TEACHING
 Teaching is act of transmitting knowledge to
others.
 According to its derivation, the world
‘teaching’ is derived from ‘to teach’ which
means instructions.
Hence, a process in which one individual
teaches or instructs other individual is called
teaching.
Traditional concept
• Act of disseminating
information to learner in
classroom
• Teacher gives information
to students
• This concept has
discarded now.
Modern concept
• Teaching is cause the child
to learn and acquire
desirable knowledge, skills.
• It is a process in which
learner, teacher and
curriculum and other
variables are organized in
systematic way to attain
some pre-determined
objectives.
 The most important objective of teaching is
to facilitate learning. Wherever there is
teaching, there will be learning. Teaching is
incomplete without learning
 Teaching is connected with the work of
teacher or with teaching profession, just as
giving treatment is connected with the work
of doctor or with medical profession.
 Effective teaching involves the use of
appropriate methods and strategies to
engage learners, facilitate their learning, and
help them achieve their learning goals.
 The role of a teacher is to create a positive
and supportive learning environment,
provide guidance and feedback, and help
learners develop the skills and knowledge
they need to succeed.
 Good teaching is essential for the
development of individuals and society as a
whole, as it helps to foster critical thinking,
creativity, and innovation.
DEFINITIONS
 According to H.C Marrison (1943), “
Teaching is an intimate contact between a
more mature personality and a less mature,
one which is designed to further the
education of the latter”

 According to Jackson:- Teaching is a face
