The Boy Scouts movement was founded in 1907 in England by retired Army General Lord Baden-Powell, who conducted an experimental camp for 20 boys. This led to the publication of Scouting for Boys and the official founding of the Boy Scouts. Scouting arrived in India in 1909 when the first troop was established in Bangalore. Over subsequent years, more troops opened for European and Anglo-Indian children. The movement strives to follow principles of duty to God, duty to others, and duty to self.
