Lily and her friends went to their local pond to play but found it filled with trash. Determined to clean it up, they worked each day removing more and more garbage until the grass at the bottom was visible again. Recycling bins were added to encourage responsible waste disposal. Through their efforts, Lily and her friends restored the pond so that everyone, including the fish, could enjoy it once more.

Green Fins was a small, slow fish who was bullied by her classmates. When a shark appeared threatening the school of fish, Green Fins bravely distracted the shark to allow her friends to escape, even though she was made fun of for being slow. The next day, the hare proposed a new kind of race using buggies that would be fair for both of them. The tortoise slowly made his way to the beach to participate in the new race, and this time he may have a chance to beat the hare.

Underprepared Students, Underprepared Institutions: Transformation 360º
Academy for College Excellence (ACE) serves under-prepared college students. Through a full-time semester-long accelerated program, ACE helps students learn and transform themselves from the inside out as they rethink their relationship to learning and to college. But the ACE program works because it transforms institutions as well as students. It is classroom-based, and much of what students in other programs get through outside counseling, ACE students get in the classroom. Over the last 8 years, ACE has demonstrated that it is both sustainable and scalable, today serving over 750 students in seven community colleges across three states. This talk focuses on ACE's program design, the transformations it requires, and how two-year and four-year institutions alike can adapt its approach to their own mission and students.

In response, people began planting new trees to help reforest the area and restore the habitat for the birds. Over time, the newly planted trees grew fully and the forest returned to its normal state, allowing the birds to return and live in the trees once more.

The Recycling Bin Tragedy tells the story of a city where people would throw recyclable items like soda cans and water bottles into the garbage bin instead of the recycling bin. One day, strong winds knocked over the garbage bin, spilling its contents on the ground. When a boy saw the mess, he picked everything up and put it in the empty recycling bin. This inspired others to also use the recycling bin, helping to solve the city's recycling problems thanks to that one boy.

The next day, his friend helps him work on the solar panel despite being angry, to preserve their friendship. The man finishes building the panel on his own to avoid further angering his friend.
