This survey of teachers at Cooper MS in McLean, VA asked about collaboration practices. The results showed that most teachers meet monthly as departments/teams. Over half received training in collaboration/co-teaching. Most teachers currently collaborate and share data with departments. Time, common planning periods, and willingness to work together help collaboration while demands and meetings hinder it. Most teachers believe collaboration positively impacts student achievement through more ideas, viewpoints, and adapting to student needs. Most also felt creating a collaborative culture would establish innovative teaching methods.
