2. The article uses a drop capital
which follows the conventions of a
music magazine, this is done in
order to draw the readers eye
towards the text.
The lead singer is positioned in
the front of the camera shot
which is conventional to typical
magazines as it lets the
audience recognise the band,
whereas the other band
members are positioned in the
foreground, perhaps
suggesting that they have less
importance in comparison to
Caleb.
The structure of the text is set
out in columns which suggests
that the target audience of this
music magazine is more aimed
towards teenagers and older
people. It also makes the text
more appealing and formal.
The repetition of the band name is done in order to inform the reader on who they are
reading about. The name is also highlighted in red on the right side page which shows
the significance and importance of the band seem as though the article is based on
them.
This heading is appropriate as
the band the article is based
on is ‘Kings Of Leon’ which
makes the headline
significant. It also takes up a
quarter of the page as the
writer wants the audience to
look at it immediately when
turning pages of the
magazine. It’s very eye
catching which emphasises
my point.
The colour scheme of the article
is quite dark which indicates
why the band are also wearing
dark colours. However, they are
positioned in front of a tree with
lights on which contradicts the
dark colours however works
effectively. It also suggests the
time period that this article was
published. This is also shown in
the heading as the article is
called ‘We Four Kings’ which
links to the semantic field of
Christmas.
This mini quote from Caleb is inserted in the article to intrigue the reader. It gives the article more
realism. The quote is also higher in font than the rest of the text to signify the importance once again. In
addition to this, Caleb’s name is highlighted in red as it is also a name (which links to the Kings Of Leon
quote in the subheading. It is done in order to attract the readers attention.
