Consumers have been consistently identified by business leaders as the most important stakeholder in guiding their action on sustainability. However, interpreting the signals from this group is contributing to CEOs’ frustrated ambition at the pace of change in embedding sustainability into the core business and global markets.
Consumers expect more from companies, from greater honesty and transparency to greater impact on global and local challenges and a more responsible stewardship of natural resources and the environment. Yet among business leaders there is a sense that companies have failed to engage the consumer on sustainability; that companies’ reputation and performance on environmental, social and governance issues are not informing consumers’ purchasing decisions; and that industry leaders on sustainable business practices are not being rewarded by the market.

Recycling is one of the best and most effective ways to keep the environment impregnable. Because only reusing can lower the amount of waste and save natural resources for the future. Less landfill trash can save air and water from pollution. Did you know – If we recycle one aluminum, we can be able to save enough energy to run a TV for 3 hours (Obviously depends on the energy consumption of your TV)? It might sound unbelievable but it’s true. This can give you an idea that how much energy can be saved if we take recycling seriously. Recycling will reduce the amount of landfill waste that is potentially hazardous to the environment. Recycled materials can be cheaper for manufacturers than virgin materials and this can help reduce the cost of those products.

Eco-Engineering The Grass IsAlways GreenerYes, the .docxjack60216
Eco-Engineering: The Grass Is
Always Greener
Yes, the title of this chapter has a dual meaning. Among senior execu-tives at global corporations, eco-engineering is already seen as astrategic imperative—even though the practice of eco-engineering is
not yet clearly understood by engineers. At the same time, many companies
feel constant pressure to prove that their “green” initiatives are greener than
their competitors’, leading to an upward spiral in greenwashing.
The net result is confusion. It can be difficult for engineers, executives, and
consumers to distinguish between an environmentally responsible project and
a plain old-fashioned PR grab. If you’re an engineer who’s really interested
in making a positive environmental impact, what should you focus on? Here
are a few suggestions, based on lessons learned from the real world of eco-
engineering.
Carbon Neutrality: Good Start but Not Enough
Corporate sustainability leaders tend to be a collaborative group. They are
open to sharing ideas, swapping stories, and growing their networks of col-
leagues in other companies. And that’s a great thing, because those of us who
deal with corporate sustainability on a daily basis know we’re in uncharted
territory and that we’re all learning as we go. We understand it’s in every-
one’s best interest if the overall economy becomes more sustainable. After all,
when it comes to climate changes there aren’t winners and losers—ultimately
we’ll either all win or all lose.

11
For example, let’s say your company magically reduces the environmental
impact of its operations to nothing so that you’re able to deliver your products
and services with no impact of any kind. But in the excitement your company
decides that you have created such a big advantage through your eco-effective-
ness that you better keep it a secret and not share your magic with anyone else.
In this case, how much better off is the world? Does erasing the impact of one
company make a big difference? Unfortunately, no.
Which brings us to the subject of carbon neutrality, the term often used to
describe the goal of corporate efforts to lessen companies’ impact on the
environment. No company can reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to
zero, so the idea is that Organization A pays Organization B to plant trees,
increase energy efficiency, create green energy, or do something else with a
positive impact on GHG emissions, thus offsetting Organization A’s own car-
bon emissions.
Many companies have centered their environmental strategy on a goal of
achieving carbon neutrality. They are generally doing some efficiency proj-
ects, purchasing some green energy, and offsetting the rest. But we’ve been
looking at product and service lifecycles, and we know the part that’s within
your four walls may be only a small part of your overall impact. What about
your supply chain? What about your products in use at your customers’ facil-
ities? What about your products at the end of their usef ...
Vestas has a strong brand founded in a proud legacy and powerful company values. But so too has most competitors.
While everybody is trying to outgun competition through products and innovations - bigger, better, faster, stronger - no one is asking the key question: why does it matter and to whom?
Herein lies a golden opportunity for Vestas: to adopt a people-centric branding approach and claim ownership of this particular brand category.
