The document compares the learning from a preliminary project to a product project. For the front cover, the author learned that simplicity is more effective. Photoshop skills like removing red eye and improving image quality were better for the product cover. Research skills improved for the product with more magazine comparisons and research into publishers. The double page spread used in the product required new InDesign skills like placing articles, which provided more experience with the software. Overall, more time, effort, and research went into the product project, improving skills with Photoshop, InDesign, research, and layout.
3. For my front covers I learnt that keeping
it simple is more affective – ‘less is more’
this is what I learnt from the types of
magazines I researched
I also learnt better editing skills on
Photoshop on my product cover than I
did on the Preliminary cover.
For example getting rid of the red eye
and the quality of my picture
I also kept more to a sophisticated
theme- using white and black texts-
making it look more professional
6. The double page spread was something we never
did on the Preliminary task, it was completely new
However from past experience on InDesign from
making contents pages, making a double page
spread wasn't as hard
I gained knowledge on how to use double page
spread in InDesign
I learnt how to add my written up interview and I
learnt how to use place more effectively
I gained more experience on InDesign because of
the double page spread.
7. RESEARCH SKILLS
I have definitely gained more research skills for my
Product project than my preliminary task
I looked more into different magazines
More comparisons
Researched about different publishers
I looked at what other R&B/Hip-Hop magazines
consist of and developed my own ideas from there
More time and effort and research was put in into my
Product than my Preliminary
8. ADOBE PHOTOSHOP AND
INDESIGN
I have gained more skills on Photoshop and InDesign
which I never new it had when I was using it
For example; different techniques on cutting out,
effects on images, lightness and contrasts,
Boxes and shapes, aligning them precisely with
InDesign,
Using colour and stroke
All this helped me to become more confident on using
these tools and became faster at it than I was when I
used these software's the first time for my preliminary
task.
