of the food production system from which the vast majority of
American meals are derived. This industrial food chain is mainly based on corn,
whether it is eaten directly, fed to livestock, or processed into chemicals such as
glucose and ethanol. Pollan discusses how the humble corn plant came to dominate
the American diet through a combination of biological, cultural, and political factors.
The role of petroleum in the cultivation and transportation the American foodsupply
is also discussed. A fast food meal is used to illustrate the end result of the... Show

As a culture and as individuals, we no longer seem to know what we should and
should not eat. When the old guides of culture and national cuisine and our mothers
advice no longer seem to operate, the omnivore s dilemma returns and you find
yourself where we do today utterly bewildered and conflicted about one of the most
basic questions of human life: What should I eat? We re buffeted by contradictory
dietary advice: cut down on fats one decade, cut down on carbs the next. Every day s
newspaper brings news of another ideal diet, wonder nutrient, or poison in the food
chain. Hydrogenated vegetable oils go from being the modern alternatives to butter to
a public health threat, just like that. Food marketers bombard us with messages that
this or that food is heart healthy or is part of a nutritious meal . Without a stable
culture of food to guide us, the omnivore s dilemma has returned with a vengeance.
We listen to scientists, to government guidelines, to package labels to anything but
our common sense and traditions. The most pleasurable of activities eating has
become heavy with anxiety. The irony is, the more we worry about what we eat, the
less healthy and fatter we seem to become.
The answers Pollan offers to the seemingly straightforward question posed by this
book have profound political, economic, psychological, and even moral implications
for all of us. Beautifully written and thrillingly argued, The Omnivore s Dilemma
promises to change the
28. Why Were The Non-Aligned Movement
Introduction
Why were the non aligned movement made? And what did they do? How did they
help in the cold war? What did they do to stop the cold war? And did their efforts
work as planned?
The Non Aligned movement is a movement which represents developing countries
and their thoughts and interests about the world. The Non Aligned movement was
made when people were fighting for independence and when the colonial system
was breaking down. This movement is used by many countries as a voice to express
themselves because in many other alliances or movements they are oppressed by the
more developed and grown economies. The Non aligned movement (NAM) has 115
120 members which make up more than half the population of the world.

At this meeting the leaders decided what were their main goals and aims and they
also decided what the criteria need to be for a country to enter this movement. Here
are the criteria word by word as they are written in the source:
1.The country should have adopted and independent policy based on the co existence
of states with different political and social systems and on non alignment or should
be showing a trend in favour of such a policy.
2.The country concerned should be consistently supporting the movement of national
independence.
3.The country should not be a member of a multilateral military alliance concluded in
the context of great power conflicts.
4.If a country has bilateral military agreement with a great power, or is a member of
a regional defence pact, the agreement or pact should not be one deliberately
concluded in the context of great power conflict.
5.If it has conceded military bases to a foreign power the concession should have not
been made in the context of great power
29. Renewable Energy Sources For Clean Energy
As of right now China is the leader in clean energy usage. They have been
dramatically increasing their spending on clean/renewable energy source such as
wind turbines, solar photovoltaic cells, and water turbines. This rise of renewable
and clean energy in china has come with a hefty price. China has spent almost $500
billion on renewable energysources. With this increase of clean energyChina is also
reducing their use of coal and trying to get more coal plants to clean the coal so
that there will not be as many pollutant coming from the plants. China has made a
plan for all this to be possible, it will span over 5 years and it is planned to cause
20% of all energy used to be from renewable energy sources. Because of Chinas
determined plan to make a big change in clean/renewable energy they have become
the leader in clean and renewable energy usage, over doubling the amount of energy
the US has produced from renewable energy sources.
One very controversial aspect to the use of these renewable energy sources is how
they are changing the landscapes and some even displacing animals and humans form
their homes. One example of this is the Three Gorges Dam, a hydroelectric dam that
reaches across the Yangtze River. The dam is located near the town of Sandouping
in the Hubei province. When the dam was being built China had to relocate over
1.24 million people because the water that would be blocked from flowing down the
river would rise and flood many of the towns by the river.
30. Math Anxiety and Efficacy Scores
Students often struggle with the learning of math concepts; a love hate relationship
has existed for decades between math and students as they know they need to
understand and have a sound foundation of math skills, yet, they toil to reach a
proficiency level and fall short of their goal. This lack of confidence and anxiety in
learning math concepts has created a lack of self efficacyamong math learners, which
fosters a reduction in a desire to learn and use math skills. As education changes at an
increasingly rapid speed not seen before, educators must bring to their students
cutting edge best practices and technology to reach learning goals and build interest
in needed math areas.
Deficits in math proficiency are a matter of national concern (Beal, Walles, Arroyo,
Woolf, 2007). Students are struggling to pass statewide subject area tests, reach
suitable ACT scores, and/or enter college without enrolling in remediation classes in
math. According to the American Institutes for Research, American students score
well below comparable students in other countries (Phillips, 2009). Deficiencies in
math scores tend to slip as students progress from one grade to the next. This chain
of events creates students who select non based math studies as they enter high
school and college which can create real voids in our work force.
Math anxiety hinders students mathematics learning, thinking positive about math,
and feeling calm. This fear causes low self esteem,
31. Cultures And Values Of Culture, Culture And Culture
Culture is a body of characteristics such as beliefs, social norms and ethnic
background shared in a region by a population of people. Development and discipline
can be influenced by culture. Culture contains values, norms, prejudice, social
influence and human activity. Values and beliefs hold high importance. An example
would be religion, in many cultures religion is of high value (Kerfoot). Norms set an
expectation to what is socially acceptable. Prejudice is formed in culture. This bias
can be generalized ideas formed off popular belief and tolerance (Wilson 2008).
Social influence comes from media outlets and world leaders. Culture guides human
activity. Being culturally aware of Russian culture, history and region... Show more

