Victor Vasarely was a Hungarian-born artist who pioneered the op art style of geometric abstract art. He lived and worked primarily in Paris from 1908 to 1997. His work was influenced by the problems of modern cities and aimed to present a clear view of color and surface perception. Jake Chamberlain chose Vasarely as the subject of his 8th grade art history project and expressed liking Vasarely's artwork for its confusing yet well-designed geometric patterns.
