Technology And Technology Today
Technology Today
The effects of technology with society has beneficial impacted the way we live. With technology is providing many advantages, but also it has some
disadvantages it has on children and adults. There is little room for people that wish to live without technology, moreover than living the way they did
in the old days. Technology has its advantages, it's has changed the way people have communicated by email, social media, the way traveling has
improved.
Have you ever heard the saying 'Children are born with a cell phone in their hands?' In today society, children may not be born with technology in
their hands, but they are introduced to it sometimes even before they can even walk. Technology is so advanced than what it used to be, children as
young as babies can use it and learn from it. I am for my child using technology, to help learn and to expand her mind. Everything that children see and
interact with is involved with technology, for example: cellphones, tablets, video games, and many other things.
In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers. This allows the students to learn how to use the computer
appropriately. Learning tools for school is at the student figure tips. It's important for children to learn how to research topics, by using the web search.
Children also need to understand that not everything that they read is 100% accurate. Technology and society: technology "NOT" by Virginia R.
Jones. Studies show that in 2016 it was reported that 41% of 3–4 years old use internet. 45% of 3–4 years old have played video games, 37% of 3–4
years across online content through YouTube. Children that are 3–4 years old spend an average of 8 hours 18 minutes a week online. Also 55% of 3–4
years old have access to a tablet. Children are more involved in the technology now days then they were 15 – 20 years ago. Online technology and very

traveling are also quite common. Many organizations now realize the competitive advantage, which video conferencing offers. Products being
developed are being promptly introduced to the market, issues are resolved more quickly, everyone who is a participant in the decision does not have to
travel just to be in a meeting (Denstadli, Gripsrud, Hjorthol, & Julsrud, 2013). Business communication is vital for businesses to maintain
competitiveness. Videoconferencing eliminates the barriers of business communication and enables employees in different locations to view body
languages, facial expressions and listen to voices. Video conferencing makes business communication vivid and easy, it will make it productive.
Therefore, especially when doing business around the world, it is essential to have a video conference for business communication (Denstadli, Julsrud,
& Hjorthol, 2012). The initial quantifiable and perceived gain of video conferencing was a reduction in travel expenses. Initially, many organizations
paid for travel budget reduction and video conference deployment. Travel savings were a visible advantage of video conferencing, but there are more
qualitative advantages. Other major benefits that video conferencing offers are increased efficiency and productivity, enhanced business opportunities

Cell phones:A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone, and a hand phone) is a device that can make and receive telephone calls over
a radio link while moving around a wide geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing
access to the public telephone network. By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the short range of a single, private base station.
In addition to telephony, modern mobile phones also support a wide variety of other services such as text messaging, MMS, email, Internet access,
short–range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business applications, gaming and photography. Mobile ... Show more content on

Fax Machines:Fax (short for facsimile), sometimes called telecopying or telefax, is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material (both text
and images), normally to a telephone number connected to a printer or other output device. The original document is scanned with a fax machine (or a
telecopier), which processes the contents (text or images) as a single fixed graphic image, converting it into a bitmap, and then transmitting it through
the telephone system. The receiving fax machine reconverts the coded image, printing a paper copy. For many decades before digital technology
became widespread the scanned data was transmitted as analog.
Pagers:A pager is a wireless telecommunications device that receives and displays numeric or text messages, or receives and announces voice
messages. One–way pagers can only receive messages, while response pagers and two–way pagers can also acknowledge, reply to, and originate
messages using an internal transmitter.[1] Pagers operate as part of a paging system which includes one or more fixed transmitters (or in the case of
response pagers and two–way pagers, one or more base stations), as well as a number of pagers carried by mobile users. These systems can range from
a restaurant system with a single low–power transmitter, to a nationwide system with thousands of high–power base stations.

