Sukhsharan Kaur took a learning preferences survey and found that she prefers working in groups over working alone. She chose a learning pathway focused on mobile technologies to improve her skills using her iPod and iPad for education. Throughout the course, she learned how to use apps like Evernote for note-taking. Microblogs interested her the most as learning tools because they allow her to find helpful information from others' perspectives. Going forward, she plans to continue using her iPad for its organizational benefits in school and work, while also leveraging microblogs to gain different opinions.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
2. Learning Preference:
• At the beginning of ITEC 299, we were instructed to take a learning
preference survey. After answering a handful of questions I
received the following scores: Reflective (3), Sensing (5), Visual
(1), and Sequential (3). My scores showed that I’m fairly well
balanced on most of these however my results for the Sensing vs.
Intuitive portion of the survey, where I scored a 5, is the only part
where I scored moderate. Throughout the semester, I’ve put a lot
of these learning preferences to use and now that the end of the
semester is creeping up I can accurately judge my results. My
thinking has changed about my learning preferences slightly. I’ve
realized that I prefer working in a group rather than trying to tackle
problems on my own because it helps me retain information easier.
I find learning preferences pretty accurate and helpful! Knowing my
learning preferences doesn’t necessarily make a difference in my
personal learning success but it does give me a good idea of what
I’m doing.
3. Learning Pathway
• The learning pathway that I chose was Learning Warrior because I
wanted to become more familiar with the technology that I use on
a daily basis, hoping that it would improve my performance in
school. I believe that I was quite successful in getting a deeper
knowledge of mobile technologies. I’ve now started using my iPod
as more of a tool that aids me in my education, instead of just a
music player and camera. It has taken place of flashcards, records
my lectures, and allows me to jot down notes whenever. I did not
change my learning pathway throughout the semester because I
didn’t feel the need to but now looking back on my experience, I
feel like I was also successful in getting a broader knowledge of
mobile technologies (Learning Sage). I have downloaded an app on
my iPad specifically for note taking and use it instead of my
notebooks. It’s easier to transfer to my computer and my attention
span lasts longer while typing compared to writing!
4. Activity Contribution
• Out of all the activities that I completed, I found a handful that both
contributed and did not contribute to my learning pathway. Specific
activities that I found helpful would have to be the quizzes at the
beginning of each quest. The Screencast fulfilled both my visual
(Powerpoints) and audio needs. They were extremely helpful when
it came to retaining information for the quizzes and very rarely did I
have to refer to them. My second favorite activity was the forum
activity. I really enjoyed how it allowed me to share my questions
and concerns and have people reply with either answers or their
opinions. I think it was a great way to get all the students to
interact and communicate with others. Lastly, the predict, use, and
evaluate activity was probably my least favorite activity (and one
that didn’t contribute to my learning pathway) because it was time
consuming and a lot more work. However, it was helpful in the
sense that it gave me a better insight of the different ways to use
mobile technology to learn.
5. Mobile Technologies #1
• Throughout this course, I’ve primarily learned how to use
the technology I own as aids in my education. The
Technology Quest:iPods and mp3 did wonders when it
came to trying to find ways to make my iPod school
friendly. Primarily, I used it for email, taking pictures,
checking my social networking sites, and most importantly
playing games during class! After completing the activities
for this quest, I came across apps that would let me learn
new languages, make flashcards for my classes, and record
my lectures. The main thing I liked about this quest was
that it really tied in with my learning pathway. The
flashcards are my favorite because it allows me to visually
see the information and I can learn it on my own before
talking about it with others.
6. Mobile Technologies #2
• Along with that, the Technology Quest: iPads and
Tablets taught me ways to use my iPad while I’m in
class. Just like the iPod, I only use the iPad for
entertainment purposes. Now, I am able to access files
from iLearn, such as Word documents, PDF’s, etc.
There are many free notetaking applications that do a
great job at organizing subjects and make taking notes
a little more enjoyable. The specific app that I use is
called Evernote. It has made notetaking easy and I can
transfer it over to my computer, email them to my
classmates, etc without the hassle of re-writing or re-
typing.
7. Mobile Technologies #3
• Also, the Technology Quest: Social bookmarking has
worked best for learning with others. They have
helped me broaden my understanding of how social
networking works as a tool for connecting with others.
For example, Tumblr and Twitter both allow me to
share my opinions on specific topics that I find
intriguing but also allow me to read everyone else’s
perspective. Before I took this class, I only used Twitter
to follow celebrities. Now, I can look up trending topics
on important events going on around the world. It also
allows me to search for all tweets that contain a
specific hash tag that I’m looking for.
8. Synthesis
Throughout this class, I found microblogs to be the most interesting
technology because I think it helped my learning the most. They
interested me the most as learning tools for a handful of reasons.
Microblogs are so helpful because they allow me to find helpful
information. I will carry this probably though my schooling and working
career. Since I own an iPod and iPad, I found the difference in capabilites
between ipods and ipads very surprising. Like I’ve mentioned earlier, my
main goal for the class was to become more educated on these two pieces
of technology. I always thought that iPads and iPods were similar and had
the exact same functions, one just bigger than the other. Little did I know,
they were meant for two separate reasons.
Microblogs, iPods, and iPads are probably the three technologies
that I prefer the most. First of all, they all provide me with a visual aid. For
me, that is very important because I find it a lot easier for me to retain
information. Secondly, they make my work load so much easier. Being
able to use them for multiple things comes in handy when I’m trying to
juggle all my classes. It’s easy, affordable and not time consuming!
9. Looking Ahead
• I will take bits and pieces of every mobile learning strategy with me after this class!
They are all school/work friendly since they contain information about a wide
range of things. For example, I can see myself using microblogs in the future since
they give me so many opinions from other people. This could be helpful if I’m
looking to see people’s interest in certain things and it allows me to base my
decision off of their judgments. Secondly, it could make my job a lot easier
because I have the world as potential customers. Their opinions will be useful to
me.
• I will most definitely use my iPod/iPad in my future classes. They are simple
to use and user friendly. Recording lectures, making flashcards, taking down notes
are all examples of ways I can use them! They can also be used in the working
world in similar ways. Perhaps I have to present certain information, I can use my
iPad to help me make an outline of my presentation.
• I will continue using my iPad in future classes because of the how useful
they are. As I mentioned earlier, they help me stay organized and that is extremely
helpful for both work and school. I probably will try to stay away from my iPod
however, because I still tend to get distracted while using it!
