O
ur environment has provided some
glimpse of our so-called development
in a couple of centuries. Planet Earth
is getting warmer, and the climate cycle is
getting uneven. Every corner of the globe is
feeling the heat & there is no sign of slowing
down the pace of global warming.
The Industrial Revolution has contributed at
large to this consequence. Clean technology,
popularly called cleantech, has evolved as an
option to make things correct from the past.
Various technological advancements are being
made to counter the climate change issue.
Sustainable marketplace and eco-friendly
products are gaining popularity as the climate
is pushing several authorities & public to keep
the environment balanced. Corporate giants
around the globe are directed to contribute
to this global crisis by maintaining ecological
balance without affecting economic benefits.
On the other side, startups are taking an
active part in solving this crisis by delivering
dedicated services & products that are not just
eco-friendly, but have economic factors
as well.
The question still arises, “why do we
need clean technology?” If we study the
pattern of seasons annually for the last
two decades, we clearly have proof of
what we have done to this planet. Several
countries, including so-called developed
nations, are even part of this man-made
crisis. European nations & American nations
have witnessed some harsh responses from
mother nature in the form of
natural disasters.
The problem is big so is the opportunity.
The waste problem is a big challenge as
there is no chance of getting that waste
decomposed naturally. Startups have come
up with some ground-breaking ideas &
technology that have turned the waste
problem into a new type of raw material.
Energy is one of those necessities that has
become an integral part of our daily lives.
Renewable energy sources are becoming
even more substantial than the current
fossil powered energy sector.
In our latest edition of “The 10 Most
Promising Clean Tech Startups 2022” in
the cover story, we have Rahul Nainani,
Co-Founder & CEO of ReCircle. The
company has created a business model
where they collect recyclable materials at
your doorstep.
SwiftNLift focuses on spot-lighting firms
and startups that contribute to shaping
lives better with their intention to make our
society a better place. It was a collective
effort made by our team to bring this
edition. As the Chief Editor, I am grateful

Rahul Nainani
Co Founder & CEO
ReCircle
Recycling is one of the best and most effective ways
to keep the environment impregnable. Because only
reusing can lower the amount of waste and save natural
resources for the future. Less landfill trash can save air
and water from pollution. Did you know – If we recycle
one aluminum, we can be able to save enough energy to
run a TV for 3 hours (Obviously depends on the energy
consumption of your TV)? It might sound unbelievable
but it’s true. This can give you an idea that how much
energy can be saved if we take recycling seriously.
Recycling will reduce the amount of landfill waste that
is potentially hazardous to the environment. Recycled
materials can be cheaper for manufacturers than
virgin materials and this can help reduce the cost of
those products.
Recircle is a resource recovery enterprise that works
to divert waste away from landfills and oceans, to
bring it back into the economy to be reused, recycled,
or repurposed, thereby promoting responsible and
sustainable consumption of resources. It endeavors to
benefit society by building an inclusive, ethical, and
circular eco-system, creating capacity and organized
employment within the informal economy, and
promoting dignity along with better living standards for
workers from all sections of society.
In 2016 they started as a RaddiConnect an online portal
to provide doorstep pick up for recyclables in Mumbai.
Afteroneyeartheystartedworkingwiththegovernment
to set up a Material Recovery Facility - an infrastructure
for recovery of resources. In 2018 they began helping
manufacturers to comply with their Extended Producer
Responsibility (EPR) and neutralize their plastic
footprint. And finally, in 2021 they transformed to
ReCircle – A resource recovery enterprise with a vision
of Ethical Circularity.
How They Work:
	You schedule a pickup on their website or locate the
nearest point to drop off the recyclables.
	They weigh the collected recyclables and send you a
confirmation via SMS or E-mail.
	Proceeds from recycling go on to support a cause.
You receive an acknowledgment for it.
	You can subsequently track or measure the impact
score on your profile.
Rahul Nainani
Co Founder & CEO
12 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
Services they provide:
	Pickup: Their digital platform offers a seamless way for you to
dispose of all your dry recyclables - paper, metal, plastic, and
glass. Their verified resource partners, who are none other than
your neighborhood raddi waalas collect all the recyclables from
you on a scheduled date and time. Proceeds from recycling those
resources go on to support a cause.
	Drop-Off:Theirdensenetworkofresourcepartnersmakesithighly
convenient to drop off any recyclables like paper, plastic, metal,
and glass at multiple locations in and around your neighborhood.
Find the nearest point using their digital platform and support a
cause by disposing of it responsibly.
As per the Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016 by The Ministry
of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Extended Producer’s
Responsibility or EPR makes a manufacturer responsible for
managing plastic waste after a consumer has used their product. The
producers and importers of plastic as well as brand owners that use
plastic for packaging are now accountable for managing the end waste.
They must treat, recycle or reuse the products after a consumer has
disposed them off. At ReCircle, they don’t only offset an equivalent
amount of plastic you generate but also certify you in compliance
with Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016.
They understand that they won’t be able to recover resources from
ending up in landfills or oceans till we really challenge the ecosystem
that forms the basis of linear economy – produce – use – throw;
instead of a circular economy – produce – use – reuse. For that, they
trust, they cannot do it alone but only with everyone in the ecosystem.
So, they do a lot of collaboratively conceptualized projects towards
hitting multiple problems, one at a time.
13
MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
They Recover, Recycle, Rethink.
At ReCircle, their stakeholders are varied and they
partner them all - government, brands, and informal
sector - to achieve their vision of ethical circularity with
multiple services. While they continue to work with
the government, enterprises, recyclers & co-processors
to manage waste, they also educate consumers about
waste segregation and practices that are good for the
environment. At every step of the way, their system
is driven by data, analytics, and technology to enable
transparency and accountability throughout the
resource value chain.
A resource recovery enterprise working towards a
sustainable future. They do this by preventing resources
from entering landfills and oceans. Rather, they direct
them back into the economy for recycling, reusing, or
repurposing. They aim to build an inclusive, ethical, and
circular ecosystem, using organized employment for
waste workers within the informal economy. By doing
this, they ensure the security of jobs and dignified life for
workers from all sections of society.
14 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
At ReCircle they Vision to see a world
where no resources are wasted by pursuing
and promoting ethical circularity. And
their Mission is working to move towards
a circular economy for waste. They want to
createinfrastructureforwastemanagement
(collection, segregation, processing). Most
importantly they influence brands to adopt
sustainable processes.

Introduction
The Indian automotive industry is undergoing
restructuring, as the need for strict climate change
policy implementation has been rising each day.
Researchers and scientists around the globe
have declared warnings for all the big cities on
the coastlines.
Vehicularpollutionhasbecomeoneofthemajorreasons
formedicaldisabilitiesrelatedtolungsandbreathing.All
the big cities, especially in the Northern section of India,
have been the worst in terms of breathable air quality.
Delhi,ournationalcapital,hasbecomethemostpolluted
national capital in the world. This was a final warning for
the governments and residents of India to restructure
our transport system, or else it could get worse than we
could imagine.
To address this alarming issue, EV startups came
forward. Electric vehicles are currently playing a vital
role for citizens who are trapped in a contaminated
environment. Battery-powered vehicles have
no tailpipe emission that releases multiple toxic
chemicals into the air. To ensure continuity in the
transition EVs need charging infrastructure to ensure
uninterrupted driving.
One of the finest growing startups in the EV charging
industry is AKR Infra Corporation. We had this
opportunity to have a conversation with the Co-
Founder & CEO, Mr. CK Sashikumar, and Co-Founder
& VP of Operations, Anandha Prabhu.
We had this question & answer session, which
is as under:
What made you establish AKR Infra? Why
did you choose to become an EV charger
provider?
AKR Infra Corporation was established to dispense
enterprise customers with a vendor-independent EV
charge point which is powered by solar and along with
a wide range of products for EV station operations.
Our mission is to reduce carbon emissions through
alternative sustainable energy sources.
What challenges do you see in EV charging
space and how do you address it?
The challenge that we are facing at the moment is to
provide solar power distribution for 24 hours for all of
our charging stations. We will soon make sure that all
our charging stations are able to function 24/7 on the
basis of solar power itself.
Where have you installed your chargers?
At what pace are you expanding your EV
charging network?
At the moment we have installed our chargers at
Coimbatore, Navakkkarai, and Karur. Furthermore,
we have plans for installing chargers in Chennai
and then slowly expanding out to other states all
over the country.
What kind of growth are you predicting in
the EV market of India?
Due to the drastic effect of climate change and

