Most of the people who answered the questionnaire are female (with 23 females answering the
questionnaire) so all the results will be based around female preferences and choices.
There were 5 males that answered the questionnaire so theyโ€™re preferences and choices wonโ€™t
be as input as the female answers. However the male choices are still as important as the others
because they could make the difference between pasta being a more popular dish rather than
lasagne.
When we filter the results out we can see all the female choices separate from the male choices.
This helps figure out what different sexโ€™s prefer, if there is any difference at all.

Under 16 16-20 Over 20
Age Groups
The majority of
people answering
our questionnaire
were mainly aged
between 16-20.
Looking at the data
more closely the
break down the
majority of the
answers came from
people aged 17.
I put the data into the
age blocks Under
16, 16-20 and over 20
as some of the ages
were very close
together and some
very far apart. The ages
ranged from 16-
46, youngest to oldest.
This graph shows us that only one person out of 28 people are vegetarian. By filtering the
results we can find out that the one vegetarian who answered the questionnaire is an 18
year old female.
Filtering the results again also shows that 100% of the males that answered are not
vegetarian. This could make our recipe cards to be aimed at men to let them try vegetarian
food and enjoy it, maybe, in the end, turning them into vegetarians.
This result shows that seventeen out of twenty eight people prefer simple dishes rather
than cultural, exotic dishes. This could be because most of the people who answered the
questionnaire were students (ages 16-19) so they would be looking for quick and simple
dishes to make.
Filtering the results, this theory is confirmed along with the fact that fourteen out of twenty
three females and three out of five males prefer simple dishes.

Whats your Favourite Meal?
The data that the survey
has gathered shows the
majority of the people who
have answered prefer
pasta based meals, as the
majority have put pasta as
their favorite meal and the
other top meals include
pasta in them such as
Lasagna which is the
second favorite and then
another pasta dish such as
Spaghetti Bolognese. The
data is quite interesting as
it shows on this question
that only 2 people have
picked pizza as their
favorite meal, however on
the next question โ€˜ What
food do you eat a lot of?โ€™
pizza was the most popular
answer out of all the other
food types.

What food do you eat a lot of?
The data from this
question shows that the
majority of people eat
Pizza, Sweet food and
Pasta these are all fast
foods to make which
corresponds with the
fact that the majority of
people that answered
our survey were young
people and mostly
students. This makes this
data useful to use if we
choose to make student
recipe cards as we know
most of the people
answering donโ€™t
particularly cook.
These graphs/charts show what the people
who did the questionnaire would like to see on
the recipe cards and how they would like the
recipe card to be set out. This will help us to set
out the recipe cards, choose methods of steps
to present the recipe and ingredients etc
(either using step by step pictures or step by
step words). It also determines if people want a
big picture on the front or if they want little
pictures throughout. Another thing it would
help us decide upon is the use of colour
(whether to use lots, colours that fit with the
recipe or not a lot of colour etc). Nobody
wanted to see the recipe card without any
colour so everyone that did the questionnaire
must want some form of colour on it, whether
it be relevant to the recipe or just colourful.
The majority of people answered this question preferring to have informal
language. From our results we can assume that students prefer informal
language. However there was one anomalous result age wise with the oldest
person that answered the survey requested informal language on the recipe
cards. Also the two answers weren't overly separated clearly as it was only a
small amount over half answered with informal.
By doing this question we found out the main reason people buy recipe cards is for
ideas for meals. This could mean they have family to please or just fancy trying
something new. Close behind this result was people who wanted help with cooking.
In theory these people might be students who are starting to become more
independent and they want to know meals and how to make them or they just want
inspiration for quick meals.
This answer to the survey is answered
by someone who isn't the norm as
firstly he is male as the majority of the
answers were females. He is also a lot
older than the majority of the people
answering the questionnaire so his
answers differ from the norm. He also
answered that he prefers exotic dishes
this is the opposite from what the
majority of people answered. He also
specified a more complex dish โ€˜chicken
tikkaโ€™ rather than the other answers
which consist of simple meals such as
pasta/spaghetti and fast food such as
pizza and chips. He also answered the
โ€˜how would you like a recipe card to be
set out?โ€™ question which an answer
thatโ€™s also not the majority as most
people chose โ€˜ written outโ€™ whereas he
chose a โ€˜picture step by step with a
introductory paragraphโ€™.
This answer is the most generic answer to
our survey, as the subject answering this
survey has chosen the most common
answers. The majority of the people we
surveyed were aged 17 and
female, although this wasnโ€™t particularly
our target audience the social networking
site we used to publish our survey to get
our results mainly focused on answers
from our peers. The answer from this
individual survey also has the most
common answer for โ€˜do you prefer simple
dishes or exotic and culturalโ€™ this shows us
the majority of people answering this are
young or students and prefer simple meals
rather than exotic. The person answering
this individual survey also puts that they
like lasagne which was one of the top
answers, similar to the 6th question where
they answered pizza which came top for
the most eaten food. Written Recipe cards
step by step was also the most popular
answer.