Two steps will bring Vestas closer to this goal.
1) Be extrovert. Focus on what makes a difference to the people of the world. Vestas takes center stage in “Wind. It means the world to us.” But we also want to be involved. Explain why and how wind also ought to mean the world to the rest of us.
2) Bring people into the Vestas univers. The world is made up of people. That’s why people relate to people. And not to machines or products. Make it easier for us to identify with Vestas by introducing people in pictures, in copywriting, and in cases. Address our wants and needs. Help us realize our dreams and hopes and we’ll love you forever.

www.seribangash.com
A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.
www.seribangash.com
Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.

Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.
https://seribangash.com/difference-public-and-private-company-law/
Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

oing green is a term that has been tossed
Garound for several years now. Often with the
impression that it is just another trendy phrase
that may eventually fade into the background of our
lives. It is also used widely and loosely. You can even
say that it has become a part of the general 'green
jargon' so to speak.
However, regardless of its current state, there are
questions about going green that still loom around us:
what does going green mean? What are we actually
doing about it? Who is really going green and who sees
it as nothing more than just a buzzword?
The practice of going green is all about making our
world more environmentally friendly. It's not just about
using less electricity. It is about changing the way we
use and produce fuel in order to have a positive impact
PAVING
THE GREEN
WAY
5. on the environment going forward, including going
green in large cities with sustainable transportation
systems. This comes in the form of products we use,
buildings we construct, and jobs we take on. For
example, when you choose to purchase a hybrid car
that generates less carbon dioxide (CO2) than
standard cars do, you're contributing to 'going green'.
Going green involves a shift in the energy sector that
involves a variety of companies and is based around a
wide spectrum of activities. Several industries,
including oil and gas, are striving to reduce their
negative impacts on the environment by using
renewable energy like solar or wind power.
Hence, the need for going energy is on the rise in the
country. Whether it be electric car sales going head-
to-head with petrol-based vehicles, or a surge in
investment in solar stocks, society's view of renewable
energy is changing. That's why many energy
companies are beginning to restructure, from
exploration and production to focus on renewables
and a place at the table in the electricity value chain.
This has resulted in synergies between power and oil
and gas companies, which have been crowned
champions of renewables.
As the global energy landscape continues to change
and evolve, we believe that this convergence will
continue to drive value creation. And the major players
of the industry that have been featured in this latest
edition of green energy providers will also continue to
play their part in it.

Brief us about the featured person and their journey in
the green energy space.
A nanotech entrepreneur with a problem-solving mindset.
An environmentalist availing a profitable & positive climate
change. A 2019 Forbes Under30 Awardee.
I am the Founder and CEO of Log 9 Materials and a classic
powerhouse. My journey in the green energy space dates
back to my college days at IIT Roorkee, I was enthralled by
Graphene and several projects later, I knew I had to make
the most of this wonder material.
With exhaustive research and practical experience, I
realized the need for commercial production of high-quality
nanomaterials, started my own venture - Log 9 Materials.
Six plus years into entrepreneurship now, I spearhead log9’s
product development and dissemination.
Along with my team, I have established Log 9 Materials as
one of India’s leading nanotechnologies and deep-
technology startups. Keen on progressive action for Climate
Change, I also have, in the recent years, ventured into angel
investing in start-ups with net positive environment goals.
What kind of green solutions or services does your
company provide?
Green is the new Black - Electric Vehicles are here and they
are here to stay. The idea of commercial fleet companies,
who run millions of two or three wheelers on road, going
all-electric, calls out a win-win situation for the said
companies, (think soaring petrol/diesel costs) and the
Planet.
We took EV Batteries for two and three wheelers and shot
them to the next level.
Integrating safety, performance, and efficiency, Log9’s
rapid charging EV batteries have transformed expectations
for the energy storage division. We are running pilots of our
utility batteries and have joined forces with leading Indian
e-com fleet operators like Amazon, Shadow fax, Delivery,
etc. To deploy fast-charging batteries in their two-wheeler
and three-wheeler Evs.