pollution
on the environment,
the Govt. of India is taking tremendous
measures to embrace sustainable alternatives.
We believe that by the year 2030, there will be
a huge spike in demand for the EV market.
Almost 40-50% of all the vehicles in the
country will be EVs.
Are you providing EV chargers
only for cars and Busses?
At the moment, we are providing EV
chargersforcarsandbusses.However,wealso
plan on setting up EV charging stations for t
wo-wheelers. We are also venturing
into retrofitting by collaborating with a
European company. This process will convert diesel/
petrol-driven vehicles into EVs.

o stay fit for a long time, you need good quality
of oxygen to keep your body organs healthy.
Even doctors recommend walking at least in the
morning to give your brain and body ample amount
of oxygen that keeps blood vessels clean, keeping your
blood pressure under control.
India being one of the most populated countries with
one of the fastest growing economy in the world is facing
critical issue of polluted/contaminated air. Major Indian
cities, including our national capital ranks at the top of
most polluted cities in the world. To address this serious
issue many startups are getting into shape. One of such
responsible startup is AATHMA PRANAVAAYU PVT
LTD. Let’s dive deep to know more about them.
At first, we would like to know about the
inception story of Aathma Pranavaayu.
What made you think of creating this
company?
Two young Science lovers coming together at a common
science lecture forum wanting to contribute something
to the humanity/society that enhances their livelihood
without disturbing the ecosystem and solving a most
important problem. Thus the company AATHMA
PRANAVAAYU PVT LTD was formed to address the
ever-growing air pollution that is the root cause for
most of the problems.
What kind of technology are you
implanting for air purification?
Thetechnologyrevolvesaroundartificialphotosynthesis
to obtain higher yield of biomass which can consume
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the indoor
environment and converting them into oxygen, given
out enriched breathable oxygenated air.
What according to you have created the
scenario of utilizing technology to purify
the breathable air?
All existing air purifiers are simply just chemical filters
(made from plastic compositions) that work on the
concept of trapping the PM2.5
and PM10
along with some
toxins and not addressing the actual problem which
are the VOCs present in the environment. Also, the
replaceable filters are adding on to the pollution not to
forget the trapped pollutants being released back into
the environment.

We wanted to use the naturally available resources to
address the very same problem and create a sustainable
clean green tech solution for air purification. Being a
Bio Air purifier that has Zero Waste where the biomass
itself has multiple uses like fertilizers and pet feed.
Howdoyoutakethischallengeofpurifying
air which is filled with multiple micro
elements?
We contain and grow the biomass and feed it with
adequate nutrients along with artificial lighting that
suits best for photosynthesis and give good yield as
well as help in converting the VOCs into oxygen. Also,
the biomass is maintained at a pH value that most
microorganisms cannot survive. The PM2.5
and PM10
are
also suspended in the water molecules thus not letting
them escape back into the atmosphere.
What difficulties are you witnessing in
your research?
The major difficulty was proving a new concept with
values as there were not proper facilities available at our
disposal and even if they were, it was expensive for a
startup to afford for testing and scaling up the prototype
as there was not enough funding support. For VOCs we
are trying to incorporate best sensor.
What is the USPs of solution?
First-ever commercial bio air purifier for home use.
In-built air quality monitor. Lightweight, low noise &
self-contained. Replaces ~12 plants in a room. Home
décor with built-in light. Reduces risk of asthma, COPD
& other respiratory ailments. Zero waste (byproducts
can be used as fertilizer, pet feed, etc.).

Tensor Dynamics
Pvt Ltd
How did you have the thought of
establishing a Weather & Climate
analytics company?
I was always inclined towards sustainable energy.
While I was writing my M.Tech dissertation in
Renewable power forecasting in collaboration
with the Power grid of India, I realized the
growing importance of climate sciences in the
ongoing power sector transition. Reflecting more
upon it, I gathered how Climate science and its
application in different sectors are most crucial
for fighting climate change. My interest in the field
and the importance of its application in future
growth led me to start a Weather and Climate
analytics company.
What kind of challenges did you
face initially?
I started this company alone and I could not find
any of my colleagues or friends to join in
full time; I was handling all the
operations of my start-up
alone with almost
no money to
start with as, I was just finishing my M.Tech at
that time. My Professor, Dr. Somnath Baidya Roy,
helped me register the company as one of the
directors and guided me through the initial phase.
Another major challenge I face is with investors.
Indian investors are keen to invest in a business
with high opportunities in the current market with
traction. The kind of business Tensor Dynamics is
doing involves a lot of R&D, which investors find
difficult to understand in terms of business.
How has been the journey of Tensor
Dynamics so far?
It has been a tough road as I started fresh out of
college without any funding or team. I relied on
myself to learn, build, and sell. We have done
development projects with the major names in
the industry like Power Grid of India, NTPC,
and Adani Renewables till now. With the help of
insights that I found working with these giants,
I also developed a solution to tackle the utmost
challenge with grid integration of renewable
energy and filed a provisional patent on it.
What are the opportunities in the
Indian Weather industry?
I feel the Indian weather
industry is in its
initial
20 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
stage as most of the industries get affected by
weather and climate change, but very few of them
have started to address it. India being a tropical
country, the weather is very dynamic, and it
affects major industries directly or indirectly
like Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Power
Transmission, Transport, and Logistics to name
a few. For India to become an efficient economy
in the future, we need to start minimizing the
losses occurring due to a lack of weather and
climate analytics.
Which industries are you eying at
the moment?
Currently, we are working in the Renewable
Energy industry. We have spent the last 2 years
trying to understand the market needs and the
major problems this industry faces. We have
developed 2 different products to serve the
industry for which we have recently passed the
market validity through POC. 1 Weather forecast
data for wind and solar power projects: To fill
the weather data vacuum by providing high-
quality weather data on different time scales. 2.
Power forecast and QCA services: This service
is curated according to the regulations as per
government with a hybrid approach of Climate
models, Satellite data, and IoT to reduce penalties
for RE power plants.

