Outstanding Universal Value This brilliant architecture is located in India and it was built as a mausoleum for Shah Jahan So, it shows his power from beyond the tomb. It is a heritage of masonry craftsmanship.
It is built from white marble and it has a decorative stone work known as pietra dura. The main part of the building has a square shape and a round arch in its façade. Above this is the dome . .
Four stones stand at each corner which are called obelisks. Giving a historical and ecological perspective is the landscape and the pool of water. This impressive beautiful building reminds me of the splendour of India
Twenty thousand people worked in this construction for 22 years. This architecture combines the Indu tradition with Persian-Muslim. The materials were brought from 300 Km away by elephants. The precious stones were brought from Baghdad, China, Afghanistan, Tibet, Egypt, Persia, Yemen, Russia y Ceylon to decorate the inside and outside the tomb.
However, the economic cost was so big that it made the emperor lose the throne. The fact is, it is considered the most important and awesome building in India.