We have also entered a strategic partnership with Omega
Seiki Pvt. Ltd., part of Anglian Omega Group of
Companies, to introduce the rapid charging batteries
technology in Omega Seiki’s Rage+ electric three-wheeler
platform (commercial three-wheelers).

12. For a better grip on the impact of such partnerships on the
planet, we did some math: Assuming a daily usage of 100
km, which is pretty common for any commercial last-mile
vehicle, the total carbon footprint of the last mile fleet
operation in India alone is more than that of the entire
population of Singapore!
Two economy terms that will reset cleaner modes of energy
generation: Substitution and Dematerialization. We
summon circular economy by being one of the only two
companies globally to build no-emission Aluminum-air fuel
cells.
Throw in aluminum and a graphene-based novel air-
cathode, your cars and homes can now run-on air and water,
with no hassle of NOx, SOx, or other greenhouse gases.
Apart from the above ingenuities in the green energy sector,
Log 9 has also expanded its product line to graphene-based
filters and to address oil and chemical spills.
What kind of challenges have you faced industry-wise?
IC engine is ruling the Indian automotive space for over 80
years. Though EV stands to be the new cool kid who has
been the talk of the town. Going electric is commonly
perceived to be ‘expensive’ and as a luxury instead of a
battle cry for a sustainable commute. Looking into the
minds of an average Indian consumer, who
• Are daunted by the on-road price for EVs as compared to
a conventional IC two-wheeler
• Fear charging would take forever and finding charging
stations
• Has second thoughts on the performance reliability of the
vehicle
• Think batteries are gold diggers that need to be replaced
every two-three year
• Are anxious about EV mileage
• Trusts only well-known monopolies and has little
confidence in new companies and startups,
We find that changing an eighty-year-old mindset with a
six-year-old company and the mass education of an
st
underlying 21 -century, tech can be an uphill battle.
However, we have figured out the solutions for all the
above pain points and have them handy. Here are some
bite-sized hard data on Log9’s EV batteries for two-
wheelers to crunch on:
5X the performance, 5X the safety, 15 years of battery life,
and mere 15 minutes of charging time, and intelligent
subscription models enabling cost and risk reduction.
With such a too-good-to-be-true product, we can help our
average Indian consumer make superior, future-proof, and
eco-driven decisions.
Being in the green energy business, how important do
you think sustainability is? How are you contributing to
a sustainable future through your company?
Sustainability is a crucial ally for any company and not just
a CSR campaign. Only by expanding the economic, social,
and environmental spheres we can maximize the volume of
sustainable development. Our hearts lie at the Equitable use
of resources, bearable load on the environment, and viable
inter-generational products.
What would be your advice to the budding
entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into the green
energy business?
Do what you love, save the planet, and make a buck out of
it. Tech entrepreneurs who aspire to enter the green energy
space get the real deal. The entrepreneurship sprint will
indeed be a rollercoaster ride, filled with ups and downs and
infinite coffee runs. Having a strong sense of purpose will
blur the lines between the fluctuations and illuminate the
bigger picture.
Delivering products that work out all user pressure points
and improve user’s quality of life will be the ultimate
driving force you need for your venture.
Where do you envision yourself and your company to be
in the long run and what are your future goals?
We have the solutions and the breakthroughs. Extrapolating
in this direction, we mean to locally produce new battery
cell technologies including supercapacitors, high-power
lithium cells, and aluminium fuel cells.
Our secret game plan is to witness a chain of multiplication
in the number of Vehicles with Log9 batteries on the road
while eyeing the near net-zero carbon footprint. Also, stay
on your toes to witness our advanced battery cell
manufacturing plant come to light.
What is the current scenario of the green energy space
of India?
Although the big names in the energy and mobility space
have diversified to green fields, their efforts are
overshadowed by the global carbon emissions (over 70%).
However, there is visible spurge in the absolute number of
start-ups nucleated in the green energy sector and
particularly, the EV business. The green energy space
knows it has a winner with the number of scientists,
engineers, and innovators pouring in to avoid a climate
disaster.

