TECTRONIC´s History
Tectronic is a team created by teachers and students on October 2010 at
Prepa Tec Celaya, GJ, Mexico; it emerged after Team 3354 “TecDroid” because
the Alma Mater is the same (Tecnológico de Monterrey). Tectronic´s Rookie
season was at the Colorado Regional in Denver where the team won the Rookie
Inspiration Award due to the amount of effort, different sponsors gotten and a
remarkable robot and attitude on the LOGOMOTION challenge in 2011.
Tectronic offers services to enterprises such as:
 Business by printing the company logo on all promotional items.
 Giving receipts which are taxes deductible.
Since transactions are made with high amounts of money, a daily record of
incomes needs to be made; this is why Tectronic runs as a small business that
has its own mission, vision, and values.
Following the regular season. Tectronic optimizes all the time previous to
the Kickoff in order to achieve fundraising and become a self-sustainable team.
Since Tectronic is a Mexican team, travel expenses need to be considered.
Taking that into account, there is a philosophy of hard-work which provides an
essence and recognition
As it was said before, on 2010 Tectronic participated in Colorado Regional,
which meant the formal foundation of the team and the recognition of some FRC
fellows; on 2010, the team accomplished to win the Rookie Inspiration Award.
During the previous arrangements, the team faced some administration obstacles
since it was founded when there were only six teams in Mexico; at that point
Tectronic faced rough stages between the integration of everyone as a team
and the duties management.
Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015
9
Consequently, the team suffered financially that year, where a
sponsorship for the trip went bad a month before the regional; that circumstances
led the team to look approximately 60% of the funds in a very short amount of
time.Even though it was really precipitated, the team knew how to improve its
situation and made fundraising events such as classic music concerts and sales.
Tectronic´s attitude was something that impressed the judges back in Colorado
regional; the same thing happened three years ago, even though there were
some problems with the robot, the team never lose hope and won the “Team
Spirit Award”.
However, the team is preparing since last year with the fundraising and team
integration; it is very important to learn from mistakes and not repeat them again.
This year, the team assembled a robot, each of the integrants of Tectronic
contributed some help to built it and our target is to win the Mexico`s city regional,
as well as the quest for awards like Engineering Award, Team Spirit Award and
all the other awards that can be given during the competition.

Founding Organization
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Sciene and Techonology) is an
organization founded by inventor and entrepreneur, Dean Kamen, in 1989 to
develop ways to inspire students in engineering and technology fields. The
organization is the foundation of the following robotics program:
 Junior FIRST LEGO League
 FIRST LEGO league
 FIRST TECH Challenge
 FIRST Robotics Competition
FIRST was founded as a not-for-profit public organization with charity
designs accessible, and innovative programs that motivate young people to
pursue education and career opportunities in:
 Science
 Technology
 Engineering
 Math
All of these while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills,
FIRST also operates: FIRST Place, a research facility at FIRST Headquarters
in camps for students and teachers.
GRACIOUS PROFESSIONALISM and COOPERTITION
Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015
11
FIRST seeks to promote a philosophy of teamwork and collaboration among
engineers and encourages competing teams to remain friendly, helping each other
out when necessary. Terms frequently applied to this ethos are “Gracious
Professionalism” and “Cooperation” terms coined by Woodie Flowers and Kamen
that support respect towards one´s competitors and integrity in one´s actions. The
concept of Gracious Professionalism grew from a robotics class that Flowers taught
at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Coopertition is a Word patented under
US Patent 7,507,169 by Dean Kamen.
The first and highest scale program developed through FIRST is the FIRST
Robotics Competition (FRC), which is designed to inspire High School Students to
become engineers by giving them real world experiences working with engineers to
develop a robot.
FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC)
FIRST Robotics Competition is an international high school robotics
competition organized by FIRST. Each year, teams of high school students
compete to build robots weighing up to 120 pounds (54 kg ), not including battery
and bumpers. These robots are supposed to complete task, which changes every
year, in order to compete in a healthy and sportive way.
Since 2005, games have been played with two opposing “alliances”, each
one composed of three teams. Three years ago, the organization had around 1808
FRC teams with over 45000 students from all over the world: United States,
Canada, Mexico, Israel, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and so on. In 2011,
2075 teams were registered in the competition.