There is no doubt that the exponential growth of
technology has benefited society, but the rise of the
machine has a dark side as well. As people become
more and more technologically connected, some
worrythatwearemissingoutonimportantaspects
of the human experience, becoming impatient,
impulsive, forgetful, and even narcissistic. This is
why experts are questioning society’s dependence
on technology: what it is, how it came to be, and
what we can do to reduce the risk of dependence
in a time of technological advancement.
Technology plays a major role in our lives, and
most of us may find it difficult to remember a
time when phones, computers, tablets, and other
devices were not a part of everyday life. While
technology certainly makes life easier and more
convenient, many people wonder whether our
society is dependent on technology. So, is society
too dependent on technology? Don’t worry, today
we will know.
Technology has had a huge impact on every
aspect of society. It has expanded our ways of
entertainment, changed the way we communicate,
increased our ability to travel, and even influenced
social change within our societies. The more
technology has advanced, the more impact it
has had on society as a whole. After the rapid
development of technology (from the invention
of electricity to the automobile to the computer)
let’s take a look at where society was in the 19th
century versus where it went in the 20th century.
How much is too much?
Mahatma Buddha rightly said, “Excessive amount
of everything is harmful.” It seems the same
goes for technology as well. While technology
is seeping into every part of human lives, it
doesn’t necessarily lead them towards progress
and betterment. It brings along unprecedented
Dependency on technology
23
MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
upheavals for human society, which could prove
to be disastrous if individuals do not start taking
the right steps today.
Since its birth, technology has been a cause of
concern for humans as it has the potential to
replace them in various jobs. At least humans
were assured that AI would never do a thing
they could, which is getting creative but then the
unimaginable happened.
Art pieces by Ai. Da, probably the world’s first AI
artist, poems by Google’s algorithm-generated
PoemPortraits or music composed by an AI
music engine called AIVA and tons of other
software, applications, and a few humanoids are
slowly taking over the creative world that humans
proudly claimed to be theirs.
EffectsofTechnologyonMentalHealth
In our ever-changing world, the use of technology
is continuously expanding. It influences every
area of our lives, from our ability to communicate
with loved ones to accessing information at our
fingertips. Unfortunately, we have seen several
negative effects of technology on mental health
as well.
Unfortunately,theeffectsoftechnologyonchildren
and youth are not only spreading to a larger
population but they have also been shown to be
long-lasting as well. To put things in perspective,
about 50% of lifelong mental illness cases began
by age 14 and 75% began by age 24. With this in
mind, it is important to take cautionary steps to
mitigate potential risk factors for our children,
including their access to technology. These steps
may include adding parental controls to control
how much time your kids spend on their mobile
devices or while watching TV. It is important to
note how a child’s exposure to technology and
social media can leave a lasting impact on their
mental health.
Finding The Balance Of Technology
And Society
Technology has so many advantages and benefits
for society, and it is important for us not to dwell
on it as we critique the problems by relying too
much on them. Like anything, moderation is
a good way not to become too dependent. To
mitigate this, we need to find a healthy balance
between technology and society. This could
mean limiting the amount of time you spend on
your phone, allowing yourself to find an answer
to a problem without having to immediately
find it online.
Is society too dependent on technology?
Technology is a great resource in the classroom,
and it can help us gain the skills we need for a
successful career. But it must come with learning
how to navigate the requirements of education
and the profession of the future without relying
solely on technology.

Treetify Pvt. Ltd.
Humans have a moral obligation to protect the
environment and promote the sustainable development
of the planet for future generations. Environmental
degradation is detrimental and is jeopardizing the long-
term health and security of animals, plants, and humans.
Now more than ever, it is important that we understand
the impact our actions have on the environment. To
become more environmentally aware, we also need to
take measures to protect the planet and hopefully undo
some of the damage already caused by human activity.
Behaving in a more environmentally conscious manner
can be as simple as making minor changes to your
lifestyle. Individuals affect the environment in a variety
of ways including pollution emission to land, air, and
water, use of natural resources, energy consumption,
and waste.
Treetify Pvt. Ltd is a team of millennials gathered up
through this start-up, fighting for their and coming
generations’ future. They impart information and
knowledge to educate people and bring Environmental
Empathy into everyone’s heart. They do a lot of
research, planning then execution to keep everything
aligned sustainably while delivering plants, products,
and services, also maintaining the fund flow for
the cause.
It was the year 2019, Kullu District Himachal Pradesh,
they were trekking to one of the very famous places
in Parvati Valley, Kheerganga. While on the trek, with
ecstatic views and soothing white noises, there were
domes of plastic at all the places. At 13000 ft. above sea
level, seriously? That’s all humans left behind. Returning
from the trek, it was no day passed till October 2020
without reading and looking more after about these
issues. Concluding that people’s quick education and
lasting empathy should be the very first step. They
decided to start Treetify to look for like-minded people
to put in work together for a sustainable future.

Why is environmental awareness
important?
There is no doubt that human activity is hugely
responsible for damaging the environment. The fact
that concentrations of greenhouse gases have increased
by more than a third since the industrial revolution
highlights our impact. Therefore, it is our responsibility
to improve our environmental awareness and change
our behavior.
The rise in greenhouse gas emissions contributes to
the enhanced greenhouse effect, which has caused
global temperatures to rise. These gases also cause air,
land, and water pollution. Pollution affects the quality
of food, which might cause the ingestion of toxic
substances. Poorer air quality also poses severe risks to
human health.
Deforestation is another example of how human activity
is impacting the environment. Forests provide us with
raw materials such as food and medicine. Trees are also
an important ‘carbon sink’, which means they help to
balance out the concentrations of carbon dioxide in
the atmosphere by absorbing it during photosynthesis.
With fewer trees, we are enhancing the greenhouse
effect which means global temperatures are rising.
This causes drastic climate changes such as hurricanes,
droughts, and floods.
Conclusion
Treetify Pvt. Ltd communicates a positive influence
on the citizens of India about how all humans are
an integral part of nature and they must empathize
with nature to create balance and harmony. They at
Treetify pledge to make every Indian a warrior in this
fight against the destruction of nature. Because in
the coming avoidable catastrophe no one should be
left behind.

MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
The biggest problem the world is facing today is
environmental pollution. Environmental impacts
include the five basic types of pollution: air, water,
soil, noise, and light. Environmental pollution is
the contamination of the physical and biological
components of the earth to such an extent that normal
environmental processes are adversely affected.
Air pollution affects all things. It is harmful to our
health, and it impacts the environment - reducing
visibility and blocking sunlight, causing acid rain, and
harming forests, wildlife, and agriculture. Greenhouse
gas pollution, the cause of climate change, affect the
entire planet.
Effects Of Air Pollution
The effects of air pollution on the human body depend
on the type of pollutant and the length and level
of exposure, as well as other factors, including the
individual’s health risks and the cumulative effects of
multiple pollutants or stressors.
	Harm To Human Health: Ground-level ozone
causes the muscles in the lungs to contract, making
breathing difficult. Exposure to high levels of ozone
can cause sore throat, cough, inflammation of the
lungs, and permanent damage to the lungs.
	Harming Animals and Plants: Damage to the
respiratory system is the most common effect
on animals, but neurological problems and skin
irritation are also common.
Ozone pollution harms plants by damaging structures
called stomata, which are tiny pores on the underside
of leaves that allow the plant to “breathe.” Some types
of plants can protect themselves by temporarily closing
their stomata or by producing antioxidants, but others
are particularly vulnerable to damage.
30 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
The environmental effects
Effects of Water pollution
	Affects Aquatic Life: Water contamination has a
significant impact on aquatic life. It affects their
metabolism and behavior, as well as causes disease
and death. Dioxin is a toxin that causes a variety
of issues, ranging from reproductive issues to
uncontrolled cell development and cancer. This
chemical accumulates in fish, poultry, and meat.
Chemicals like these make their way up the food
chain before entering the human body.
	Groundwater contamination: Pesticides and
fertilizers used in agricultural production pollute
groundwater as well as our ecology. If this
groundwater is directly delivered to our home via
bore-wells or tube-wells, it will cause a multitude of
health issues.
	Affects Human Health: Pollution affects humans,
and fecal matter in water sources can cause illnesses
such as hepatitis. Poor drinking water treatment and
contaminated water can always lead to an epidemic
of infectious illnesses like cholera.
Effect of Soil Pollution
	Effects on humans: The contamination of soil has
a major consequence on human health. Crops and
plants that are grown on polluted soil absorb most of
the pollution and then pass them to humans. Living,
working, or playing in contaminated soil can lead to
respiratory diseases, skin diseases, and other health
problems. Diseases caused by soil pollution include
Irritation of the skin and the eyes, headaches, nausea,
vomiting, coughing, pain in the chest, and wheezing.
	Effects on Plants: In such a short period, plants are
unable to adapt to the soil change chemistry. Fungi
and bacteria found in the soil that bind them together
start to decline, which creates an additional problem
in soil erosion. Regular use of chemical fertilizers,
inorganic fertilizers, pesticides will decrease the
fertility of the soil and alter the structure of the soil.
This will lead to a decrease in soil quality and poor
quality of crops. The fertility of the soil diminishes
slowly, making land unsuitable for agriculture and
any local vegetation to survive.
	Effects on the Ecosystem: The soil is an important
habitat for different types of microorganisms, birds,
and insects. Thus, changes in the chemistry of soil can
negatively impact the lives of living organisms and
can result in the gradual death of many organisms.
Conclusion
If pollution is not controlled, by 2030, our environment
will become so poisonous that it will be necessary to use
an oxygen kit to breathe easily. Rising pollution will also
lead to premature aging. Human exposure to different
kinds of toxins will increase to a great extent leading to
unbalance of the ecosystem.