18. It’s no secret that we live in a time of rapid
technological change. And we’re not just talking about
how quickly smartphones and apps can come and go,
but the way sustainability and renewable energy is
permeating every aspect of the business world.
In the past, the main issue with renewable energy has been
the cost involved. But as more and more consumers start
demanding sustainability from companies, the price of
going green is continually decreasing.
The popularity of renewable energy is increasing; it’s no
longer considered a niche market. Now, businesses and
organizations everywhere are trying to use renewable
energy and raise awareness of the issues surrounding
climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. Switching to
an alternative energy source has not only helped the
businesses reduce their carbon footprint but has also helped
them cut costs and improve their cash flow.
Demands For Solar Power Are Growing
Despite the pandemic, the world's renewable energy
capacity increased by 45 percent in 2020, part of an

20. understandable as the technology had
just been developed and those first
attempts at commercializing it were
being made. However, as those first
attempts have ultimately turned into a
roaring success story, the price-
performance ratio of solar technologies
has begun to undercut traditional
energy sources on a more and more
regular basis.
Increasing solar cell efficiencies,
thanks to lower-cost technology, is
certainly contributing to the reshaping
of the energy market. Higher efficiency
means solar panels can produce more
electricity with less expensive
materials. This cost reduction has
already helped put solar in place in
some incredibly sunny regions of the
world, where electricity rates are
naturally high.
Green Tech is Here, Let's All Get
Green!
There are many ways which Greentech
can help reduce our negative impact on
the environment. Whether it is by
replacing old technology with new or
finding new ways to sustain our planet
whilst doing so.
The end result is that Greentech can
help cut your electricity bills, remove
the negative impact of technology on
the environment, and save you lots of
cash in spare parts; Greentech can do
all three.
more worker positioned in the green
industry.
Solar Panels Are Cheaper Than Ever
One of the biggest barriers to a rapid
transition to clean energy is the myth
that dooming our businesses with high
electricity prices is a necessary part of
decarbonizing our economy. The truth
is exactly the opposite: The cheapest
energy resources are those that have
been responsibly exploited and
generate the lowest per-megawatt
pollution. Our challenge now is no
longer technological, but political.
If we take the steps to get costs under
control, we should be able to get there.
The greatest challenge facing our
energy system is not whether we can
pay for clean energy; it’s whether we
can make the decisions right now that
will secure a future for our children
and grandchildren.
The rapid and ongoing collapses in the
prices of solar and wind energy, and
the declining cost of battery storage to
back up these intermittent resources,
have stunned experts. These long-
standing rules were designed
specifically to remove market
distortions that unfairly benefitted
incumbents while reducing
competition from newcomers. In other
words, policies set by the government
played a key role in making clean
energy cheap.
Residential Solar Panel Kits Are
Abundant
Even though solar energy has been
around for a while now, solar power
still often comes with a hefty price tag.
In the early years, this was
unprecedented boom in wind and solar
energy, according to a new Energy
Agency research. It is the highest
yearly pace of growth since 1999.
As such, the government of India is
also marching ahead, establishing a
new policy framework for sustainable
solar power development in the
country. To this end, it has worked on
establishing fair and binding
arrangements amongst key sector
players in solar energy—state and
national agencies, state-owned
enterprises, and private energy
producers—as well as improving the
regulatory and fiscal environment.
Residential Solar Power is Picking
Up
Thanks in part to the benefits of solar,
in addition to a growing interest in
energy in general, people in the
country are choosing solar power in
greater numbers. In fact, solar power is
now more affordable than ever. In
2017, more people installed solar
panels on their homes than ever before.
That number is only going to grow as
costs continue to drop and lending
terms of installers continue to improve.
