John 13:34-35; Listen without interrupting; speak without accusing; Give without sparing; Pray without ceasing; Answer without arguing; share without pretending; enjoy with out complaint; trust without wavering; forgive without punishing; Promise without forgetting.
2. John 13:34-35 A new
commandment I give to you,
that you love one another; as I
have loved you, that you also
love one another. (35) by this
all will know that you are my
disciples, if you have love for
one another.“
3. YOUR LOVE?
A.Saying you love someone is easy.
B. Showing them through your action
is much more difficult.
C. We will look at ten ways to show
your love.
4. I. LISTEN WITHOUT INTERPRETING
Proverbs 18:13 He who answers a
matter before he hears it, It is folly
and shame to him.
5. II. SPEAK WITHOUT ACCUSING
James 1:19 So then, my beloved
brethren, let every man be swift to
hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
6. III. GIVE WITHOUT SPARING
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to
you: good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and running over
will be put into your bosom. For with
the same measure that you use, it will
be measured back to you.“
7. IV. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
Colossians 1:9 For this reason we also,
since the day we heard it, do not
cease to pray for you, and to ask that
you may be filled with the knowledge
of His will in all wisdom and spiritual
understanding;
8. V. ANSWER WITHOUT ARGUING
Proverbs 17:1 Better is a dry morsel
with quietness, Than a house full of
feasting with strife.
9. VI. SHARE WITHOUT PRETENDING
Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do
good, and lend, hoping for nothing in
return; and your reward will be great,
and you will be sons of the Most
High. For He is kind to the unthankful
and evil.
10. VII. ENJOY WITHOUT COMPLAINT
Philippians 2:14 Do all things without
complaining and disputing,
11. VIII. TRUST WITHOUT WAVERING
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love suffers long
and is kind; love does not envy; love
does not parade itself, is not puffed
up; (5) does not behave rudely, does
not seek its own, is not provoked,
thinks no evil; (6) does not rejoice in
iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; (7)
bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
12. IX. FORGIVE WITHOUT PUNISHING
Colossians 3:12-13 Therefore, as the
elect of God, holy and beloved, put
on tender mercies, kindness, humility,
meekness, longsuffering; (13) bearing
with one another, and forgiving one
another, if anyone has a complaint
against another; even as Christ
forgave you, so you
13. X. PROMISE WITHOUT FORGETTING
A. Deuteronomy 23:23 That which has
gone from your lips you shall keep
and perform, for you voluntarily
vowed to the LORD your God what
you have promised with your
mouth.
B. Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred
makes the heart sick, But when the
desire comes, it is a tree of life.
14. YOUR LOVE?
A. Letting someone know you love them with
words is important.
B. But, if we don’t show them our love in our
actions the words are meaningless.- 1 John
3:18-19 My little children, let us not love in
word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19
And by this we know that we are of the truth,
and shall assure our hearts before Him.
C. Words don’t meet the needs of those around
us. - James 2:15-16 If a brother or sister is
naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of
you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed
and filled," but you do not give them the things
which are needed for the body, what does it
profit?
15. YOUR LOVE?
D. James equates this with faith without
works. - James 2:17-20 Thus also faith
by itself, if it does not have works, is
dead. 18 But someone will say, "You
have faith, and I have works." Show me
your faith without your works, and I will
show you my faith by my works. 19 You
believe that there is one God. You do
well. Even the demons believe--and
tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O
foolish man, that faith without works is
dead?
16. YOUR LOVE?
E. Do you think faith will save you without the
actions to back it up? - James 2:21-26 Was not
Abraham our father justified by works when he
offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see
that faith was working together with his works,
and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And
the Scripture was fulfilled which says,
"Abraham believed God, and it was accounted
to him for righteousness." And he was called
the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is
justified by works, and not by faith only. 25
Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also
justified by works when she received the
messengers and sent them out another way? 26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so
faith without works is dead also.
17. DO YOU LOVE GOD?
Do your actions show your love for
God?
John 14:21 He who has My
commandments and keeps them, it
is he who loves Me. And he who
loves Me will be loved by My Father,
and I will love him and manifest
Myself to him."