What is Carbon Footprint?
The Ecological Footprint framework addresses climate
change in a comprehensive way beyond measuring
carbon emissions. It shows how carbon emissions
compare and compete with other human demands on
our planet, such as food, fibers, timber, and land for
dwellings and roads.
Today, the term “carbon footprint” is often used as
shorthand for the amount of carbon (usually in tonnes)
being emitted by an activity or organization. The
carbon footprint is also an important component of the
Ecological Footprint since it is one competing demand
for biologically productive space. Carbon emissions
from burning fossil fuels accumulate in the atmosphere
if there is not enough biocapacity dedicated to absorbing
these emissions. Therefore, when the carbon footprint
is reported within the context of the total Ecological
Footprint, the tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions
are expressed as the amount of productive land area
required to sequester those carbon dioxide emissions.
This tells us how much biocapacity is necessary to
neutralize the emissions from burning fossil fuels.
The carbon Footprint is currently 60 percent of
humanity’s overall Ecological Footprint and its most
rapidly growing component. Humanity’s carbon
Footprint has increased 11-fold since 1961. Reducing
humanity’s carbon Footprint is the most essential step
we can take to end overshoot and live within the means
of our planet.
What We Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. Do?

and bring out change for the betterment of Mother
Nature and Ourselves. As a Start-Up Entrepreneur, they
are stepping the first step in this field with all expertise
and shall build up with experienced intellectuals/talents.
Use of Environmental Management Systems:
All businesses should have an EMS that reflects the
regulations and legislations applicable to their specific
organization. The EMS manages environmental
concerns by implementing policies with clear
environmental objectives and targets, and planning
strategies to ensure that the business conforms to
the legislation. For the EMS to successfully identify
the necessary measures to take, the organization
must be clear about all the different aspects of its
environmental impact. Effective planning should
include both references to the objectives outlined in the
company policy, and a detailed understanding of the
legal requirements.
Why do we need environmental
management systems?
Having an effective EMS helps businesses reduce their
impact on the environment, as well as improve health
and safety for both employees and the community.
An EMS also ensures that a company’s activities do
not defy any environmental legislation or regulations.
With an increased focus on energy efficiency and waste
management, EMS also helps companies improve their
operating efficiency, which reduces costs. Employees
are also given access to all the environmental concerns
related to their profession, which helps them to
understand the importance of environmental awareness
and individual actions.
An EMS is also an excellent resource for monitoring
objectivesandtrackingprogress.Thisresultsincontinual
improvement and faster achievement of sustainability
goals, which contributes to a positive brand image.
We Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. Is an Environmental
Management Agency that is Committed To Protect
and enhance our environment. They believe that by

A new inventory of national greenhouse gas emissions
has just been launched by the Ministry of Environment
and Physical Planning and UNDP, developed to help
the country meet the requirements of the International
Convention on Climate Change. The information in
this database will be valuable for policy-makers in their
efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate
the effects of climate change. The level of data accuracy
has significantly improved and for the first time, many
new sectors have been included. Aviation is one of the
new sectors included, with data on emissions at a level
of detail and accuracy only achieved by a few developed
countries in the world!
Cool The Globe started with a simple question - ‘What
can I do about climate change?’ they realized that citizen
actions were powerful in combating climate change.
From this was born Cool The Globe App, to help people
reduce their Greenhouse Gas Emissions to a target.
Simple videos about the Cool The Globe App is going
viral across citizen groups, and have reached millions
of people around the globe. Through Cool The Globe,
10,000 Citizens from over 55 countries have joined

Shifting to renewable energy, putting a price on carbon,
and phasing out coal are all important elements in
reducingGHGemissions.Ultimately,strongeremission-
reduction targets are necessary for the preservation of
long-term human and environmental health.
“We need to implement strong policies that back the
raised ambitions,” says Mr. Radka. “We cannot continue
down the same path and expect better results. Action is
needed now.”
During COP26, the European Union and the United
States launched the Global Methane Pledge, which
will see over 100 countries aim to reduce 30 percent of
methane emissions in the fuel, agriculture, and waste
sectors by 2030.
Despite the challenges, there is reason to be positive.
From 2010 to 2021, policies were put in place to lower
annual emissions by 11 gigatons by 2030 compared to
what would have otherwise happened. Individuals can

Vaidic Srijan LLP
Organic farming is frequently dismissed as being unscientific,
but this perception is based on a lack of understanding of the
underlying concepts. Researchers in the organic field accept
the scientific discipline whilst at the same time seeking new
methodologies to explore the holistic character of the agricultural
enterprise. Of central importance is the notion that health, food
quality, and the nature of the farming system are inextricably linked.
This paper reviews in scientific terms the key theoretical bases of
the organic approach, and discusses the various methodologies
used in this area. It is argued that a holistic approach to scientific
investigations in agriculture is valid even if at present it is more of an
aspiration than a reality. The principal methods of organic farming
include crop rotation, green manures and compost, biological pest
control, and mechanical cultivation.
At Vaidic Srijan LLP, their mission is to go back to the roots. Make
India, a country of abundance and prosperity. Bring back the self–
reliance and self–sufficiency to the village economy and reinstate
the system where rural was the producer and urban was the
marketplaces.
Vaidic Srijan LLP expertise:
 Blue carbon sink: Normally a polluted waterbody is
contributingtoGHGemissionlikeanyotherpollutionsource
like industries. Vehicular pollution, mines, and cement
production plants. The normal course is the absorption of
oxygen from the air for trying to maintain the dissolved
oxygen level and emission of carbon dioxide, monoxide,
or methane. But this is only when the aqua-ecology is
disturbed badly due to anthropogenic activities like
the addition of sewage & industrial effluent. When
the waterbody is rejuvenated ecologically through
cownomics technology, the natural aqua-ecology
is resuscitated, and the aqua- photosynthesis is

back in action. This transforms the waterbody
into a blue carbon sink, in which tonnes of
atmospheric GHG gets absorbed and fixed in the
wetland ecology.
	Flood mitigation: It is important to understand
the effectiveness of individual measures in terms of
flood mitigation impact when considering structural
solutions for flood mitigation. Depending on locality
and the nature of the flooding, several structural and
non-structural mitigation measures may be available.
However, flood mitigation measures may only lessen
the impact of flooding. No amount of intervention
can stop heavy rain or high tides.
Future management of the risk from flooding will
aim to reduce the risk of flooding by reducing
community vulnerability. This approach will
move people and their assets from the path of
floodwaters. This reduces the potential for loss when
flooding occurs.
	Air pollution: Air pollution can be defined as an
alteration of air quality that can be characterized by
measurements of chemical, biological or physical
pollutants in the air. Therefore, air pollution means
the undesirable presence of impurities or the
abnormal rise in the proportion of some constituents
of the atmosphere. It can be classified into 2 sections:
visible and invisible air pollution.
What do they do?
	At Vaidic Srijan LLP, they take technology & the
best practices from urban to rural and help the rural
in producing more (yield and quality) to fulfill the
demand of the urban, but all in harmony with nature
the Indian way of development.
	They help the rural farmers to earn more, grow
more, and live a life of abundance without leaving
the village.
Organic farming reduces the use of pesticides,
herbicides, and other harmful chemicals which wash off
the major soil flora and fauna. By encouraging organic
farming, natural plants, insects, birds, and animals will
survive and be abundant in the natural environment
there by maintaining the ecological balance.
Vaidic Srijan LLP is on a mission to restore the purity
of water, air, and soil, resulting in the chemical-free
raw food industry of agriculture, dairy, fishery, poultry,
and livestock farming (goat farming, piggery, & sheep
farming, and so on). Thus, eventually making the food
chain, chemical-free. They help people to go organic
and eco-friendly.

MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
Climate is the average weather in a place over many
years. Climate change is a shift in those average
conditions. The rapid climate change we are now seeing
is caused by humans using oil, gas, and coal for their
homes, factories, and transport. When these fossil fuels
burn, they release greenhouse gases - mostly carbon
dioxide (CO2). These gases trap the Sun’s heat and cause
the planet’s temperature to rise.
According to the latest report from the United Nations
Climate Panel, the negative effects of climate change are
accelerating much faster than scientists predicted less
than a decade ago. Many of the impacts are inevitable
and will affect the world’s most vulnerable populations
the most, it warns - but the collective action of
governments to both curb greenhouse-gas emissions
and prepare communities to live with global warming
has yet to take place. can prevent the worst outcomes.
“The cumulative scientific evidence is unequivocal,” says
Maarten van Aalst, a climate scientist who heads the
Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre in Enschede,
the Netherlands, and is a co-author of the report.
“Any further delay in global action on adaptation and
mitigation will miss a brief and rapidly closing window
of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable
future for all.”
One of the most visible consequences of a warming
world is an increase in the intensity and frequency
of extreme weather events. The National Climate
Assessment shows that the number of heatwaves,
heavy rains, and major storms has increased in the
United States, and the strength of these events has
also increased.
One measure of the economic impact of extreme
weather is the increasing number of disasters worth
billions of dollars, shown below. The map shows all
types of weather disasters, some of which are known
to be affected by climate change (floods, tropical
storms) and some for which a climate impact is
uncertain (tornadoes).
38 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
Brutal truth of climate change
(Part 02)
How will different parts of the world be
affected?
Climate change has different effects in different regions
of the world. Some places will be hotter than others,
some will receive more rainfall and others will face
more drought.
	The UK and Europe will be vulnerable to flooding
caused by extreme rainfall
	Countries in the Middle East will experience extreme
heatwaves and farmland could turn to desert
	Island nations in the Pacific region could disappear
under rising seas
	Many African nations are likely to suffer droughts
and food shortages
	Drought conditions are likely in the western US,
while other areas will see more intense storms

Australia is likely to suffer extremes of heat
and drought
What can we do?
Major changes need to come from governments and
businesses, but scientists say some small changes in our
lives can limit our impact on the climate:
	Take fewer flights
	Live car-free or use an electric car

Buy energy-efficient products, such as washing
machines, when they need replacing
	Switch from a gas heating system to an electric heat
pump to Insulate your home.
Does What We Do Matter?
Yes. When human activities create greenhouse gases,
the Earth heats up. This matters because energy from
the ocean, land, air, plants, animals and the sun all affect
each other. The combined effect of all these things gives
us our global climate. In other words, Earth’s climate
acts like one large, connected system.
If society continues to rely on fossil fuels to the extent
that it is currently doing, then carbon dioxide (CO2)
concentrations in the atmosphere are expected to
double from pre-industrial values by about 2050, and
triple by about 2100. This ‘high emissions’ pathway for
CO2, coupled with rises in the other greenhouse gases,
would be expected to result in global-average warming
of around 4.5°C by 2100, but possibly as low as 3°C or
as high as 6˚C. A ‘low emissions’ pathway, based on a
rapid shift away from fossil fuel use over the next few
decades, would see warming significantly reduced later
this century and beyond.

  • 6. From the EDITOR O ur environment has provided some glimpse of our so-called development in a couple of centuries. Planet Earth is getting warmer, and the climate cycle is getting uneven. Every corner of the globe is feeling the heat & there is no sign of slowing down the pace of global warming. The Industrial Revolution has contributed at large to this consequence. Clean technology, popularly called cleantech, has evolved as an option to make things correct from the past. Various technological advancements are being made to counter the climate change issue. Sustainable marketplace and eco-friendly products are gaining popularity as the climate is pushing several authorities & public to keep the environment balanced. Corporate giants around the globe are directed to contribute to this global crisis by maintaining ecological balance without affecting economic benefits. On the other side, startups are taking an active part in solving this crisis by delivering dedicated services & products that are not just eco-friendly, but have economic factors as well.
  • 7. The question still arises, “why do we need clean technology?” If we study the pattern of seasons annually for the last two decades, we clearly have proof of what we have done to this planet. Several countries, including so-called developed nations, are even part of this man-made crisis. European nations & American nations have witnessed some harsh responses from mother nature in the form of natural disasters. The problem is big so is the opportunity. The waste problem is a big challenge as there is no chance of getting that waste decomposed naturally. Startups have come up with some ground-breaking ideas & technology that have turned the waste problem into a new type of raw material. Energy is one of those necessities that has become an integral part of our daily lives. Renewable energy sources are becoming even more substantial than the current fossil powered energy sector. In our latest edition of “The 10 Most Promising Clean Tech Startups 2022” in the cover story, we have Rahul Nainani, Co-Founder & CEO of ReCircle. The company has created a business model where they collect recyclable materials at your doorstep. SwiftNLift focuses on spot-lighting firms and startups that contribute to shaping lives better with their intention to make our society a better place. It was a collective effort made by our team to bring this edition. As the Chief Editor, I am grateful to have you as our reader. I hope you enjoy reading this piece of our efforts. We have other sections filled with trusted and resourceful knowledge & information to garner your reading habit. Nilesh Sabe Chief Editor - Nilesh Sabe