The Rise in Green Energy Jobs
The green energy train is picking up
speed, but investors are worried about
qualified workers having all the right
skills to install solar panels, wind
turbines and other renewable energy
technology. Work on solar, wind, wave,
tidal, geothermal power generates
employment positions for technicians
and workers to construct these green
energy installations. The rapid runup in
investment-backed green energy
program development will require

22. S
ustainable development should be brought into focus
immediately. In the busy lifestyle, people often forget
about the fact that eventually the natural resources
will come to an end. It is high time to bring in change and
support the innovations and technologies, which are helpful
for the sustainable growth of people.
In our endeavour towards finding, The 5 Most
Recommended Green Energy Providers, we came across
Renkube Private Limited. It is a solar research and
development company in the field of motion free optical
tracking of solar panels.
In the following interview, Laxmikanth Balaji, the CEO
and Founder of Renkube Private Limited shares his
opinions about how sustainable development is necessary.
Below are the highlights of the interview.
Please brief our audience about your company, its
values, vision, and mission.
Renkube Private Limited is a renewable energy R&D
company started by ex-Cisco technologist. We consider
ourselves as sun ray sculptor and have a pioneering design,
technology, and methodology to redirect sunlight to a given
destination in an optimal and efficient manner as dictated by
the solar application.
Our first innovation in this journey is an innovative glass
for solar panel that boosts the energy generation in Solar
panel by 20% more at no additional increase in panel cost.
What kind of green solutions or services does your
company provides?
We are proud to call ourselves as Research Oriented Solar
company that is on the path to revolutionize the solar world
with a new Solar Panel design, which will make solar
panels more affordable and will accelerate Solar adoption
with its attractive payback period and cost economics.
Renkube
20 | September 2021 www.insightssuccess.in
23. We are bringing to the market an innovative light harvesting
glass that gathers more sunlight and redirects it to the solar
cells thereby increasing the efficiency of the solar panel by
20%. This glass is engineered to work purely by the virtue
of its design.
It works without any motors/electro-mechanical
components and without, chemical coating, and without any
special chemical composition of glass. The solar panel cost
remains the same as the current market price (Rs 19-
Rs22/Wp) but the solar project capital cost marginally
increases by 5%. Thus, we bring all the benefits of a Single
axis tracker at zero maintenance cost other than regular
cleaning of solar panels.
What kind of challenges have you faced industry-wise?
Any innovation in the field of Solar have involved multiple
years of research and has deep soaking time to test,
validate, and get accepted in mainstream. Indian Solar
Industry have always been piggybacking and been late in
adoption of leading solar innovation like multi-busbar solar
cells, advanced solar cells, PERC technology, BiFacial
Solar Panels, half cut solar cells etc.
Just like how the Indian pharmaceutical industry underwent
a complete transformation decade back. Even Indian Solar
Industry needs to invest more in developing technologies
towards making the solar the default choice for power in
India and across the world.
We need to nurture and facilitate more solar startups with
incubation testbeds and lab facilities for quick prototyping
and testing. We are indeed very thankful to Swelect Energy
Systems and Enfros solar in helping our prototyping efforts.
There are several other manufacturers who have come
forward to collaborate and take it forward to the next level
post our pilot activities.
Our Vision
The 5 Most Recommended Green Energy
21 | September 2021 www.insightssuccess.in
24. Being in the green energy business, how important do
you think sustainability is? How are you contributing to
a sustainable future through your company?
We strongly believe in the UN goals that “Sustainability is
meeting the current needs without disturbing the resources
for future generations”. With skyrocketing prices of
electricity bill and fuel like petrol, making a green switch is
no longer an option but the default economical choice of
people.
We as a green energy startup, will facilitate the switch
quicker with our efficient products. For the future
generations to come, sustainable living is an essential and
necessary skill needed to survive on earth.
As our Solar panels are 20% more efficient than traditional
ones, using our technology for a 1 MW solar plant will
additionally reduce the carbon footprint by 7300 tons,
which is equivalent to planting 0.1 Million trees (EPA link:
1 ton of co2 emission is equivalent to planting 15 trees)
Where do you envision yourself and your company to be
in the long run and what are your future goals?
There is no reason why India cannot produce 100% of its
electricity needs from solar and we will make every effort
to make this a realty. All manufacturing side innovation
aimed to reduce the cost of making energy by vertically
integrating the manufacturing.
