The document summarizes the Rural Development Plan for 2007-2013 implemented by the Terre di Murgia Local Action Group (LAG) in Italy. The plan focused on improving quality of life in rural areas and diversifying the rural economy through multifunctional agriculture. Specifically, the LAG supported diversification into non-farm activities like agritourism, crafts, and tourism. It also aimed to provide basic services, conserve rural heritage, and offer training. The LAG has since implemented several projects focused on these objectives, and its new strategy for 2014-2020 will center on developing short supply chains and sustainable tourism through a bio-district model.