The dynamic of the competition goes like this: teams are given a standard
set of parts. A maximum Budget is allowed and to buy or create specialized parts,
as long as they conform to FIRST Safety Rules. The challenge and game details
are revealed at the first week of every year at an event called KICK-OFF. Teams
are given only six weeks to construct a competitive robot that can operate

autonomously as well a when guided by wireless controls in order to accomplish
the game’s tasks.
FIRST IN MEXICO
Ricardo Salinas owner of TVAzteca, is an entrepreneur committed with
mexican youth so as to build a better Mexico; Salinas promotes FIRST’s mission
throughout the country by sponsoring the organization’s events.
The growing of FRC Mexican teams has been really notorious, there are now
41 teams.
 2007:1 team
 2010: 3 teams
 2011: 11 teams ( TECTRONIC’s Rookie Season)
 2012: 21 teams
 2013: 38 teams
 2014: 41 teams
FIRST as an organization, has the support of many businesses and
institutions committed to the children and youth of the country such as Grupo
Salinas through Azteca Foundation, ITESM, ITAM, General Motors Mexico,
Honeywell, Mabe, Bosch, Motorola, Johnson and Johnson, and so on.
For 2013 season, Salinas Group supported multiple teams from Azteca’s
High School, in addition to other public school teams.

13
Community Involvement
In order to be a self-sustainable project, TECTRONIC involves with the
community so that the people know more about FIRST and also as a way to raise
funds; which is the approach that the team has for the community, providing
services, following ethical codes, and being proactive as a Student Group.
For Team 3510, the contact with its surroundings represents a key to the
team's success as well as community's success. Which is why, TECTRONIC, is in
contact with its fellow classmates at school facilities, in order to provide the alumni
with different products, which consequently will be for the team to leave
impressions, besides the extension of the contact information, the extension of a
helping hand willing to help. Among these sales, every semester the team had
authorized two trades, where it had variety of merchandises, such as desserts,
“gorditas” (a typical meal from our region and country), and many other meals.
These sales are gathered with the sales as a student group, Valentine’s
days, every year’s Jr. High school’s tournament (which sponsored by our insititute)
as well as the organization of external events.
As the dynamics for integration and the development of the project, Team
3510, Tectronic, organized diverse events such as parents meetings, etc.
2011: The team had parents meetings for the discussion of the project in
order for them to know every aspect and to get involved with the work of their
children. This meetings were done before the robot build season. Likewise, the
Team received an invitation from the President of Mexico (Felipe Calderón), in
order to receive a recognition regarding the obtaining of the Rookie All-Star
Award.
Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015
14
Besides, within the very start of the following semester, Team 3510, was
formally a Student Group, which elaborated a strategic plan for the whole next
season and organized a parents meeting for involving the new members to the
project. Furthermore, the Team established a dynamic of team meetings every
week, in order to have constant communication with all the new collaborators; this
policy remains to date.
2012: For this year’s season, Tea, 3510 remained with the week gatherings
as well as an integration camp, coordinated by GAM (Grupo Aguilas Méxcio) to
improve group managment and teamwork activities for integration. After this event,
Team 3510 had a pre-regional meeting with the parents, where the points of the
goals reached, amount of funds and sponsors, conditions for the trip, etc.
2013: Afterwards, within the next semester and after the 2012 season, Team
3510 prepared a small reunión for all the team members, where all could get to
know each other by party integration games. Also, reunions with parents were held
in order to expose FIRST, the conditions for the trip and the participation of planned
for little children, before they can know about Robotics they should know the first
basis about computers.
2014: In this year’s season, Tectronic realized, along the semester, a series
of workshops where members of the team were able to get to know more about
mecanincs, electrics, etc. and at the same time were able to spend time with their
partners. As in the other years,

Team Goals
“A goal is a desired result a person or a system envisions, plans and commits
to achieve, which are meant to endeavour to be reached within a finite time by
setting deadlines”. Goal-setting is most forwarded to establish objectives
previously evaluated according to their achievability, time scheduling, how it is
going to be measured and demonstrated, as many other important things on a
major scale process.
