3. INTRODUCTION.
Disaster management is fundamentally
disaster risk management. Sum total of all
activities, programs and measures which
can be taken up before, during and after a
disaster with the purpose to avoid a
disaster, reduce its impact or recover from
its losses is called Disaster Management.

There are three stages of the disaster risk
management which are collectively called
Disaster Management Cycle. Broadly, there
are six phases in Disaster Management Cycle
viz. Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness,
Response, Recovery and Reconstruction.

8. PREPAREDNESS
The intention of Disaster preparedness is to
prevent or minimize the losses and damage
in case of a disaster. This would include the
preparedness of all civic bodies such as civil
administration, fire-brigade, hospitals,
police etc.
9. PREVENTION AND MITIGATION
Disaster prevention and mitigation refers to the
activities which are undertaken to prevent or
mitigate the adverse effects of a disaster in short
and long term.
On the one hand they include political, legal,
administrative and infrastructural measures;
while on the other hand it includes educating
vulnerable communities influencing their lifestyle
and behaviour in order to reduce their disaster
risk.

works to uphold children’s rights, survival, development and
protection by intervening in health, education, water, sanitation,
hygiene and protection.
World Food Program (WFP)
the principle supplier of relief food aid.
World Health Organization (WHO)
Provide pubic health leadership, for heath training course.
16. Medicines sans Frontieres
provides medical services in emergency situations. It recruits
some physical therapists and other health professionals as well as
physicians.
Health volunteers overseas
a common commitment to improving global health through
education.
International Rescue committee
offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees
forced to flee from war or disaster and provides emergency
response by experienced personnel for short-term assignments.

Constituted of Battalion from the B.S.F, CRPF, CISF and ITBP.

Fund for the purpose of mitigation.
3. National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM)
For human development resource development, capacity building,
training etc.
4. International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR)
Increasing investments for building disaster-resilient cities, schools
and hospitals, and strengthening the international system
