To shoot all of our video footage we used a video camera supplied by our college (canon MD235) The camera has various advantages such as it having a ‘zoom’ function, an ‘anti-shake’ function and it was small and easy to carry around with us when getting to the locations. However the disadvantages were that the camera wasn’t a HD cam so resolution wasn’t as good as professional films, the access to the cameras as some times they were all booked out as other classes were using them aswell and finally the fact that only two of us were filming so we could only use one actor. ( This eventually worked out better for us)Digital camera
Panasonic Lumix Digital Stills cameraThis camera had a very good ‘zoom’ on it (5x optical zoom), It was 12 megapixels so the pictures were very clear, Very easy to carry as they are very small so it was again easy to carry to our locations for our ancillary tasks as well as getting our location shots pre-production.The only disadvantage was that the pictures were not as clear as we hoped they would be.
Apple MacTo upload all of our footage we used an Apple Mac computer which helped us as the software on it E.g. Final Cut express were very up to date and made our products have a professional finish to them. We also could use photoshop for our ancillary tasks which we benefited from greatly as I am used to working with it.The disadvantages for the Macs were that I would have preferred to use Final Cut Pro and that we had a few problems when uploading images and footage for our coursework.
