TEACHING QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
                                (TeaQIP)

                           INTRODUCTION

 1. Today the school education system is such that our students are being
subjected to an autocratic way of teaching-learning process where students
have no say or any contributory role in their learning process. Even if a
teacher is repeatedly committing mistakes like speaking too fast, not being
audible enough, not clearing pupil’s doubts, teaching too fast, not using
adequate teaching aids, not coming well prepared to take the class, being too
strict and harsh, or even committing child abuse; students cannot dare to point
out these glaring mistakes of their teachers which hamper their learning
upfront. Thus in the absence of any feedback from the students the teachers
continue to deliver below par teaching day in and day out. On top of that we
now command this poor child to show a sterling performance in the exams.
It’s like throwing a boy into the pool to judge his swimming skills without
    teaching him how to swim!

 2. This contradiction in the teaching – learning process, and muffling of the
students’ voice creates all the mental stress, academic pressure, disinterest and
apathy in children towards their school education. At times the stress and
frustration becomes so unbearable that children are driven to even take the
    extreme step of committing suicide.

 3. In view of the above it is very essential to have a system in place which not
only gives voice to our school children but also involve them in the process of
improving the way they are taught in their class. This urgently needed
intervention is surely going to bring back the excitement of learning in our
children, and also keep the teachers on the path of continuous improvement.
4. TeaQIP is designed to exactly achieve the above mentioned purpose. It’s a
process by which we can on a regular basis diagnose correctly the weaknesses
and strengths of our teachers as perceived by their own pupils. Based on this
diagnosis we can then coach them to improve upon their teaching skills.

   5. TeaQIP is a very powerful tool in the hands of Teachers, Principals and
School Management who want to achieve the highest level of teaching
excellence and care for our children. It is for those education providers who
are eager to make learning an exciting experience for their students. TeaQIP
directly helps the teachers to teach better and students to learn better. It
eliminates the stress out of the students’ learning experience which they suffer
day to day and from exam to exam. It gets professionalism in the classroom
teaching environment and causes a big change in the overall attitude of
teachers towards their pupils and profession. It is for those who are not only
eager but brave enough to adopt this revolutionary concept in order to convert
their educational institutions into true centers of excellence. TeaQIP creates a
win-win situation for all the stake holders – the students, the teachers, the
      parents, and the school management.

   6. TeaQIP has been selected for the final round of Nasscom Social
Innovation Honours award in association with UNICEF. TeaQIP has
been granted legal Patent Rights w.e.f. 18 Nov 2011.
