This is the part 1 of the Azure SQL Database series. Azure SQL Database is a PaaS offering from Microsoft for Database as a service in Azure. This session is concepts heavy where I discuss various database options available from Azure. I discuss how Azure SQL can be created to rapidly work on databases. How the Azure SQL databases are resilient as soon as they are created. Further, I go over important concepts like Database Tiers which are important to gauge performance and pricing of the databases. In this session I also go over the complex concept of DTUs which are the units of performance in SQL Azure. As usual a Demo is provided at the end to bring it all together.

By default Azure does not provide any network traffic isolation between the subnets in VNETs. This creates a unique challenge for IT network and security professionals who have multiple subnets in Azure and would like to provide segmentation within the VNETS; an architecture that is common in on premise networks, for both physical and virtual infrastructures, for mitigating various security concerns. Azure NSGs (Network Security Groups) provides solutions for such virtual network segmentations without using any additional virtual appliances.
You will learn :
1.Azure VM traffic isolation
2.Azure VNET traffic isolation
3.Azure network segmentation through traffic isolation
4.Isolated network security zones
Part 01: Azure Virtual Networks – An OverviewNeeraj Kumar
A virtual network in Azure is similar to the network that we have in our on-premises environment, helping us connect different resources. The azure network helps us connect virtual machines (VMs), create a connected system as a part of a FARMs so that they can communicate with each other, and talk to the on-premises systems as well in special connected scenarios.
This is the Part 1 of the Azure Virtual Networking Servies and is the part of the AZ-100 certification examination, and it provides an overview of the vNet, and the components of the virtual network that an Azure Administrator has to deal with on a daily basis.

Stay productive while slicing up the monolith Markus Eisele
DevNexus 2017
Microservices-based architectures are en-vogue. The last couple of
years we have learned how the thought-leaders implement them, and
every other week we have heard about how containers and
Platform-as-a-Service offerings make them ultimately happen.
The problem is that the developers are almost forgotten and left alone
with provisioning and continuous delivery systems, containers and
resource schedulers, and frameworks and patterns to help slice
existing monoliths. How can we get back in control and efficiently
develop them without having to provision complete production-like
environments locally, by hand?
All the new buzzwords, frameworks, and hyped tools have made us forget
ourselves—Java developers–and what it means to be productive and have
fun building systems. The problem that we set out to solve is: how can
we run real-world Microservices-based systems on our local development
machines, managing provisioning, and orchestration of potentially
hundreds of services directly from a single command line tool, without
sacrificing productivity enablers like hot code reloading and instant
turnaround time?
During this talk, you’ll experience first-hand how much fun it can be
to develop large-scale Microservices-based systems. You will learn a
lot about what it takes to fail fast and recover and truly understand
the power of a fully integrated Microservices development environment.
The Internet of Things (IoT), is defined as the network of physical objects—devices, vehicles, buildings and other items—embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity that enables these objects to collect and exchange data.
An operating system is a program that acts as an interface between the user and the computer hardware and controls the execution of all kinds of programs.
Luckily, there’s plenty of good quality coding training available here on the Internet. What better place to learn web development than the web itself?
Internet is a global communication system that links together thousands of individual networks.
It allows exchange of information between two or more computers on a network.
System Center Service Manager is a software product by Microsoft to allow organizations to manage incidents and problems. Microsoft states that the product is compliant with industry best practices such as the Microsoft Operations Framework and in the Information Technology Infrastructure Library.

The chapter classifies existing QoS/QoE mapping models from practical perspectives, also enumerates few IP-oriented QoE/QoS mapping models used for video services. Further discusses approaches that could be used to add QoE capability to networks and services.
Microsoft System Center is a set of server management products which are aimed at helping corporate or enterprise IT administrators to manage their systems, whether on-premises, in the cloud, or across platforms.
Quality of experience (QoE) is the degree of delight or annoyance of the user of an application or service. It results from the fulfillment of his or her expectations with respect to the utility/enjoyment of the application or service in the light of the user’s personality and current state.
QoS is the measurable end-to-end performance properties of a network service, which can be guaranteed in advance by a service level agreement (SLA) between a user and a service provider, so as to satisfy specific customer application requirements.
A technology that enables the forming of logically isolated virtual
networks over shared physical networks so that heterogeneous collections of multiple virtual networks can simultaneously coexist over the shared physical networks.
Explain the elements of the NFV infrastructure and their interrelationships.
Understand key design issues related to virtualized network functions.
Explain the purpose of and operation of NFV management and orchestration.
Present an overview of important NFV use cases.
The development process adopted for a project will depend on the project's aims and goals.
The models specify the various stages of the process and the order in which they are carried out.
The way testing is organized must fit the development life cycle or it will fail to deliver its benefit.
In this chapter, we will introduce you to the
fundamentals of testing:
why testing is needed;
its limitations, objectives, and purpose;
the principles behind testing;
the process that testers follow;
and some of the psychological factors that testers must consider in their work.
Verification is the process of checking that a software achieves its goal without any bugs.
Validation is a dynamic mechanism of Software testing and validates the actual product.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Welcome to TechSoup New Member Orientation and Q&A (May 2024).pdfTechSoup

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
