Technology and social media have enormous potential to create social good by raising awareness, funds, and volunteers for important causes on an unprecedented scale. Social media allows people to easily spread information about issues, participate in online fundraising campaigns like the Ice Bucket Challenge, and support charitable causes through social gaming and apps that donate a portion of profits to non-profits. While clicktivism and online activism have limitations, when leveraged effectively they can significantly promote awareness and participation in efforts that make real impacts on important social issues.
