This compilation of fairy tales is the result of youth exchange that took place in the little paradise that is Curaçao. Thirty two young people from very different countries met for nine days to learn deeper and sensibilise about gender equality. This topic is
trendy in all our societies, but in our generation we still have big gaps between different genders. So it is necessary that youth works for ending this problem. This structural problem is reflected in small details in our daily life. Even though we come
from very different backgrounds we have found similarities in the essence of this situation, the myths and legends that are reflection of our different identyties are full of the stereotipes that feed the inequality. That is why we have been working in a
new perspective of our fairy tales in order to make them more concious and more focused towards an inclussive education.
All our work is shown here and it has been illustrated with the drawings of the children from the FELIS foundation. FELIS is a wonderful space where Gerda Van Petersen has been working very hard to be able to give those children with the difficult childhood some skills and most off all love to grow in this world.
We want to thank organizations that have made posible this learning. Erasmus, Stichting FELIS, InoChange, FIFEDE, KIEC European Club, Gerda Van Petersen, Fokje Scgipper and our leaders and participants. It has been very enrichening and we
are coming back to our countries with a new perspective about equality, learning and sharing.
The book was created in frame of youth exchange "Stand together" with support from Erasmus+ program.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

3. BILL, the ill seal
While I was taking a bath,
I suddenly shouted “Aaah!”
I saw in the water a seal!
It looked like it was ill.
“Oh seal my dear,
Why are you here?”
“A boat harmed me, that’s why I look ill.
By the way, my name is Bill.”
“That needs to stop!!
Thousands of seals die all over the world.
Bill, I will take you to the vet.
I swear, you won’t see a single seal
dead!!”

4. There ‘s a turtle in my bedroom
And I am really confused.
She tries to find some water
Or something else like food.
There’s a turtle in my bedroom
And I am really confused.
She throws away my plastic bag
And she is angry as hell.
There’s a turtle in my bedroom
And she makes my room a mess.
She screams when she sees my plastic staff.
When I asked her why, she told me this:
There are humans in my sea
And they are fishing my friends for food.
They throw away their rubbish in the sea
And they spill their petrol all over our homes.
There’s a turtle in my bedroom
And I am not confused any more.
“I will save your home” I told her
“ I will do whatever I can do,
I will be next to you for ever
To save our home and our place”.

5. A Dolphin in my Pool
There’s a dolphin in my pool
And I don’t know what to do.
She plays with all of my balls
And she eats fish too.
I asked her what her problem was
And why she was staying there.
She told me:
“My house is destroyed
And I don’t have a place to stay.
Fishermen caught me in their nets.
I was scared.
They understood that and they let me go.”
Then I understood the story
of the little dolphin.

6. A dolphin in the zoo
There’s a sick dolphin in the city zoo,
And I don’t know what to do.
It can’t swim and it only shouts and cries
And hits people in the zoo.
There’s a sick dolphin in the city zoo
And I don’t know what to do.
The people in the zoo
Don’t want it to stay
So they kick the little dolphin
In the sea, away.
So I asked the little dolphin why it acts so badly,
And it told me something
That it will always be in my heart.
-In my sea there are some humans
Without good in their hearts.
They throw chemicals and nets in my sea.
They throw rubbish and my mommy died.
There are some humans in my sea
And I don’t know what to do
Oh my lovely dolphin.
Now I know what to do.
I’ll fight and I’ll make the seas
A better place for you!
Μαρία Νικολαίδου (ΣΤ2)
7. A Turtle in my Pool
There’s a turtle in my pool
And I don’t know what to do.
She keeps swimming in it
and she seems kinda blue.
She told me there are fishermen
in her sea
and she doesn’t know what to do.
She tries to avoid the nets,
so that one doesn’t die too.
Oh turtle in my pool,
now I know what to do.
I’m going to tell the police
So that they know what to do.
Θανάσης Γκομόζιας

8. A squirrel in my bedroom
There’s a squirrel in my bedroom
And he’s so sad that it can’t run into my room.
Everyday it gets sadder and sadder
And I don’t know what to do.
-Oh little squirrel what’s happening to you?
-I don’t want to speak to anyone and especially to
you.
-Oh come on baby squirrel talk to me please.
You are getting worse and worse and I’m crying for
you.
-Ok darling girl, I will talk to you.
I don’t want you to be sad too.
Listen carefully pretty little girl.
Please understand me , I’m not doing well.
There are people in my forest
And I don’t know what to do.
They are destroying my wood and my house, too.
I didn’t know where to stay
So I had to go away
-Ok baby squirrel, your story was so sad.
I will be crying for a day or even for a month
I’ll share your story , I promise
For people to understand.

9. A Turtle in my Pool
Τhere is a turtle careta careta in my pool
and I don’t know what to do.
She plays with my sea ball and she bites
my slippers.
She likes eating ice cream and she uses
my sun cream
She loves eating, but she eats my food
and she sleeps in my bedroom.
I don’t want her to stay here. I told her to
leave
and she said this
My family left me here and they told me:
“ Dear, you must stay here.
We afraid we won’t see you again but in
the end we will protect you.”
Oh, little playful turtle I promise in the
moon
that I will protect you!

there was a wolf in my room
and I was scared to sleep alone.
It ate all my stuff
and I couldn’t do anything about it.
It was screaming all night
from the sun to the moon.
I wondered why it was there
and I wanted to know the truth.
This is what he said:
“There are killers in my home
and they want to kill me too.
I survived the threat and
I need to stay with you…”

11. A Turtle in my Room
There’s a little turtle in my room
and I don’t know what to do.
She is scared and I asked her
Why are you here?
I was swimming with my mom,
and suddenly I stuck in a net with other fish.
My mom ate a plastic bag and she died.
Someone took me to a weird place.
There I saw fish too
but when I tried to talk to them,
They didn’t answer me.
I fell in a bag and that’s how I arrived here.

12. My little polar bear
There’s a little polar bear in my swimming
pool and
I don’t know what to do.
She plays with all my balls and
she keeps borrowing my dresses.
She destroys all my bags and
she keeps shouting “Aaaa…”.
She throws away my jewleries and
she eats my ice cream.
She mixes up my clothes in my cupboard
but I love her so much and
I don’t want her to leave my home.
