Bin Wu explored different mobile learning technologies in his class, including mp3 players, iPads, and microblogs. He found that mp3 players and iPads were the most effective for his learning preferences as a visual, active, and sensing learner. Specifically, using his mp3 player to record and replay lectures helped him learn and remember information better. While he gained a better understanding of iPads by exploring them in a class activity, microblogs were not as useful due to his learning styles. Going forward, Wu plans to continue using mp3 players and iPads for their educational benefits but will avoid microblogs, which he found too complicated.

1. Bin Wu
• At the beginning of class my learning preference was sage.
My scores when I began my leaning style were Act-5, Sen-7,
Vis- 5 and Glo-3. This meant that I enjoy learning things by
using my hands. I also I enjoy learning with facts, learn
visually with pictures or videos and enjoy solving questions
in my head. This class has been extremely interesting
because I have learned a lot of things I would not have if I
didn’t take this class. After taking this class though, I
believe my learning preference of sage hasn’t changed or
my techniques in learning preferences changed. However,
knowing about my learning preferences has geared me
toward actually understanding the meaning behind my use
of these techniques which has been successful.

2. • As I said earlier, my learning pathway since the beginning of
class is of the learning Sage. My primary goal was to obtain
new knowledge into more technologies. I believe my
primary goal for this class has been successful because I
definitely have learned new technologies. In the concept of
mobile technologies associated with learning sage, I believe
I have learned just enough to satisfy my previous
unanswered questions. Some mobile questions that I
previously had were surrounded around the difference of
using the iPad. Due to me personally having an iPhone, I
had wanted to understand what the difference was
between iPads and iPhones. I believe I have not changed
my learning pathway, because there are always more things
to learn and more technologies that evolve constantly.

3. • The activities that contributed to my learning pathway that were more
geared toward mobile technologies were the iPods and mp3 quest and
iPads and tablets quest. These two quests gave me a deeper and broader
understanding of mobile technology. It showcased how these mobile
machines could be used, not only for learning but for everyday use. It
highlighted the benefits of owning such machines and the evolution
involved that each of these technologies have gone through. The specific
activities that helped in getting the deeper and broader understanding
were when we had to come up with questions for each quest. Learning
the subject matter was interesting, but having to create questions and
responding to other peoples questions allowed for the understanding of
the subject matter to increase. The activity that worked best for learning
with others to use mobile technologies occurred when we had to answer
and help others answer their questions by submitting links to websites
and asking questions to others about how it affected learning.

4. • The first mobile technology I explored for
learning was the mp3 and iPod quest. As a visual
and action based learner and an owner of
multiple mp3 machines, I was able to manually
practice using my machines while following along
in the quest. Such activities as recording lectures
during class, to listening to music or recorded
lectures while taking public transportation
assisted in my learning of these devices. It gave
me a better appreciation of these mobile learning
techniques.

5. • The second mobile technology that I explored
was the iPad and tablet quest. I had
purchased an iPad not too long prior to taking
this class, so it was definitely intriguing to
learn what I could do with such a machine. As
a sensing learner, I appreciate it when thing
are placed in front of me where I can solve
them. Having the iPad in front of me
definitely increased my appreciation of the
things that I could do with it.

6. • The third mobile technology of micro blogs
was not as effective when I attempted to
explore how it could have increased my
learning. As active and visual learner, I was
not able to envelop myself into using blogs. I
was not able to pull time away from my other
studies to justify myself using micro blogs.
Even though I think it is very useful for certain
people, I believe my lack of use is a reflection
of my learning styles.

7. • The mobile technology that interested me the most was
the iPad/tablet. These are machines that bridge everything
between cell phones and laptops. It has the capability to
be portable making it extremely mobile and easy to use. I
personally own two iPads and have learned a lot about
them by going through the quest. The mobile technology
that surprised me the most was also the iPad/tablet. I
actually learned a lot about these machines as I went
through the quest. The mobile technology that I think
won’t work as a learning tool is micro blogs. I am not
biased, but because I don’t use it, I think it is ineffective as
a learning tool. The mobile device that I would like to
explore in greater detail is tablets, because of their many
functions that I haven’t even used yet.

8. • The mobile technology that worked best was the
mp3 player, not specifically the iPod, but mp3’s in
general. I used it all through this semester with
great results. I was able to record lectures and
listen to them throughout this school year and
even previous years. In regards to my learning
preference, it allowed me to use my sensing and
global more. It allowed me to put everything into
a big picture. Listening to lectures again allows
me to remember more things, and even learn
things that I might have missed or passed over
during class.

9. • The mobile learning strategy that I would
continue to use even after this class would
definitely be iPods/mp3 and iPad/tablet. These
two work hand in hand when learning is involved.
Even out in the work field, recordings of work
related literature can be done with mp3 formats.
The tablet uses are self explanatory because it
could be used to get on the internet, bring up
tables and slides, record pictures and even be
used to talk to others on the other side of earth.

10. • The mobile technology that I will continue to use solely for
learning is iPod/mp3. This will be used solely for recording
lectures and listening to them again for references. They
could also be used in a non school environment for
listening to music or even for recording my own voice for
future notes or for teaching others about the subject
matter. The technology I will use for non learning purposes
is the tablet. I will use it to check my emails, play some
games and even search the web as non learning purposes.
The mobile technology that I would avoid completely is
micro blogs. I never liked it and since the beginning I
already thought I would never use it. It is complicated to
use because I was never enjoyed working with it.