lower global rate include lowered production cost and increased net output for
national economy. A stable economic home front improves a nation and even

In 1896, the New Women, whom were to depict the twentieth century female, came
to P.T. Barnum s circus (Davis 83). Women performers proudly displayed rippling
bodies while demonstrating impressive feats of strength and handling dangerous
animals. Most importantly, the circus was a comfortable space for women who felt
alienated by social norms. In an era when a majority of women s roles were still
circumscribed by Victorian ideals of domesticity and feminine propriety, circum
women s performances celebrated female power, thereby representing a startling
alternative to social norms. In their elaborate advertising campaigns, proprietors used
gender, race, class, and representations of empire to create an irresistible sexual
striptease under the guise of clean family entertainment Since American women
generally wore full skirts and long sleeved shirtwaists at this time, virtually anything
short of that coverage should be constructed as nude, including the wearing of
leotards, tights, or dresses above the knee. Showmen s constant emphasis on female
performers lives, loves and body hugging tights became yet another way to talk about
sex (Davis 85). Antebellum circus audience members targeted circus women as
disreputable. Most objections centered on costuming. Although tights and leotards
were not worn until after the Civil War, antebellum payers wore stockings under
knee length skirts a far cry from the proper, long sleeved, floor length dress of the
period. Purity reformers and audiences both frequently thought that all female
entertainers were prostitutes because they exposed their bodies for pay. Even
audience members were often treated with suspicion. During the first half of the
nineteenth century, American theater managers commonly reserved the third tier of
seats, or upper gallery, for prostitutes and their customers as a site of sexual
exchange (Davis 86). Because they were often banned by law for their bodily
34. Blade Runner Analysis
Blade Runner , the film adaption, directed by Ridley Scott in 1982, of the 1968
novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. This essay will
explore the meaning of the Tyrell slogan More human than human by following
Deckard on Earth in Los Angeles 2019 as a futuristic, dark and depressing industrial
metropolis by looking into and discussing what is real and what is not, the good and
the bad and why replicants are more appealing than humans. This essay will analyse
and pull apart the Blade Runnerworld, the condition of humanity and what it really
means to be human.
Throughout Blade Runner the directors use many symbols, representing the real
and not real to add more meaning and they don t show every detail of the story,
giving the audience the ability to interpret and make their own ideas and opinions.
Something that wasn t real in the film was the use of a unicorn. Deckard dreams of
a unicorn and then in the end an origami unicorn is left for him by Gaff, which
means he knows Deckard s memories bringing up the question on whether Deckard
is real (human) or nor real (replicant). Although real, the humans on earth aren t
seen as real, most are nameless and faceless, often covering their faces or are seen
blurred in the background. To Tyrell those left of Earth aren t seen as important so
they re not seen or treated as people.
Throughout Blade Runner both the good and the bad are Juxtaposed throughout
film. Deckard is promoted as the good guy throughout the film. He s on Earth
under the orders of Tyrell on the Off World colony to get rid of the replicants (the
bad guys ). Deckard has a job that he is doing for the greater good of the world and
off world while The Replicants are selfish. They are trying to increase their life
span of 4 years, they are doing it for themselves and are represented as the bad
guys. There is good and bad when it comes to how the humans use the Replicants
and the differences of how the genders are treated. Replicants are the perfect human
specimens made specifically for their jobs, so while the men are put to more
manual work, women are exploited for their bodies, working as pleasure models or
are just submissive to men as it s the social construct. As

I definitely dislike Bill Sikes, mainly due to his malicious behaviour and abusive

hurts people for his own benefit. He is fully conscious about this, yet doesn t seem to

