The Concept of ‘Zakaat’
• Zakat is an important and third pillar of Islam.
The giving of Zakat to the needy ones is among
the five basic pillars of Islam.
• It is not an optional element but a compulsory
binding for the Muslims to give specific amount
of zakat on the wealth received from Almighty
Allah.
• Islam has made it a religious duty of every
wealthy member to respond to those members
who are in need of wealth.
• Zakat is considered as one of the means to purify
one’s wealth and an important element to
remove the curse of greed from their hearts.
• The wealth in Islam is considered as a gift
received from the Allah.
• The Allah who has provided this wealth made
one portion from it dedicated for the health of
poor members of Islamic community.
• The zakat does not infer any privilege on the
person who has provided it rather it’s a
fulfillment of basic Islamic duty.
• The beneficiary who has received zakat must not
feel hurt or inferior as it is duty of wealthy
people to help those who are in need.