All the components have vastly helped us to reach the tariff
of ₹2 per unit of electricity and going forward newer
innovation like ours can make an impact in bringing the
prices down by at least another 40% to 50% in the next
decade. Not all are going to believe to this prediction as
many of them believe that we have already reached rock
bottom prices.
We want to be recognized as the R&D powerhouse in the
solar world by supplying our efficient light harvesting glass
design to glass manufacturers. We want to be ‘Intel inside’
in the solar photovoltaic world and want to expand our
customer footprint with top PV manufacturers worldwide.
Solar Photovoltaic will be our steppingstone in the solar
world and we intend to proliferate the Motion Free Optical
Tracking in myriads of solar applications such as Solar
Water Heater, Solar Shelf for daylighting applications,
Green Buildings, Building Integrated Photovoltaic, etc.
What is the current scenario of the green energy space
pertaining to India?
India is at the right inflection point to see accelerated
adoption of solar. We have an ambitious goal of generating
450 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030, a tremendous
ecosystem push for producing indigenous technologies, and
PLI incentives for manufacturers to promote Made in India
products.
Now with the right set of innovation and government
subsidies we are set on a trajectory to promote a sustainable
future with solar energy.
Brief us about the featured person and their journey in
the green energy space.
Balaji is the CEO of Renkube Private Limited and the lead
inventor in creating the Motionless Optical Tracking at
Renkube. He is an eminent technologist with deep strategic
and business insight and has been the recipient of
prestigious Cisco Pioneer Awards three times in his career.
Balaji holds about 13 USPTO approved patents.
His broad interests include solar PV, BIPV, solar water
heater, AI/cognitive systems, other renewable energy
solutions related to green building and reduction of carbon
footprint. Having reached pinnacle of his technical career at
Cisco, he dived into his entrepreneur journey in Solar as it
was a booming field back in 2016.
He was always driven with a determination to create a
meaningful innovation for a sunshine rich country like
India. Balaji started his journey in converting thermal
energy from the sun to electricity, but the cost economics
didn’t work out. Hence, he took a conscious decision to
create an innovation in the glass design as optical tracking
was an unsolved problem for the last 40 years.
He then chose to apply his 20 years of deep software
expertise in the cross-disciplinary field of Solar and
developed a proprietary machine learning software. The
intelligent software emulates the movements of the sun and
can create a 3-dimensional CAD designs to redirect sunlight
as dictated by the solar application. To put it in a nutshell-
we have digitalized the process of creating efficient glass
design for any solar application through a software created
by us.

29. Indians spend considerably more time in the offices
than at their homes. On average, employees spend
about 55 hours at the office in a week. According to
National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), the working hours
have increased to even 60-84 hours.
Many things matter in the workflow, and most of the time,
it is the workplace environment that maintains the good
energy flowing. Since most employees spend a considerable
amount of their time at workplaces, the workplace
environment should be pleasant and vibrant.
Why is it essential to make a workplace healthy and vibrant
for the employees, and how can this affect the business?
Well, it is important because it is the employees that help
industries to become mega-giant. The customer is the
‘KING’, but the employees are the lifeline of the business.
Rather than providing them with a tight schedule and a
workplace, which drains them every day, here are some
eco-friendly ways to make the workplace environment
more enjoyable, pleasant, and vibrant. This is not only
useful for maintaining a good flow of energy in the
workplace, but it also allows the employees to thrive with
creativity. Let us look at a few things that help make the
workplace enjoyable, pleasant, and vibrant.
th
4 Re of the traditional 3 Re-s
Reuse, Reduce and Recycle have now become the global
motto and is implemented in almost every workplace
worldwide. Well, add another ‘Re’ to that list, Restyle.
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle and Restyle will add more value to
the already used product or services and give it a
completely new shape that employees are usually attracted
th
towards. The fourth 4 Re, Restyle, can also be added to the
workplace. Make the workplace colourful depending on the
work that the employees usually do. If the workload is
immense, then having a collaboration of colours with green
colour being the centre can help the employees feel calm.