  • 12. ReCircle Recycling is one of the best and most effective ways to keep the environment impregnable. Because only reusing can lower the amount of waste and save natural resources for the future. Less landfill trash can save air and water from pollution. Did you know – If we recycle one aluminum, we can be able to save enough energy to run a TV for 3 hours (Obviously depends on the energy consumption of your TV)? It might sound unbelievable but it’s true. This can give you an idea that how much energy can be saved if we take recycling seriously. Recycling will reduce the amount of landfill waste that is potentially hazardous to the environment. Recycled materials can be cheaper for manufacturers than virgin materials and this can help reduce the cost of those products. Recircle is a resource recovery enterprise that works to divert waste away from landfills and oceans, to bring it back into the economy to be reused, recycled, or repurposed, thereby promoting responsible and sustainable consumption of resources. It endeavors to benefit society by building an inclusive, ethical, and circular eco-system, creating capacity and organized employment within the informal economy, and promoting dignity along with better living standards for workers from all sections of society. In 2016 they started as a RaddiConnect an online portal to provide doorstep pick up for recyclables in Mumbai. Afteroneyeartheystartedworkingwiththegovernment to set up a Material Recovery Facility - an infrastructure for recovery of resources. In 2018 they began helping manufacturers to comply with their Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and neutralize their plastic footprint. And finally, in 2021 they transformed to ReCircle – A resource recovery enterprise with a vision of Ethical Circularity. How They Work:  You schedule a pickup on their website or locate the nearest point to drop off the recyclables.  They weigh the collected recyclables and send you a confirmation via SMS or E-mail.  Proceeds from recycling go on to support a cause. You receive an acknowledgment for it.  You can subsequently track or measure the impact score on your profile. Rahul Nainani Co Founder & CEO 12 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
  • 13. Services they provide:  Pickup: Their digital platform offers a seamless way for you to dispose of all your dry recyclables - paper, metal, plastic, and glass. Their verified resource partners, who are none other than your neighborhood raddi waalas collect all the recyclables from you on a scheduled date and time. Proceeds from recycling those resources go on to support a cause.  Drop-Off:Theirdensenetworkofresourcepartnersmakesithighly convenient to drop off any recyclables like paper, plastic, metal, and glass at multiple locations in and around your neighborhood. Find the nearest point using their digital platform and support a cause by disposing of it responsibly. As per the Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016 by The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Extended Producer’s Responsibility or EPR makes a manufacturer responsible for managing plastic waste after a consumer has used their product. The producers and importers of plastic as well as brand owners that use plastic for packaging are now accountable for managing the end waste. They must treat, recycle or reuse the products after a consumer has disposed them off. At ReCircle, they don’t only offset an equivalent amount of plastic you generate but also certify you in compliance with Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016. They understand that they won’t be able to recover resources from ending up in landfills or oceans till we really challenge the ecosystem that forms the basis of linear economy – produce – use – throw; instead of a circular economy – produce – use – reuse. For that, they trust, they cannot do it alone but only with everyone in the ecosystem. So, they do a lot of collaboratively conceptualized projects towards hitting multiple problems, one at a time. 13 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
  • 14. They Recover, Recycle, Rethink. At ReCircle, their stakeholders are varied and they partner them all - government, brands, and informal sector - to achieve their vision of ethical circularity with multiple services. While they continue to work with the government, enterprises, recyclers & co-processors to manage waste, they also educate consumers about waste segregation and practices that are good for the environment. At every step of the way, their system is driven by data, analytics, and technology to enable transparency and accountability throughout the resource value chain. A resource recovery enterprise working towards a sustainable future. They do this by preventing resources from entering landfills and oceans. Rather, they direct them back into the economy for recycling, reusing, or repurposing. They aim to build an inclusive, ethical, and circular ecosystem, using organized employment for waste workers within the informal economy. By doing this, they ensure the security of jobs and dignified life for workers from all sections of society. 14 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
  • 15. At ReCircle they Vision to see a world where no resources are wasted by pursuing and promoting ethical circularity. And their Mission is working to move towards a circular economy for waste. They want to createinfrastructureforwastemanagement (collection, segregation, processing). Most importantly they influence brands to adopt sustainable processes. • 16. Introduction The Indian automotive industry is undergoing restructuring, as the need for strict climate change policy implementation has been rising each day. Researchers and scientists around the globe have declared warnings for all the big cities on the coastlines. Vehicularpollutionhasbecomeoneofthemajorreasons formedicaldisabilitiesrelatedtolungsandbreathing. All the big cities, especially in the Northern section of India, have been the worst in terms of breathable air quality. Delhi, ournationalcapital, hasbecomethemostpolluted national capital in the world. This was a final warning for the governments and residents of India to restructure our transport system, or else it could get worse than we could imagine. To address this alarming issue, EV startups came forward. Electric vehicles are currently playing a vital role for citizens who are trapped in a contaminated environment. Battery-powered vehicles have no tailpipe emission that releases multiple toxic chemicals into the air. To ensure continuity in the transition EVs need charging infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted driving. One of the finest growing startups in the EV charging industry is AKR Infra Corporation. We had this opportunity to have a conversation with the Co- Founder & CEO, Mr. CK Sashikumar, and Co-Founder & VP of Operations, Anandha Prabhu. We had this question & answer session, which is as under: What made you establish AKR Infra? Why did you choose to become an EV charger provider? Even doctors recommend walking at least in the morning to give your brain and body ample amount of oxygen that keeps blood vessels clean, keeping your blood pressure under control. India being one of the most populated countries with one of the fastest growing economy in the world is facing critical issue of polluted/contaminated air. Major Indian cities, including our national capital ranks at the top of most polluted cities in the world. To address this serious issue many startups are getting into shape. One of such responsible startup is AATHMA PRANAVAAYU PVT LTD. Let’s dive deep to know more about them. At first, we would like to know about the inception story of Aathma Pranavaayu. What made you think of creating this company? Two young Science lovers coming together at a common science lecture forum wanting to contribute something to the humanity/society that enhances their livelihood without disturbing the ecosystem and solving a most important problem. Thus the company AATHMA PRANAVAAYU PVT LTD was formed to address the ever-growing air pollution that is the root cause for most of the problems. What kind of technology are you implanting for air purification? Thetechnologyrevolvesaroundartificialphotosynthesis to obtain higher yield of biomass which can consume Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the indoor environment and converting them into oxygen, given out enriched breathable oxygenated air. What according to you have created the scenario of utilizing technology to purify the breathable air? All existing air purifiers are simply just chemical filters (made from plastic compositions) that work on the concept of trapping the PM2.5 and PM10 along with some toxins and not addressing the actual problem which are the VOCs present in the environment. Also, the replaceable filters are adding on to the pollution not to forget the trapped pollutants being released back into the environment. 1 The Most Promising Clean Tech Startups In 2022 18 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
  • 19. We wanted to use the naturally available resources to address the very same problem and create a sustainable clean green tech solution for air purification. Being a Bio Air purifier that has Zero Waste where the biomass itself has multiple uses like fertilizers and pet feed. Howdoyoutakethischallengeofpurifying air which is filled with multiple micro elements? We contain and grow the biomass and feed it with adequate nutrients along with artificial lighting that suits best for photosynthesis and give good yield as well as help in converting the VOCs into oxygen. Also, the biomass is maintained at a pH value that most microorganisms cannot survive. The PM2.5 and PM10 are also suspended in the water molecules thus not letting them escape back into the atmosphere. What difficulties are you witnessing in your research? The major difficulty was proving a new concept with values as there were not proper facilities available at our disposal and even if they were, it was expensive for a startup to afford for testing and scaling up the prototype as there was not enough funding support. For VOCs we are trying to incorporate best sensor. What is the USPs of solution? First-ever commercial bio air purifier for home use. In-built air quality monitor. Lightweight, low noise & self-contained. Replaces ~12 plants in a room. Home décor with built-in light. Reduces risk of asthma, COPD & other respiratory ailments. • 20. Tensor Dynamics Pvt Ltd How did you have the thought of establishing a Weather & Climate analytics company? I was always inclined towards sustainable energy. While I was writing my M.Tech dissertation in Renewable power forecasting in collaboration with the Power grid of India, I realized the growing importance of climate sciences in the ongoing power sector transition. Reflecting more upon it, I gathered how Climate science and its application in different sectors are most crucial for fighting climate change. My interest in the field and the importance of its application in future growth led me to start a Weather and Climate analytics company. What kind of challenges did you face initially? I started this company alone and I could not find any of my colleagues or friends to join in full time; I was handling all the operations of my start-up alone with almost no money to start with as, I was just finishing my M.Tech at that time. My Professor, Dr. Somnath Baidya Roy, helped me register the company as one of the directors and guided me through the initial phase. Another major challenge I face is with investors. Indian investors are keen to invest in a business with high opportunities in the current market with traction. The kind of business Tensor Dynamics is doing involves a lot of R&D, which investors find difficult to understand in terms of business. How has been the journey of Tensor Dynamics so far? It has been a tough road as I started fresh out of college without any funding or team. I relied on myself to learn, build, and sell. We have done development projects with the major names in the industry like Power Grid of India, NTPC, and Adani Renewables till now. With the help of insights that I found working with these giants, I also developed a solution to tackle the utmost challenge with grid integration of renewable energy and filed a provisional patent on it. • 22. 22 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift There is no doubt that the exponential growth of technology has benefited society, but the rise of the machine has a dark side as well. As people become more and more technologically connected, some worrythatwearemissingoutonimportantaspects of the human experience, becoming impatient, impulsive, forgetful, and even narcissistic. This is why experts are questioning society’s dependence on technology: what it is, how it came to be, and what we can do to reduce the risk of dependence in a time of technological advancement. Technology plays a major role in our lives, and most of us may find it difficult to remember a time when phones, computers, tablets, and other devices were not a part of everyday life. While technology certainly makes life easier and more convenient, many people wonder whether our society is dependent on technology. So, is society too dependent on technology? Don’t worry, today we will know. Technology has had a huge impact on every aspect of society. It has expanded our ways of entertainment, changed the way we communicate, increased our ability to travel, and even influenced social change within our societies. The more technology has advanced, the more impact it has had on society as a whole. After the rapid development of technology (from the invention of electricity to the automobile to the computer) let’s take a look at where society was in the 19th century versus where it went in the 20th century. How much is too much? Mahatma Buddha rightly said, “Excessive amount of everything is harmful.” It seems the same goes for technology as well. While technology is seeping into every part of human lives, it doesn’t necessarily lead them towards progress and betterment. It brings along unprecedented Dependency on technology
  • 23. 23 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift upheavals for human society, which could prove to be disastrous if individuals do not start taking the right steps today. Since its birth, technology has been a cause of concern for humans as it has the potential to replace them in various jobs. At least humans were assured that AI would never do a thing they could, which is getting creative but then the unimaginable happened. Art pieces by Ai. Da, probably the world’s first AI artist, poems by Google’s algorithm-generated PoemPortraits or music composed by an AI music engine called AIVA and tons of other software, applications, and a few humanoids are slowly taking over the creative world that humans proudly claimed to be theirs. EffectsofTechnologyonMentalHealth In our ever-changing world, the use of technology is continuously expanding. It influences every area of our lives, from our ability to communicate with loved ones to accessing information at our fingertips. Unfortunately, we have seen several negative effects of technology on mental health as well. Unfortunately, theeffectsoftechnologyonchildren and youth are not only spreading to a larger population but they have also been shown to be long-lasting as well. To put things in perspective, about 50% of lifelong mental illness cases began by age 14 and 75% began by age 24. With this in mind, it is important to take cautionary steps to mitigate potential risk factors for our children, including their access to technology. These steps may include adding parental controls to control how much time your kids spend on their mobile devices or while watching TV. It is important to note how a child’s exposure to technology and social media can leave a lasting impact on their mental health. Finding The Balance Of Technology And Society Technology has so many advantages and benefits for society, and it is important for us not to dwell on it as we critique the problems by relying too much on them. Like anything, moderation is a good way not to become too dependent. To mitigate this, we need to find a healthy balance between technology and society. This could mean limiting the amount of time you spend on your phone, allowing yourself to find an answer to a problem without having to immediately find it online. Is society too dependent on technology? Technology is a great resource in the classroom, and it can help us gain the skills we need for a successful career. But it must come with learning how to navigate the requirements of education and the profession of the future without relying solely on technology. - Amrin Ahmed

