If you are a technology buff, then January sure holds a place of importance for you. But, if you are not into technological things, then let me enlighten you with my recently gained knowledge. History is a great teacher. What do the Agricultural & Industrial Revolution teach us about the Digital Revolution. How will business models and values change and what must we do to adapt to a step change in the way we work and consume products and resources. Life as a Service talks about this and a lot more as we move swiftly from the era of "stack him high price em' low" to the experience and collaborative economy which are expected to cross $100Bn by 2016. Who is adopting these new philosophies and what must be done to avoid the plague of commoditization or irrelevance facing so many firms in so many industries.
The modern city is becoming a pointer system, the new URL, for tomorrow’s hybrid digital physical environment. Today's Facebook will be complemented by tomorrow's Placebook.

Software is changing the way traditional business operate. People now have smartphones in their pockets - a supercomputer that is 25,000 times more powerful and the minicomputers of the 1960s. This is changing people´s behaviour and how people shop and use services. The organizational structure created in the 20th century cannot survive when new digital solution are being offered. The hierarchical structure of these established companies assumes high coordination cost due to human activity. But when the coordination cost drops
The organisational structure that companies in the 20th century established was based on the fact that employees needed to do all the work. The coordination cost was high due to the effort and cost of employees, housing etc. Now we have software that can do this for use and the coordination cost drops to close-to-zero. Another thing is that things become free. Consider Flickr. Anybody can sign up and use the service for free. Only a fraction of the users get pro account and pay. How can Flickr make money on that? It turns out that services like this can.
Many businesses make money by giving things away. How can that possibly work? The music business has suffered severely with digital distribution of content. Should musicians put all there songs on YouTube? What is the future business model for music?

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
