Temporary Operations Working (Hand Signalling and Ground
frame Working) For Sentul Station During SRSB Stage Work 1.
1.Introduction:
This type of working had been used before on the KTMB System.
This working only applies to the Station Section during the
rebuilding, Construction and transition of works when building of
new station or reconstruction of new signaling system. This working
will be applied during emergencies and it is base on the Signalling
non interlock system which has certain provisions added to it as to
make safer and reliable for operations than the actual a non
interlock system as to avoid any occurrence of human errors. This
type of working is in accordance to the KTMB Rules & Regulations,
General Manuals and Standard Operations Procedures. This
working will enable the operations Department (Station Managers)
to monitor, planned and control the movements of all trains and
vehicles routed in and out of Sentul Station into the block section
safely without any disruption to train services.
2.Objectives:
• This is the Temporary Operations Working (Hand Signalling &
Ground Frame Working) where the departure and admission of
trains are carefully planned, Monitored and executed safely by
competent personnel’s of KTMB. This type of working have been
used before on KTMB network during several projects on going and
signalling interfacing and staging works without any mishap
recorded. This working will also ensure that no human error can
occur if it is done in accordance to these procedures, KTMB Rule &
Regulations, Safety Procedures, Standard Operations Procedures
and Station Working Order for emergencies. This working will also
ensure that there will be no disruptions to train services which are
utmost importance for the KTMB Operation Department. This
Temporary Operations Working (Hand Signalling & Ground Frame
working) will be used for a certain period till the staging work are
commissioned by stages from Stage work 1 through Stage work 2c
or until the implementation of the PBI interlocking.
• This working is needed due to transition work of the upgrading as
per on the site changes where signals and track circuits are
relocated to new temporary track, new installations of points,
signals, tracks and also due to changes of the interlocking which
are made as required for the movements of trains in and out of
Sentul Station safely without any disruption.
• SRSB will ensure the most minimum changes are made or required
and the ground frame working are made much safe and simple for
operations.( Points are set to normal or reverse by switching of
buttons from the existing station panel). The proceed and admission
signals in and out of Sentul Station are by Hand Signalling or by
Shunt signal only. Only during and after the upgrading works to the
interlocking as this is the most crucial and safety critical for the safe
movement of trains. This needs to be tested to ensure safety
certified and handover to KTMB Operation Department.
3. Signalling Philosophy:
The Hand Signalling and Ground Frame Working philosophy will be
integrated with the Railway Signalling Principles as to ensure safety
for the movements of trains routed in and out of Sentul Station
without any disruption or mishap. The Philosophy is as follows:
• Route Setting: Is to identify the track sections which the train or
vehicle are to be routed to, (Entrance and destination) are cleared
of any obstruction or no movement contrasting towards that
particular track sections. This can be monitored by the magnetic
tiles with the train configurations on them on the local Panel and
communications to Simpang Batu or CTC and Station Manager in
charge og Ground Frame Working.
• Points Call: The points will be set correctly by the switches at the
Local Panel or hand cranking to the normal or reverse position as
required by the route that are to be taken by the train. This is to be
check and certify by the Station Manager in charge of Ground
Frame Working.
• Points Detected:The points at the track sections that the trains or
vehicles are traveling are correctly set and detected means that the
points are clip lock, checked and certify by the Station Manger ground
frame, the padlock keys are handed over to the Station Manager of
Operations.
• Signal to proceed: When the route for the trains or vehicles are identify
and set, the points are call and detected than only the signal to proceed
is given via Shunt Signal or hand signaling by the Station Manager in
charge of Operations.
4. Staffs For the Hand Signalling and Ground Frame

Temporary Operations Working stage 1

  • 1. Temporary Operations Working (Hand Signalling and Ground frame Working) For Sentul Station During SRSB Stage Work 1. 1.Introduction: This type of working had been used before on the KTMB System. This working only applies to the Station Section during the rebuilding, Construction and transition of works when building of new station or reconstruction of new signaling system. This working will be applied during emergencies and it is base on the Signalling non interlock system which has certain provisions added to it as to make safer and reliable for operations than the actual a non interlock system as to avoid any occurrence of human errors. This type of working is in accordance to the KTMB Rules & Regulations, General Manuals and Standard Operations Procedures. This working will enable the operations Department (Station Managers) to monitor, planned and control the movements of all trains and vehicles routed in and out of Sentul Station into the block section safely without any disruption to train services. 2.Objectives: • This is the Temporary Operations Working (Hand Signalling & Ground Frame Working) where the departure and admission of trains are carefully planned, Monitored and executed safely by competent personnel’s of KTMB. This type of working have been used before on KTMB network during several projects on going and signalling interfacing and staging works without any mishap recorded. This working will also ensure that no human error can occur if it is done in accordance to these procedures, KTMB Rule & Regulations, Safety Procedures, Standard Operations Procedures and Station Working Order for emergencies. This working will also ensure that there will be no disruptions to train services which are utmost importance for the KTMB Operation Department. This is to be check and certify by the Station Manager in charge of Ground Frame Working. • Points Detected:The points at the track sections that the trains or vehicles are traveling are correctly set and detected means that the points are clip lock, checked and certify by the Station Manger ground frame, the padlock keys are handed over to the Station Manager of Operations. • Signal to proceed: When the route for the trains or vehicles are identify and set, the points are call and detected than only the signal to proceed is given via Shunt Signal or hand signaling by the Station Manager in charge of Operations.