Tectronic´s Mission as a group of teachers and students from the Tecnológico
de Monterrey Prepa Celaya is to be an inspiring association moved by the passion
for challenges, robots, engineering, programing, businesses, design, strategic
planning and the solution of pre-established dares or tasks.
For Team 3510, the goal-setting process represents a very important step on
the way to the regionals. The team prepares an exhaustive analysis and
chronogram for every area’s short-term goals, as well as the percentage
comparison between the reached and the pending in order to gather a journal on
everybody’s participation and their opportunity areas.
By the time of March 2015 Tectronic would have participated in Mexico city
Regional of FIRST Robotics Competition, where an award will be achieved to bring
home and interpersonal relations will be created. Also, one of the team’s goal is to
go to honour and wave proud the Mexican flag and the name of the School,
hometown, and state and of course, Mexico.
The purpose remains in the heart of the team; which will lead it to succeed.
The main points of focus are forwarded to the assembly of a competitive robot with
an entrepreneur mini-enterprise behind it with a remarkable business plan
proposal. As it was previously mentioned, Team 3510 is very persistent with
sponsors and fundraisings because every team member who has the real interest
on hard working and team support is the one who works for his place into them.
Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015
16
Each year there are generations of very valuable members who graduate from
High School to chase after their life plans. This circumstance represents a big
challenge for the team due to the integration of the new members and the
departure of such hard working people. We aim to build a competitive robot, even
though sometimes it passes our capacities, we are very enthusiastic.
Consequently, another objective is to make cooperative alliances based on our
high-standard robot which has been built step by step, every day, despite team´s
limits, always looking forward to help when needed and to look for assessment
when needed as well. We’re not afraid to learn. For April 2015 Tecronic’s members
would have developed different abilities in each of the offered areas, developing
on essential and multidisciplinary ways.

STUDENT APPLICATION TO THE TEAM
“TECTRONIC Team 3510” does not reject a member willing to be part of the
team, since this (FIRST) is something that we love and try to everyone in our high
school to know much better. Even though we never say not to people wanting to
be part of the team, each member needs to be commited and of course, dedícate
time to team’s tasks.
Every team member needs to respect each one of the other team members,
since we work as a little family. Besides respecting other team members, there
needs to be respect for mentors, sponsors and parents. If a person does not have
any respect for the others, he or she will be asked to leave the team or to change
the attitude, since this is not good for the mission of wanting a healthy team
environment.
People wanting to be part of the team need to talk to the Chairman and the

Sponsor Relations
Throughout the season, all members of the Logistic Area are responsible
for obtaining sponsorship and raise the necessary funds to support the team. At
the beginning of each season, team members are trained to be able to make a
successful presentation. Obtaining sponsorship and fundraising depends on
certain things.
 Present the project in the best way possible
 Impress the sponsors
 Keep sponsors updated
 Be thankful
 Have an excellent organization and attitude
 Communication between all team members
 Manage time well
The team has made letter formats so as to ask for an appointment to an
enterprise. Once the meeting is arranged, around 4 team members attend to each
engagement with the potential sponsor; a Power-Point Presentation is presented
to the sponsor in an estimated time of 25 minutes. The presentation needs to be
extremely productive; the slides show the mission, vision, FIRST’s history, team’s
history, budget, community involvement and the dynamic of the competition.
The sponsor-team relationships very important because thanks to them
TECTRONIC can achieve many things. It’s necessary to keep all of the sponsors
updated in order for them to know the advantage of their support (and also as a
way to say thanks). After a sponsorship is achieved, the sponsor is recognized in
an especial way by placing its logos on the robot, team uniform and promotional
ítems. The recognition of the sponsors is described at the following table:

  • 8. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 8 TECTRONIC´s History Tectronic is a team created by teachers and students on October 2010 at Prepa Tec Celaya, GJ, Mexico; it emerged after Team 3354 “TecDroid” because the Alma Mater is the same (Tecnológico de Monterrey). Tectronic´s Rookie season was at the Colorado Regional in Denver where the team won the Rookie Inspiration Award due to the amount of effort, different sponsors gotten and a remarkable robot and attitude on the LOGOMOTION challenge in 2011. Tectronic offers services to enterprises such as:  Business by printing the company logo on all promotional items.  Giving receipts which are taxes deductible. Since transactions are made with high amounts of money, a daily record of incomes needs to be made; this is why Tectronic runs as a small business that has its own mission, vision, and values. Following the regular season. Tectronic optimizes all the time previous to the Kickoff in order to achieve fundraising and become a self-sustainable team. Since Tectronic is a Mexican team, travel expenses need to be considered. Taking that into account, there is a philosophy of hard-work which provides an essence and recognition As it was said before, on 2010 Tectronic participated in Colorado Regional, which meant the formal foundation of the team and the recognition of some FRC fellows; on 2010, the team accomplished to win the Rookie Inspiration Award. During the previous arrangements, the team faced some administration obstacles since it was founded when there were only six teams in Mexico; at that point Tectronic faced rough stages between the integration of everyone as a team and the duties management.