Working Sustainably

30. This also helps maintain good
communication as it also has a
psychological effect on the employees
that allow more interaction. For a more
energetic office that usually demands
creativity and collaboration, colours
like yellow, red, and even orange can
be stimulating. These colours trigger
mental activity and bring excitement
and energy to the workspace. The
office's interior does not usually need
to go with the company’s structure but
the type that the employees need.
Digitalized workplace
One of the best ways to promote eco-
friendly measures at a workplace is by
promoting paperless offices. These
offices do not use paper for regular in-
office transactions or communication
of any sort. These are being replaced
by emails, etc., which are also efficient,
streamlined, effective, and completely
eco-friendly.
Green Office, Happy Office
The quality of air that the offices have
these days is getting worse day by day.
This is not because of the office
environment or because of the air-
conditioned offices. It is because of the
pollution and other factors that disturb
the air quality. However, one of the
most efficient and eco-friendly ways to
maintain a good mood in the office as
well as improve the air quality of the
office is to use green offices. Now, any
office can be a green office. All you
have to do is to plant a few plants in
the office area. These small measures
have an incredible effect on the air
quality, and they can even brighten the
workplace. One additional benefit of
having plants at the workplace is that it
reduces stress amongst people, and the
good oxygen supply boosts
productivity.
Save Energy
When running a business, energy or
electricity is one of those things that
needs to be conserved. Though most of
the employees see it as a duty to the
company, it should be more like a
responsibility to sustainably use
resources for the betterment of the
planet. This not only helps the business
to save some money, but it also
contributes significantly in making the
workplace more habitable and
healthier.
Active Awareness
It might seem like hammering when
someone at the workplace tells you
about saving energy. Awareness is
essential for the eco-friendly
environment at the workplace;
however, active awareness makes the
difference. Rather than hammering the
employees by telling them constantly
about eco-friendly ways for a vibrant
atmosphere at the workplace, engage
the employees with greener workplaces
and activities that revolve around eco-
friendly ways. If this ideation is
brought to life as a process, it can work
wonders for the workplace. Begin with
talking about ideas for eco-friendly
ways that can make the office
environment more vibrant and then
bring those ideas into action. This
boosts the morale of the employees and
enlightens the workplace environment.
Many eco-friendly ways can help in
enhancing the workplace. This will
result in boosting productivity and
maintaining a good flow of positive
energy at the workplace. A few ideas
that can be implemented to make the
environment livelier are walking
meetings instead of closed-door
meetings, stand-up meetings, etc.
There are more creative and innovative
ways to make the environment rich at
the workplace while following eco-
friendly measures. All it takes is to be a
little more creative and active
participation from both ends.

32. People often think to switch to renewable energy
resources like solar energy but fail to realize its
importance and end up using the non-renewable
ones. Solar energy is a green and clean resource of energy
that is environment friendly and saves the planet from
pollution. Many people understand the importance of solar
energy but do not know how to operate it or they do not
have a suitable infrastructure for it.
There are numerous green energy providers who help these
people. SafEarth is one such green energy provider, which
was established by two enthusiasts, Harshit Poddar, Co-
founder and Director along with Anuvrat Saboo, Co-
founder of the company. They bootstrapped SafEarth to
make people understand the importance of sustainable
future with green energy. Harshit and Anuvrat, started
working in the field of renewable energy while they were in
college
In the following interview, Harshit and Anuvrat will share
about their journey at SafEarth and how they transformed
the challenges encountered into opportunities.
Following are the highlights of interview:
Please brief our audience about your company, its
values, vision, and mission.
SafEarth provides software as a service platform that helps
industries in shifting to clean energy. Most people who will
st
buy a distributed energy plant in 21 century have never
bought one before. As a result, a user does not have the
required technical, financial, or operational experience to
buy and operate a solar power plant. The SafEarth platform
helps these users in getting the right solar plant and deliver
the best value out of the asset.
