Donna and her husband John go to the beach every Saturday in the summer. Today is no exception.
Donna packs a picnic lunch. She packs the beach umbrella and sun lotion.
She cannot find their beach towels. Donna always loses things. The towels are not in the laundry
basket or dryer. They are not in the closet, either. She finally looks in her beach bag. She sees the
towels folded in the bottom. Of course, the beach towels are exactly where they should be.
Donna puts on her swimsuit and floppy sun hat. She is almost ready. She just needs her sunglasses.
She thinks they are on the table by the door. Or maybe they are in the bathroom. They could also be
in her purse. Donna sighs.
John puts the picnic basket, umbrella, and beach bag in the car. He checks his fishing poles and
equipment. He places them in the car beside the picnic basket. Daisy, their dog, jumps in the
backseat. She loves the beach! John is ready to leave. Where is Donna? She knows he likes to arrive at
the beach before the crowds. Biscuit
John groans and shakes his head. Donna is always late!
Donna searches for her sunglasses. She cannot find them, and she knows John is waiting. He hates
when she is late! She grabs her purse and locks the door.
"You are late," John says as Donna gets in the car. Donna tells John that she could not find her
sunglasses.
John looks at her and laughs! He flips down the sun visor so Donna can see herself in the mirror.
Donna looks in the mirror and laughs too. Her sunglasses are on top of her head. They were there the
whole time!
"It is always in the last place that you look," Donna giggles!

Reading 1: On the beach
Have you ever had the desire to wander
the world and see what was out there? While
some people prefer to stay in the comfort of
their own home, others have been bitten by
the travel bug and can't wait to explore
the world. Exotic places call them. "Come visit
me and I will show you my mysteries," they say.
Every year millions of people pack
their suitcases or put on backpacks and flock to
visit the seven continents of the world. They wander through the castles and museums
of Europe, and the cities and natural wonders of North and South America. Some visit
the vast exotic cultures of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The great outback of
Australia is a wonderland for those who go there. And a few lucky people even make
to the most mysterious continent on the earth- Antarctica.
Why do people want to explore the world? It gives them a better perspective about
the earth and the people living on it. It opens their minds, it gives them a feeling of
accomplishment, and it makes them feel alive. So save some money, get your passport
ready, and see the world. It will change your life forever.

Reading 2: Travel bug
Can you keep an eye on my bag?
Tom is waiting in the lobby to get on the train. But suddenly nature is calling, and he has to ask his
friend who is sitting right next to him for help…
Tom: Can you do me a favor? – Can you help me ?
Jamie: Sure. What is it?
Tom: Can you keep an eye on my bag, please? Nature’s calling.
Jamie: Sure. Will you be long?
Tom: No, I just want to use the bathroom.
Jamie: Go ahead. It’ll be safe with me.

  • 7. Donna and her husband John go to the beach every Saturday in the summer. Today is no exception. Donna packs a picnic lunch. She packs the beach umbrella and sun lotion. She cannot find their beach towels. Donna always loses things. The towels are not in the laundry basket or dryer. They are not in the closet, either. She finally looks in her beach bag. She sees the towels folded in the bottom. Of course, the beach towels are exactly where they should be. Donna puts on her swimsuit and floppy sun hat. She is almost ready. She just needs her sunglasses. She thinks they are on the table by the door. Or maybe they are in the bathroom. They could also be in her purse. Donna sighs. John puts the picnic basket, umbrella, and beach bag in the car. He checks his fishing poles and equipment. He places them in the car beside the picnic basket. Daisy, their dog, jumps in the backseat. She loves the beach! John is ready to leave. Where is Donna? She knows he likes to arrive at the beach before the crowds. Biscuit John groans and shakes his head. Donna is always late! Donna searches for her sunglasses. She cannot find them, and she knows John is waiting. He hates when she is late! She grabs her purse and locks the door. "You are late," John says as Donna gets in the car. Donna tells John that she could not find her sunglasses. John looks at her and laughs! He flips down the sun visor so Donna can see herself in the mirror. Donna looks in the mirror and laughs too. Her sunglasses are on top of her head. They were there the whole time! "It is always in the last place that you look," Donna giggles! 3 Reading 7 Reading 1: On the beach
  • 8. Have you ever had the desire to wander the world and see what was out there? While some people prefer to stay in the comfort of their own home, others have been bitten by the travel bug and can't wait to explore the world. Exotic places call them. "Come visit me and I will show you my mysteries," they say. Every year millions of people pack their suitcases or put on backpacks and flock to visit the seven continents of the world. They wander through the castles and museums of Europe, and the cities and natural wonders of North and South America. Some visit the vast exotic cultures of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The great outback of Australia is a wonderland for those who go there. And a few lucky people even make to the most mysterious continent on the earth- Antarctica. Why do people want to explore the world? It gives them a better perspective about the earth and the people living on it. It opens their minds, it gives them a feeling of accomplishment, and it makes them feel alive. So save some money, get your passport ready, and see the world. It will change your life forever. 3 Reading 8 Reading 2: Travel bug
