Fading Money: the future of home banking and financial services.
The first generation of digital Banks and financial services tried to transform an obscure world into something that could be used by everyone. The first scope was just enabling the access to daily basic functionality through simple web services but many things changed after. The advent of mobile solutions, tablet and smart sensors (beacon, NFC, portable card reader etc.) changed completely the actual landscape and banks needs to adapt their service experiences following new principles: simple, cross-channel and tailored.
Starting from the pillars of modern banking solutions we’ll discover the impact of big data on personal finance management, the role of mobile and desktop interfaces today and how physical branches are reinventing their role to follow this ever-evolving ecosystem.
We’ll discover also how intelligent systems can create tailored financial experiences for mass market, supporting the user in improving his knowledge of economics and creating personalized offers based on analytics and data tracking.
Today home banking is becoming a commodity and user are considering banks more and more as modern personal wallets. Tomorrow artificial intelligence, personal financial advisor, smart branch, wearable devices and the overall cross channel strategy will become the key factors of products differentiation.
Mobile user experience is a new frontier. Untethered from a keyboard and mouse, this rich design space is lush with opportunity to invent new and more human ways for people to interact with information. Invention requires casting off many anchors and conventions inherited from the last 50 years of computer science and traditional design and jumping head first into a new and unfamiliar design space.
In this talk, Rachel will provide:
Insight into how designers and UX professionals can navigate the unfamiliar and fast-changing mobile landscape with grace and solid thinking.
In-depth information on advanced mobile design topics UX professionals will spend the next 10+ years pioneering
Tools and frameworks necessary to begin tackling mobile UX problems in this rapidly changing design space.
While there is some truth to “some amount of innate talent is required to be a true artist”, it’s not necessarily so in learning how to design. And as developers, we’ve all found ourselves struggling when called on to be both the designer and developer of a website. There are processes and techniques you can use to create a well designed site. From “hierarchy of content” to “font usage” to “proximity of elements”, I will teach you how to develop an eye for design that will carry you through any task, and may even alter how you see the world as you learn related patterns are everywhere.

Back in 2012, a very luck group of individuals got to witness Joe Smith’s “How to Use One Paper Towel” talk at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. It was short. It was meaningful. And, it is still being talked about today.

The 4 Must-Haves and Must-Nots for Pitch Deck Presentations
1. visit the Ethos3 blog
Always set aside time to practice. We
recommend practicing your presentation
7-8 times before your pitch.
Get your brand recognized. Stick to the same
color scheme, font type and illustration style
for each slide.
Frame your pitch deck around a personal
story. Increase your credibility and make
an emotional connection with your audience.
Emphasize one idea per slide. Don’t
overload your slides - and your audience -
with too many details at once.
Too much text on a slide
takes away from your design
and is hard for your
audience to follow.
Practice your body movements, facial
expressions and hand gestures. Don’t be a
statue on stage.
The average attention span
for an audience is 10 minutes.
Avoid rambling or getting off topic.
Do your research on
your audience.
Make sure your message
can solve what keeps
them up at night.