The mission of the company is to build the country's go to
renewable energy platform.
The vision of the company is to build the world's go to
sustainability platform.
As a company, we hold values such as honesty and
transparency in very high regards. We believe in optimizing
for customer experience. Above everything, sustainability is
at the heart of everything that we do at SafEarth.
Brief us about the featured person and their journey in
the green energy space.
When we first found out about the new modes of financing
solar power projects, it was music to our ears. We realized
that the solar industry is now going through a rapid phase of
transformation, and this will create multiple opportunities in
the field of sustainability. We wanted to be a part of this
change and as a result, we started working at this startup.
During this time, we were going to other colleges and
industries to ask them to shift to solar power. Mind you, at
the time, we were just 20-year-olds, still in college and
trying to sell a product that would last 25 years. As a result,
people were not very receptive towards us.
However, we didn't lose heart. Instead, we doubled down
the hard work. In the next two years, we met nearly 1000
industries and got a chance to evaluate the value
proposition from the users' perspective. That is when we
realized that there exists a massive structural flaw in the
industry and to solve these flaws, we started SafEarth.
What kind of green solutions or services does your
company provide?
SafEarth provides an online marketplace and project
management tool to accelerate the transition to clean
energy. The company uses these products to optimize and
switch to clean energy.
Fostering a Sustainable Future
30 | September 2021 www.insightssuccess.in
33. What kind of challenges have you faced industry-wise?
In India, most industries do not have very good credit
history. This ensures that they are not able to get the
required access to finance. Additionally, many companies
have not invested into their long-term infrastructure and as
a result, they too can't buy these solar plants.
Being in the green energy business, how important do
you think sustainability is? How are you contributing to
a sustainable future through your company?
We genuinely believe that the biggest challenge and the
biggest opportunity for our generation is to build a cleaner
and more sustainable planet. As a result, sustainability is at
the heart of everything that we are doing at SafEarth. The
company is proud of the fact that in the financial year 2021-
22, our plants will save over 70,000 tons of carbon
emissions. Over the next five years, we hope to take this
number close to 1 billion tons of CO2 emissions.
What would be your advice to the budding
entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into the green
energy business?
The first thing that we wish, we knew seven years back was
a little more about customer psyche. Many entrepreneurs
develop clean products that are more expensive than their
non-sustainable counterparts. We feel that consumers would
be ready to accept these 'green premiums' or the additional
cost of these sustainable products. We couldn't be farther
from the truth.
In reality, no product with a substantial green premium ever
reaches scale. To make sustainability a central theme of our
daily lives, we need products that are at par in terms of cost
with their non-sustainable alternatives.
Where do you envision yourself and your company to be
in the long run and what are your future goals?
In the next ten years, we aim to build the 'Operating
Backbone' for deployment and management of solar power
plants. This would include building a network of skilled and
unskilled people employed in operating these plants,
development of technologies that are needed to monitor and
operate these plants. Essentially, in the long run, we are
looking to decentralize power generation and make it more
customer centric and sustainable.
What is the current scenario of the green energy space
pertaining to India?
In India, the green energy industry is at major crossroads.
While we are making massive progress in utility scale solar
plants, we are lagging much behind in the distributed
rooftop solar plants. This is because of the massive
challenges, which exists in this space. In terms of solving
these challenges, there are three major steps, which we
would recommend.
First, would be a company-wide policy on distributed solar.
Today, all states have their own policies, and these policies
are often not structured to promote solar power. As a result,
solar is not growing as fast as it should. What instead
required is a national policy that has the required provisions
to promote clean energy adoptions. Next, we would
recommend the involvement of our banks and other
financial institutions in the financing of solar projects.
There is a massive credit gap in the market, and this slows
the adoption of clean energy. Lastly, we would recommend
a national repository of plant performance, maintained and
managed by the MNRE. This would allow users and
industry participants to filter out companies, which are
doing good work from the ones, which aren't.
As a company,
we hold values such
as honesty and transparency
in very high regards.
We believe in optimizing
for customer experience
