Abstract: Phases of matter and the transitions between them is a thoroughly studied and well-understood field in statistical mechanics. The fascinating theory of equilibrium critical phenomena has led to the discovery of universality in physics and its explanation by the renormalization group. In this talk, I will present a less known description of phase transitions using the Fisher information matrix, which yields itself to generalizations for non-equilibrium phenomena. I will present results for transitions between complex patterns in the Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion system. Finally, I will present some initial results from the study of regimes in electric vehicle charging patterns in The Hague and Amsterdam. Speaker : Yuki Ikuno Date: 07-03-2016