  • 9. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 9 Consequently, the team suffered financially that year, where a sponsorship for the trip went bad a month before the regional; that circumstances led the team to look approximately 60% of the funds in a very short amount of time.Even though it was really precipitated, the team knew how to improve its situation and made fundraising events such as classic music concerts and sales. Tectronic´s attitude was something that impressed the judges back in Colorado regional; the same thing happened three years ago, even though there were some problems with the robot, the team never lose hope and won the “Team Spirit Award”. However, the team is preparing since last year with the fundraising and team integration; it is very important to learn from mistakes and not repeat them again. This year, the team assembled a robot, each of the integrants of Tectronic contributed some help to built it and our target is to win the Mexico`s city regional, as well as the quest for awards like Engineering Award, Team Spirit Award and all the other awards that can be given during the competition.
  • 10. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 10 Awards:  2011 “Rookie Inspiration Award” at Colorado Regional.  2012 “Team Spirit Award” at Colorado Regional.  “Premio Juventud Viva” (Youth Alive Award) – Award given by the Youth Institute of our state due to the entrepreneurial actions of a group team.  2013 “Team Spirit Award” at Las Vegas Regional. Founding Organization FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Sciene and Techonology) is an organization founded by inventor and entrepreneur, Dean Kamen, in 1989 to develop ways to inspire students in engineering and technology fields. The organization is the foundation of the following robotics program:  Junior FIRST LEGO League  FIRST LEGO league  FIRST TECH Challenge  FIRST Robotics Competition FIRST was founded as a not-for-profit public organization with charity designs accessible, and innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in:  Science  Technology  Engineering  Math All of these while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills, FIRST also operates: FIRST Place, a research facility at FIRST Headquarters in camps for students and teachers. GRACIOUS PROFESSIONALISM and COOPERTITION
  • 11. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 11 FIRST seeks to promote a philosophy of teamwork and collaboration among engineers and encourages competing teams to remain friendly, helping each other out when necessary. Terms frequently applied to this ethos are “Gracious Professionalism” and “Cooperation” terms coined by Woodie Flowers and Kamen that support respect towards one´s competitors and integrity in one´s actions. The concept of Gracious Professionalism grew from a robotics class that Flowers taught at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Coopertition is a Word patented under US Patent 7,507,169 by Dean Kamen. The first and highest scale program developed through FIRST is the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), which is designed to inspire High School Students to become engineers by giving them real world experiences working with engineers to develop a robot. FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC) FIRST Robotics Competition is an international high school robotics competition organized by FIRST. Each year, teams of high school students compete to build robots weighing up to 120 pounds (54 kg ), not including battery and bumpers. These robots are supposed to complete task, which changes every year, in order to compete in a healthy and sportive way. Since 2005, games have been played with two opposing “alliances”, each one composed of three teams. Three years ago, the organization had around 1808 FRC teams with over 45000 students from all over the world: United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and so on. In 2011, 2075 teams were registered in the competition. The dynamic of the competition goes like this: teams are given a standard set of parts. A maximum Budget is allowed and to buy or create specialized parts, as long as they conform to FIRST Safety Rules. The challenge and game details are revealed at the first week of every year at an event called KICK-OFF. Teams are given only six weeks to construct a competitive robot that can operate
  • 12. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 12 autonomously as well a when guided by wireless controls in order to accomplish the game’s tasks. FIRST IN MEXICO Ricardo Salinas owner of TVAzteca, is an entrepreneur committed with mexican youth so as to build a better Mexico; Salinas promotes FIRST’s mission throughout the country by sponsoring the organization’s events. The growing of FRC Mexican teams has been really notorious, there are now 41 teams.  2007:1 team  2010: 3 teams  2011: 11 teams ( TECTRONIC’s Rookie Season)  2012: 21 teams  2013: 38 teams  2014: 41 teams FIRST as an organization, has the support of many businesses and institutions committed to the children and youth of the country such as Grupo Salinas through Azteca Foundation, ITESM, ITAM, General Motors Mexico, Honeywell, Mabe, Bosch, Motorola, Johnson and Johnson, and so on. For 2013 season, Salinas Group supported multiple teams from Azteca’s High School, in addition to other public school teams.