Some other additional benefits of this virtual environment are: * Employee's knowledge can be totally discovered. * Permanent communication
between among areas. * Instant screen compartment. * Geo–location services.
Q3 * What types of communication are integrated within Sametime's digital environment? What type of communication is missing? Does it make a
difference? * Reciprocal – it goes between two or more people changing rolls. * Linguistic and extra–linguistic – People communicate through key
board (chatting) or using some familiar codes. * Private and public – The communication inside the company can be private when it occurs between
two employees or public when it goes to everyone in the organization. (In fact, it is not totally private because the conversation can be followed for the
database system.) * Formal – The messages use a formal code according to the organization policies. * Horizontal and vertical – It can occur in a same
range people or from boss to assistant.
What is missing here is the physical or interpersonal communication. It can make the difference because when people talk they express a lot of
feelings. The main advantage is that employees will not realize if the other one is tired or in another bad situation.

The Benefits Of Long Distance Relationships
Long distance relationships are common in our present day culture because of personal choices. We are connected on a global scale and these
connections are not only economical, they are also romantic. Personally, this facet of living in 2017 has affected the relationship with my boyfriend
and many problems occur when living far away from the person I love. Commonly, the problems caused by distances in communication create turmoil
that transition into our romantic lives. The solution for this concern is based on a technology product that provides individuals a wider range of
options. Macmillan Dictionary defines long–distance relationship as "a romantic relationship between two people who live far apart and so cannot see
each other very often." By saying long–distance relationship, it is not only an obstacle for lovers. Married couples, friends, and parents with their
children might also experience the same situation. Geographically separation can come from a variety of reasons, including college students going to
different school, individuals pursue different career goals, and for immigration purpose. Married couples can be separated due to military service or
deployment. Not many people believe in the durability of a long–distance relationship. In my case, I choose to study abroad for my major while my
boyfriend is currently living in Vietnam. I have to admit that it is not easy to keep a relationship going strong. If it is tough to maintain a healthy

Disadvantages Of Mobile Technology
Mobile technology gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together, as we can connect our loved ones far and
near. Regardless of where one resides, communication and strong community can be possible with the help of mobile technology. When I came to
the United States back in 2012, I was homesick. There was not a lot that I could do to connect with my friends and relatives back home, other than
send them texts or call them. Now, with more advanced technology that I am exposed to, I can video call on Facebook Messenger. I have been
video calling my friends and relatives back home since 2013. Although we are living different lives, with the help of the Facebook Messenger, we
are able to share our experience with one another. I am used to this feature, and I cannot imagine myself losing touch with my friends and relatives
back home, as I learn from their experiences just as I tell them about mine. The reason I have not gone back home since 2012, is because of
Facebook's video calling feature. I did not feel a need to go see my friends and relatives because I was able to see them through video calling. When
I video call, I am usually with my friends. That way I am able to connect my Indian friends with my American friends and form community between
the two. With the help of mobile technology, we are able to build community across a broader area. When some crisis happens, the public is made
aware of it through social media. Due to this awareness, we

The Importance Of A Unified Communication Application
Communication within an organization is very important for keeping people informed, updated and help move the organization forward. Cost of
operations within a company is the top item that companies work to reduce. A unified communication application is a means to help in the reduction of
operating costs.
A unified communications application like Skype has three main functions and a couple additional abilities that can be used in a one to one
interaction or a conference type interaction. Skype has the ability to provide instant messenger, audio and/or video to users and provides a means for
multiple participants. The three features can be used simultaneously or in different combinations. The instant messenger feature can be used for a
quick note to another user or users and the recipient(s) do not need to be at the computer when the message is sent (Figure 1). The time needed to
send an instant messenger message is real time which is much less than a normal email, which reduces time. Skype instant messenger comes in handy
when a user does not want to interrupt a meeting by calling or wasting time going by Alice's office, Bob could send a quick instant messenger note to
Alice to see if they are available for a discussion.
The audio function is similar to a standard phone call with one exception. The normal operation entails retrieving or typing in the phone number of a
person's office, home, mobile or Skype number and pressing the off hook button just like most

Subject: Video Conferencing: Stepping forward with technology
Our company is quickly expanding across Canada, which means travel expenses will continue to increase. The Management group continues to hold
meetings in many different cities across Canada. I believe that it would be a major benefit for us to look at investing in video conferencing software.
Conferencing systems continue to improve with prices decreasing as well as many different software options being available every day.
How Video Conferencing works:
Video conferencing is one of the quickest and easiest ways to hold meetings with colleagues anywhere in the world. All you need to allow the
conferencing software to work is an Internet connection, a computer, a webcam, and a microphone (if not already within the webcam). During your
video conference session you are able to send and receive data, share desktops, hold training sessions, and much more. Instead of having to travel 8
hours to see a colleague in London GB, you are now able to have that same meeting in the comfort of your office. By not having to pay for travel you
are saving yourself time and your company money, which is easy and beneficial for all parties involved.