While people of Chinese descent appear to be less likely to suffer from conditions
such as obesity and high blood pressure, they actually more likely to experience the
degenerative diseases associated with these conditions. Before adjustment, Chinese
Americans are shown to experience hypertension at a lower rate than Whites.
However once adjusted for age, BMI, prevalence of diabetes, and smoking , East
Asians showed 30% increased likelihood for hypertensionand 20% increased
incidence of stroke compared to Whites (Sucher, 2017). According to a study by Dr.

people is poor diet, specifically regarding sodium intake. The typical Chinese diet one

One positive thing that I learned from this experience exists in the importance of
community and hospitality that needs to be present within a church for it to run
properly. After the event occurred, many people from our church reached out to the
family of the fallen man and offered to cook meals, babysit, and any other thing that
needed to be done. In addition, I saw the importance of pastoral care that my pastor
exhibited to the fallen man, his family, and all of the congregants that were worried
for the welfare of the man. My pastor made visits to the Hospital and gave the entire
church updates on the well being of the man in the hospital. Another thing that
positively influenced me through this incident is the importance of communication
between leadership. During and after the event the church staff communicated clearly
and confidently to the church and to each other about what roles they should play in
the situation. The staff delegated jobs and responsibilities quite thoroughly and did
not leave a rock unturned. A few negative aspects I learned from this event exists in
that concept that health and nutrition needs to be taught in American churches. Too
many evangelical Christians are overweight and unhealthy and I believe that Christ
came not to only redeem our souls, but to redeem our bodies.

Until the early 1980s, psoriasis was believed to be a disease primarily of epidermal

adaptive immunity are crucial in the initiation and maintenance of psoriatic plaques.

incorporation of unidentified antigens by APCs in the epidermis and dermis. This
process involves binding of the antigens to the MHC on the APC surface and the
APC migrates to the lymph nodes. There, the APC binds reversibly and briefly with

both cells. Next, the MHC presents the antigen to a T lymphocyte receptor to begin
activation of the T lymphocyte. The second signal for T lymphocyte activation is a
non antigen/ cell cell interaction known as costimulation. If costimulation does not
occur, the T lymphocyte will either undergo apoptosis or become unresponsive.
Costimulation involves pairing of receptor with ligand on the T cell; these pairs
include (LFA) 3 interacting with CD2, B7 interacting with CD28, and ICAM 1
interacting with LFA 1 (Lebwohl, 2003).

From these options I would have the 1TB SSD because an SSD does everything a
hard drive does functionally, but data is instead stored on interconnected flash
memory chips that retain the data even when there s no power present so nothing
is moving. Opposite to that is a hard drive which basically is a metal platter with a
magnetic coating that stores your data, this last only for a certain time until it
wears off, and the disk also spins making noise. For speed, an SSD equipped PC
will boot in just seconds and a hard drive requires time to speed up to operating
specs, and will continue to be slower than an SSD during normal use. Due to this
high speed storage, loading large files and launching softwares will be much faster
than the previous macs.

Introduction
The rise and fall of Pete Rose has always been an interesting topic brought up in the
world of baseball. However, I have never looked into for myself and have always
been curious how he became a king of baseball during his time, and how he grew
his legacy. Consequently, he fell after being caught for betting on his own team,
receiving the penalty of being banned from the MLB for life. After researching this
topic, I am excited to learn what all went down with this ordeal and how Pete Rose
has tried to save face after being caught.

42. The Benefits Of Blue Zones
All around the world, there are areas called Blue Zones, where the life expectancy
is higher than it is in America. The habits the people in these areas do are not only
accomplishable in their zone, but also in other parts of the world. In regards to the
community of Stafford, Virginia, it is more than likely possible for my peers to
adopt some of the habits regularly practiced by the Blue Zoners. On the right side
of the world, there is a Blue Zone in Sardinia, Italy called the Nuoro province.
Here, the Sardinians consume a type of cheese made from grass fed animals so the
cheese is high in Omega 3 fatty acids instead of Omega 6 fatty acids from corn fed
animals (6:05 6:15). This simple habit in their diet has the ability to extend their life
expectancy, and can be easily adopted by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like Italy, the people of Okinawa have a very specific and focused diet. They
prevent themselves from overeating by eating off of smaller plates, so they tend
to eat fewer calories at every sitting (8:30 8:40). This habit is possible in Stafford if
families began serving food at counters instead of at the dinner table, and not going
back for seconds. Obesity and overeating are large problems in America, so a good
way to fight it is by starting in small communities like Stafford. Apart from the way
the Okinawans eat, the way the elderly live at the time of their retirement is
important. They use the word ikigai as opposed to retirement, which means the
reason for which you wake up in the morning (10:25 10:40). In other words, ikigai
refers to one s sense of purpose. This habit is beneficial because it allows them to
have something to look forward to everyday. To continue this habit in Stafford, the
people in the community should be taught the meaning of the word and be reminded
that by just looking forward each day, about seven years could be added to their life.
