1. Task 9- Formal Proposal
Title: I have decided to call my magazine ‘Riot’ because it fits in with the genre of Rock and creates a strong theme of
Rock for the audience and they would know straight away from the title that the magazine is about Rock
music/artists.
Choice of Genre: I have chosen to create a Rock magazine because they are the easiest to create and with enough
research they are easy to understand and make one that fits in with all other Rock magazines.
Target Audience: Name-Jessica Cooper. Age-17. Gender-Female. Ethnicity-White British. Lifestyle-Part Time job and
someone who regularly socialises.
Initial Ideas about front page: Large masthead, Main image will be a solo artist, main coverline will be saying about an
interview with the main image artist, other coverlines will promote other articles like competitions, top charts and
latest fashion trends.
Initial ideas about contents page: Neat layout so its clear to read, an editorial at the top to introduce myself as it’s the
first issue, small images of artists featured within magazine.
Initial ideas about double page spread: Large main image of artist, large text at top for heading and then a smaller
subheading and text in smaller writing with a drop cap.
Initial ideas about photographs: Main image of solo artist with a blank background, my contents page will have
images of other artists/bands featured in the magazine and my double page spread will have an image of the solo
artist again.
