2. 1.Where does this energy come from?
The geothermal energy consists of the usefulness of the
heat of the internal layers of the terrestrial bark.
3. 2.It is renewable or Non-renewable?
It’s a renewable energy because is generated and stored
in the Earth.
4. 3. What kind of energy transformation takes
place?
We obtain heat energy getting kinetic energy with the
turbine which is used to obtain the electric energy.
5. 4.How do we transform the energy?
By means of the traffic of warm water up to a few turbines
that generate electricity or directly as source of warm
water and heating for population.
6. 5.Enviromental Impact
On having obtained geothermal energy across the power
station it concerns to:
Landscape: On having built a geothermal power station
the landscape gets damaged visually.
Flora and fauna: On having built the geothermal power
station, we destroy part of the flora and in turn the habitat
of the fauna.
Smell: It smells to rotten egg.
7. 6.Is this a good energy source for the Canary
Islands? Why?
Yes. Because the Canary Islands presents a high volcanic
activity and for it, it might be obtained a lot of energy.
For example, in Lanzarote
island recent volcanic
activity is actually present
in the form of geotermic
activity.
8. 7.Pros and Cons
Pros
-It is a source that should avoid the energetic dependence
of the fossil fuels and of other not renewable resources.
-The residues are minimal and cause minor environmental
impact than the oil and the coal.
-System of great saving, both economic and energetic.
-No noises
-The geothermal resources are major that the coal
resources, oil, natural gas and uranium combined.
9. Cons
-Visual impact.
-Thermal pollution.
-It is not possible to transport (as primary energy).
-It produces badly smell.
-It is not available any more than in certain places.
-There are few places where it could build a geothermal
power station.