  • 29. Why is environmental awareness important? There is no doubt that human activity is hugely responsible for damaging the environment. The fact that concentrations of greenhouse gases have increased by more than a third since the industrial revolution highlights our impact. Therefore, it is our responsibility to improve our environmental awareness and change our behavior. The rise in greenhouse gas emissions contributes to the enhanced greenhouse effect, which has caused global temperatures to rise. These gases also cause air, land, and water pollution. Pollution affects the quality of food, which might cause the ingestion of toxic substances. Poorer air quality also poses severe risks to human health. Deforestation is another example of how human activity is impacting the environment. Forests provide us with raw materials such as food and medicine. Trees are also an important ‘carbon sink’, which means they help to balance out the concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by absorbing it during photosynthesis. With fewer trees, we are enhancing the greenhouse effect which means global temperatures are rising. This causes drastic climate changes such as hurricanes, droughts, and floods. Conclusion Treetify Pvt. Ltd communicates a positive influence on the citizens of India about how all humans are an integral part of nature and they must empathize with nature to create balance and harmony. They at Treetify pledge to make every Indian a warrior in this fight against the destruction of nature. Because in the coming avoidable catastrophe no one should be left behind. • 30. The biggest problem the world is facing today is environmental pollution. Environmental impacts include the five basic types of pollution: air, water, soil, noise, and light. Environmental pollution is the contamination of the physical and biological components of the earth to such an extent that normal environmental processes are adversely affected. Air pollution affects all things. It is harmful to our health, and it impacts the environment - reducing visibility and blocking sunlight, causing acid rain, and harming forests, wildlife, and agriculture. Greenhouse gas pollution, the cause of climate change, affect the entire planet. Effects Of Air Pollution The effects of air pollution on the human body depend on the type of pollutant and the length and level of exposure, as well as other factors, including the individual’s health risks and the cumulative effects of multiple pollutants or stressors.  Harm To Human Health: Ground-level ozone causes the muscles in the lungs to contract, making breathing difficult. Exposure to high levels of ozone can cause sore throat, cough, inflammation of the lungs, and permanent damage to the lungs.  Harming Animals and Plants: Damage to the respiratory system is the most common effect on animals, but neurological problems and skin irritation are also common. Ozone pollution harms plants by damaging structures called stomata, which are tiny pores on the underside of leaves that allow the plant to “breathe.” Some types of plants can protect themselves by temporarily closing their stomata or by producing antioxidants, but others are particularly vulnerable to damage. 30 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift The environmental effects
  • 31. Effects of Water pollution  Affects Aquatic Life: Water contamination has a significant impact on aquatic life. It affects their metabolism and behavior, as well as causes disease and death. Dioxin is a toxin that causes a variety of issues, ranging from reproductive issues to uncontrolled cell development and cancer. This chemical accumulates in fish, poultry, and meat. Chemicals like these make their way up the food chain before entering the human body.  Groundwater contamination: Pesticides and fertilizers used in agricultural production pollute groundwater as well as our ecology. If this groundwater is directly delivered to our home via bore-wells or tube-wells, it will cause a multitude of health issues.  Affects Human Health: Pollution affects humans, and fecal matter in water sources can cause illnesses such as hepatitis. Poor drinking water treatment and contaminated water can always lead to an epidemic of infectious illnesses like cholera. Effect of Soil Pollution  Effects on humans: The contamination of soil has a major consequence on human health. Crops and plants that are grown on polluted soil absorb most of the pollution and then pass them to humans. Living, working, or playing in contaminated soil can lead to respiratory diseases, skin diseases, and other health problems. Diseases caused by soil pollution include Irritation of the skin and the eyes, headaches, nausea, vomiting, coughing, pain in the chest, and wheezing.  Effects on Plants: In such a short period, plants are unable to adapt to the soil change chemistry. Fungi and bacteria found in the soil that bind them together start to decline, which creates an additional problem in soil erosion. Regular use of chemical fertilizers, inorganic fertilizers, pesticides will decrease the fertility of the soil and alter the structure of the soil. This will lead to a decrease in soil quality and poor quality of crops. The fertility of the soil diminishes slowly, making land unsuitable for agriculture and any local vegetation to survive.  Effects on the Ecosystem: The soil is an important habitat for different types of microorganisms, birds, and insects. Thus, changes in the chemistry of soil can negatively impact the lives of living organisms and can result in the gradual death of many organisms. Conclusion If pollution is not controlled, by 2030, our environment will become so poisonous that it will be necessary to use an oxygen kit to breathe easily. Rising pollution will also lead to premature aging. Human exposure to different kinds of toxins will increase to a great extent leading to unbalance of the ecosystem. - Amrin Ahmed 31 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
  • 32. We Green Energy Private Limited What is Carbon Footprint? The Ecological Footprint framework addresses climate change in a comprehensive way beyond measuring carbon emissions. It shows how carbon emissions compare and compete with other human demands on our planet, such as food, fibers, timber, and land for dwellings and roads. Today, the term “carbon footprint” is often used as shorthand for the amount of carbon (usually in tonnes) being emitted by an activity or organization. The carbon footprint is also an important component of the Ecological Footprint since it is one competing demand for biologically productive space. Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels accumulate in the atmosphere if there is not enough biocapacity dedicated to absorbing these emissions. Therefore, when the carbon footprint is reported within the context of the total Ecological Footprint, the tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions are expressed as the amount of productive land area required to sequester those carbon dioxide emissions. This tells us how much biocapacity is necessary to neutralize the emissions from burning fossil fuels. The carbon Footprint is currently 60 percent of humanity’s overall Ecological Footprint and its most rapidly growing component. Humanity’s carbon Footprint has increased 11-fold since 1961. Reducing humanity’s carbon Footprint is the most essential step we can take to end overshoot and live within the means of our planet. What We Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. Do? Use of Environmental Management Systems: All businesses should have an EMS that reflects the regulations and legislations applicable to their specific organization. The EMS manages environmental concerns by implementing policies with clear environmental objectives and targets, and planning strategies to ensure that the business conforms to the legislation. For the EMS to successfully identify the necessary measures to take, the organization must be clear about all the different aspects of its environmental impact. Effective planning should include both references to the objectives outlined in the company policy, and a detailed understanding of the legal requirements. Why do we need environmental management systems? Having an effective EMS helps businesses reduce their impact on the environment, as well as improve health and safety for both employees and the community. An EMS also ensures that a company’s activities do not defy any environmental legislation or regulations. With an increased focus on energy efficiency and waste management, EMS also helps companies improve their operating efficiency, which reduces costs. • 36. Vaidic Srijan LLP Organic farming is frequently dismissed as being unscientific, but this perception is based on a lack of understanding of the underlying concepts. Researchers in the organic field accept the scientific discipline whilst at the same time seeking new methodologies to explore the holistic character of the agricultural enterprise. Of central importance is the notion that health, food quality, and the nature of the farming system are inextricably linked. This paper reviews in scientific terms the key theoretical bases of the organic approach, and discusses the various methodologies used in this area. It is argued that a holistic approach to scientific investigations in agriculture is valid even if at present it is more of an aspiration than a reality. The principal methods of organic farming include crop rotation, green manures and compost, biological pest control, and mechanical cultivation. At Vaidic Srijan LLP, their mission is to go back to the roots. Make India, a country of abundance and prosperity. Bring back the self– reliance and self–sufficiency to the village economy and reinstate the system where rural was the producer and urban was the marketplaces. Vehicular pollution, mines, and cement production plants. The normal course is the absorption of oxygen from the air for trying to maintain the dissolved oxygen level and emission of carbon dioxide, monoxide, or methane. But this is only when the aqua-ecology is disturbed badly due to anthropogenic activities like the addition of sewage & industrial effluent. When the waterbody is rejuvenated ecologically through cownomics technology, the natural aqua-ecology is resuscitated, and the aqua- photosynthesis is Madhukar Swayambhu Founder 36 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift

This transforms the waterbody into a blue carbon sink, in which tonnes of atmospheric GHG gets absorbed and fixed in the wetland ecology.  Flood mitigation: It is important to understand the effectiveness of individual measures in terms of flood mitigation impact when considering structural solutions for flood mitigation. Depending on locality and the nature of the flooding, several structural and non-structural mitigation measures may be available. However, flood mitigation measures may only lessen the impact of flooding. No amount of intervention can stop heavy rain or high tides. Future management of the risk from flooding will aim to reduce the risk of flooding by reducing community vulnerability. This approach will move people and their assets from the path of floodwaters. This reduces the potential for loss when flooding occurs.  Air pollution: Air pollution can be defined as an alteration of air quality that can be characterized by measurements of chemical, biological or physical pollutants in the air. Therefore, air pollution means the undesirable presence of impurities or the abnormal rise in the proportion of some constituents of the atmosphere. It can be classified into 2 sections: visible and invisible air pollution. What do they do?  At Vaidic Srijan LLP, they take technology & the best practices from urban to rural and help the rural in producing more (yield and quality) to fulfill the demand of the urban, but all in harmony with nature the Indian way of development.  They help the rural farmers to earn more, grow more, and live a life of abundance without leaving the village. Organic farming reduces the use of pesticides, herbicides, and other harmful chemicals which wash off the major soil flora and fauna. By encouraging organic farming, natural plants, insects, birds, and animals will survive and be abundant in the natural environment there by maintaining the ecological balance. Vaidic Srijan LLP is on a mission to restore the purity of water, air, and soil, resulting in the chemical-free raw food industry of agriculture, dairy, fishery, poultry, and livestock farming (goat farming, piggery, & sheep farming, and so on). Thus, eventually making the food chain, chemical-free. They help people to go organic and eco-friendly. Website- https://www.vaidicsrijan.com/ 37 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
  • 38. Climate is the average weather in a place over many years. Climate change is a shift in those average conditions. The rapid climate change we are now seeing is caused by humans using oil, gas, and coal for their homes, factories, and transport. When these fossil fuels burn, they release greenhouse gases - mostly carbon dioxide (CO2). These gases trap the Sun’s heat and cause the planet’s temperature to rise. According to the latest report from the United Nations Climate Panel, the negative effects of climate change are accelerating much faster than scientists predicted less than a decade ago. Many of the impacts are inevitable and will affect the world’s most vulnerable populations the most, it warns - but the collective action of governments to both curb greenhouse-gas emissions and prepare communities to live with global warming has yet to take place. can prevent the worst outcomes. “The cumulative scientific evidence is unequivocal,” says Maarten van Aalst, a climate scientist who heads the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre in Enschede, the Netherlands, and is a co-author of the report. “Any further delay in global action on adaptation and mitigation will miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all.” One of the most visible consequences of a warming world is an increase in the intensity and frequency of extreme weather events. The National Climate Assessment shows that the number of heatwaves, heavy rains, and major storms has increased in the United States, and the strength of these events has also increased. One measure of the economic impact of extreme weather is the increasing number of disasters worth billions of dollars, shown below. The map shows all types of weather disasters, some of which are known to be affected by climate change (floods, tropical storms) and some for which a climate impact is uncertain (tornadoes). 38 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift Brutal truth of climate change (Part 02)
  • 39. How will different parts of the world be affected? Climate change has different effects in different regions of the world. Some places will be hotter than others, some will receive more rainfall and others will face more drought.  The UK and Europe will be vulnerable to flooding caused by extreme rainfall  Countries in the Middle East will experience extreme heatwaves and farmland could turn to desert  Island nations in the Pacific region could disappear under rising seas  Many African nations are likely to suffer droughts and food shortages  Drought conditions are likely in the western US, while other areas will see more intense storms  Australia is likely to suffer extremes of heat and drought What can we do? Major changes need to come from governments and businesses, but scientists say some small changes in our lives can limit our impact on the climate:  Take fewer flights  Live car-free or use an electric car  Buy energy-efficient products, such as washing machines, when they need replacing  Switch from a gas heating system to an electric heat pump to Insulate your home. Does What We Do Matter? Yes. When human activities create greenhouse gases, the Earth heats up. This matters because energy from the ocean, land, air, plants, animals and the sun all affect each other. The combined effect of all these things gives us our global climate. In other words, Earth’s climate acts like one large, connected system. If society continues to rely on fossil fuels to the extent that it is currently doing, then carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations in the atmosphere are expected to double from pre-industrial values by about 2050, and triple by about 2100. This ‘high emissions’ pathway for CO2, coupled with rises in the other greenhouse gases, would be expected to result in global-average warming of around 4.5°C by 2100, but possibly as low as 3°C or as high as 6˚C. A ‘low emissions’ pathway, based on a rapid shift away from fossil fuel use over the next few decades, would see warming significantly reduced later this century and beyond. - Amrin Ahmed 39 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