  • 13. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 13 Community Involvement In order to be a self-sustainable project, TECTRONIC involves with the community so that the people know more about FIRST and also as a way to raise funds; which is the approach that the team has for the community, providing services, following ethical codes, and being proactive as a Student Group. For Team 3510, the contact with its surroundings represents a key to the team's success as well as community's success. Which is why, TECTRONIC, is in contact with its fellow classmates at school facilities, in order to provide the alumni with different products, which consequently will be for the team to leave impressions, besides the extension of the contact information, the extension of a helping hand willing to help. Among these sales, every semester the team had authorized two trades, where it had variety of merchandises, such as desserts, “gorditas” (a typical meal from our region and country), and many other meals. These sales are gathered with the sales as a student group, Valentine’s days, every year’s Jr. High school’s tournament (which sponsored by our insititute) as well as the organization of external events. As the dynamics for integration and the development of the project, Team 3510, Tectronic, organized diverse events such as parents meetings, etc. 2011: The team had parents meetings for the discussion of the project in order for them to know every aspect and to get involved with the work of their children. This meetings were done before the robot build season. Likewise, the Team received an invitation from the President of Mexico (Felipe Calderón), in order to receive a recognition regarding the obtaining of the Rookie All-Star Award.

Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 15 Team Goals “A goal is a desired result a person or a system envisions, plans and commits to achieve, which are meant to endeavour to be reached within a finite time by setting deadlines”. Goal-setting is most forwarded to establish objectives previously evaluated according to their achievability, time scheduling, how it is going to be measured and demonstrated, as many other important things on a major scale process. Tectronic´s Mission as a group of teachers and students from the Tecnológico de Monterrey Prepa Celaya is to be an inspiring association moved by the passion for challenges, robots, engineering, programing, businesses, design, strategic planning and the solution of pre-established dares or tasks. For Team 3510, the goal-setting process represents a very important step on the way to the regionals. The team prepares an exhaustive analysis and chronogram for every area’s short-term goals, as well as the percentage comparison between the reached and the pending in order to gather a journal on everybody’s participation and their opportunity areas. By the time of March 2015 Tectronic would have participated in Mexico city Regional of FIRST Robotics Competition, where an award will be achieved to bring home and interpersonal relations will be created. Also, one of the team’s goal is to go to honour and wave proud the Mexican flag and the name of the School, hometown, and state and of course, Mexico. The purpose remains in the heart of the team; which will lead it to succeed. The main points of focus are forwarded to the assembly of a competitive robot with an entrepreneur mini-enterprise behind it with a remarkable business plan proposal. As it was previously mentioned, Team 3510 is very persistent with sponsors and fundraisings because every team member who has the real interest on hard working and team support is the one who works for his place into them.
  • 16. Team 3510 Business Plan 2014-2015 16 Each year there are generations of very valuable members who graduate from High School to chase after their life plans. This circumstance represents a big challenge for the team due to the integration of the new members and the departure of such hard working people. We aim to build a competitive robot, even though sometimes it passes our capacities, we are very enthusiastic. Consequently, another objective is to make cooperative alliances based on our high-standard robot which has been built step by step, every day, despite team´s limits, always looking forward to help when needed and to look for assessment when needed as well. We’re not afraid to learn. For April 2015 Tecronic’s members would have developed different abilities in each of the offered areas, developing on essential and multidisciplinary ways.