The continual increase in technologies, equipment, and ease of patient use will parallel the increases of this insured population. Where face–to–face

into their day may take much longer. Telenursing eliminates patient wait and drive times. With a predetermined video conference time, the patient can
be in comfort of their own home discussing their needs with the nurse. There is no need for the patient to arrange transportation, possibly drive in
inclement weather, or drive what could be considered by the patient as a long distance. Telenursing can also eliminate some of the family stress that
may occur due to determining which family member manages this visit instance.

Online Counseling : An Effective Client
Online Counseling
Although the internet is a fairly new and innovative mean for communication between individuals and professionals, this resource may possess many
risks. The possibilities could be the fault of the professional, the client, or simply the way that information is exchanged. Counseling can now be
offered through email, via chat, and through video chat.
Email Counseling
Email counseling gives the client and the professional a chance to converse through the means of the internet. The client will type their problems and
send an email to a professional, who would respond using professional judgment. Email counseling has many qualities because typing out ones issues
may be unconsciously therapeutic to the client, the client may feel as if he or she is being more discrete and feel less stressed about seeking services:
it also gives the client the option to respond when he or she feels comfortable without giving an immediate response (Childress, 200). Chat Counseling
Chat counseling is an intervention used in real time which allows the client and professional to converse through instant messaging. If a client is
seeking immediate responses from a professional then this option may suffice, because it gives the client the choice of remaining anonymous.
Video Conferencing Video conferencing is the closest intervention toface to face consultations. A computer program is used that allows the
professional and the client to view each other in real time through a screen.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing, basically this is the simultaneous real–time transmission of audio and video (voice, moving images) and data such as computer
graphics, graphs, electronic documents between selected users or groups of users.
By using videoconferencing, we see our interlocutor, so we have the impression that we are in one room with the people attending the meeting.
1.2Modes of videoconferencing
Point–to–Point Video Conferencing – allows the transmission of audio and video signals between two locations (people or groups of people gathered
in two places). This is the simplest and cheapest mode as it only uses two terminals and links between them.
Multipoint video conferencing – allows the transmission of audio and video signals between several (more than two) locations. In this mode you will
need to use additional network devices such as video conferencing servers (video conferencing bridges), gateways, gatekeeper, etc. In this mode you
can make another division into:
"Voice–over" mode – one location is the voice of the other station they see at their terminal, while the voice of the terminal sees the person speaking
"Conference mode" – divided monitor includes images from several locations (most often we see images of participants who recently spoke in the
meeting)
"Discussion mode" – unlike the voice–over mode, the person currently speaking is seen by all participants in the meeting.

Regardless of where one resides, communication and strong community can be possible with the help of mobile technology. When I came to the United States back in 2012, I was homesick. There was not a lot that I could do to connect with my friends and relatives back home, other than send them texts or call them. Now, with more advanced technology that I am exposed to, I can video call on Facebook Messenger. I have been video calling my friends and relatives back home since 2013. Although we are living different lives, with the help of the Facebook Messenger, we are able to share our experience with one another. I am used to this feature, and I cannot imagine myself losing touch with my friends and relatives back home, as I learn from their experiences just as I tell them about mine. The reason I have not gone back home since 2012, is because of Facebook's video calling feature. I did not feel a need to go see my friends and relatives because I was able to see them through video calling. When I video call, I am usually with my friends. That way I am able to connect my Indian friends with my American friends and form community between the two. With the help of mobile technology, we are able to build community across a broader area.
