list down 3 table etiquette that
you practice at home within your
families. Thereafter, you are
going to “act-it-out” in front of
the class and the rest of the
group will guess what your action
means.
“I Can Sing It!”
This group shall listen
to a nursery song
about table manners.
They will choose one
line from the song and
sing it in the class.
Then, answer the guide
questions that follow.
The use of cutlery was Western
influence to the region. For the
Philippines, Spain introduced the
whole set of forks, knives, and
spoons. The use of spoon instead of
knife is for practical utility of eating
the indigenous food which are
often eaten with rice.

What is table manners and etiquette?
Table etiquette refers to
rules of acceptable conduct
while eating.
Table manners refer to the
way you behave when you
are eating a meal at a table. It
may also include the
appropriate use of utensils.
BASIC TABLE ETIQUETTE
Chew with your mouth closed.
Keep your smartphone off the table
and set to silent or vibrate.
Hold utensils correctly. Don’t
use your fork or spoon like a
shovel or stab your food.
First Aid for Choking on Food
BASIC TABLE ETIQUETTE
Wash up and come to the table clean. Don’t
groom or attend to hygiene at the table.
Remember to use your napkin.
Avoid slouching and don’t place your
elbows on the table while eating

Pace yourself with fellow diners. Cut only one
piece of food at a time.
Instead of reaching across the table
for something, ask for it to be
passed to you.
Bring your best self to the meal. Take
part in the dinner conversation.
Learning good
manners is
something he/she will
practice over the
course of time, and
so make sure to
teach the basic skills
and let him/her
improve on them.

table and elsewhere
will certainly make
your child become
confident in handling
social situations
when he/she gets
older.