Suvey monkey data analysis (resubmission)

  • 1. Most of the people who answered the questionnaire are female (with 23 females answering the questionnaire) so all the results will be based around female preferences and choices. There were 5 males that answered the questionnaire so theyโ€™re preferences and choices wonโ€™t be as input as the female answers. However the male choices are still as important as the others because they could make the difference between pasta being a more popular dish rather than lasagne. When we filter the results out we can see all the female choices separate from the male choices. This helps figure out what different sexโ€™s prefer, if there is any difference at all.
  • 2. 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 Under 16 16-20 Over 20 Age Groups The majority of people answering our questionnaire were mainly aged between 16-20. Looking at the data more closely the break down the majority of the answers came from people aged 17. I put the data into the age blocks Under 16, 16-20 and over 20 as some of the ages were very close together and some very far apart. The ages ranged from 16- 46, youngest to oldest.
  • 3. This graph shows us that only one person out of 28 people are vegetarian. By filtering the results we can find out that the one vegetarian who answered the questionnaire is an 18 year old female. Filtering the results again also shows that 100% of the males that answered are not vegetarian. This could make our recipe cards to be aimed at men to let them try vegetarian food and enjoy it, maybe, in the end, turning them into vegetarians.
  • 4. This result shows that seventeen out of twenty eight people prefer simple dishes rather than cultural, exotic dishes. This could be because most of the people who answered the questionnaire were students (ages 16-19) so they would be looking for quick and simple dishes to make. Filtering the results, this theory is confirmed along with the fact that fourteen out of twenty three females and three out of five males prefer simple dishes.
  • 5. 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Scampi ChickenBurger BreakfastFood RoastChickenDinner Pizza Lasagna Pasta SpagettiBolognese ChickenTikka ChipSandwich Fajitas Chickenandโ€ฆ Curry Whats your Favourite Meal? The data that the survey has gathered shows the majority of the people who have answered prefer pasta based meals, as the majority have put pasta as their favorite meal and the other top meals include pasta in them such as Lasagna which is the second favorite and then another pasta dish such as Spaghetti Bolognese. The data is quite interesting as it shows on this question that only 2 people have picked pizza as their favorite meal, however on the next question โ€˜ What food do you eat a lot of?โ€™ pizza was the most popular answer out of all the other food types.
  • 6. 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 What food do you eat a lot of? The data from this question shows that the majority of people eat Pizza, Sweet food and Pasta these are all fast foods to make which corresponds with the fact that the majority of people that answered our survey were young people and mostly students. This makes this data useful to use if we choose to make student recipe cards as we know most of the people answering donโ€™t particularly cook.
  • 7. These graphs/charts show what the people who did the questionnaire would like to see on the recipe cards and how they would like the recipe card to be set out. This will help us to set out the recipe cards, choose methods of steps to present the recipe and ingredients etc (either using step by step pictures or step by step words). It also determines if people want a big picture on the front or if they want little pictures throughout. Another thing it would help us decide upon is the use of colour (whether to use lots, colours that fit with the recipe or not a lot of colour etc). Nobody wanted to see the recipe card without any colour so everyone that did the questionnaire must want some form of colour on it, whether it be relevant to the recipe or just colourful.
  • 8. The majority of people answered this question preferring to have informal language. From our results we can assume that students prefer informal language. However there was one anomalous result age wise with the oldest person that answered the survey requested informal language on the recipe cards. Also the two answers weren't overly separated clearly as it was only a small amount over half answered with informal.
  • 9. By doing this question we found out the main reason people buy recipe cards is for ideas for meals. This could mean they have family to please or just fancy trying something new. Close behind this result was people who wanted help with cooking. In theory these people might be students who are starting to become more independent and they want to know meals and how to make them or they just want inspiration for quick meals.
  • 10. This answer to the survey is answered by someone who isn't the norm as firstly he is male as the majority of the answers were females. He is also a lot older than the majority of the people answering the questionnaire so his answers differ from the norm. He also answered that he prefers exotic dishes this is the opposite from what the majority of people answered. He also specified a more complex dish โ€˜chicken tikkaโ€™ rather than the other answers which consist of simple meals such as pasta/spaghetti and fast food such as pizza and chips. He also answered the โ€˜how would you like a recipe card to be set out?โ€™ question which an answer thatโ€™s also not the majority as most people chose โ€˜ written outโ€™ whereas he chose a โ€˜picture step by step with a introductory paragraphโ€™.
  • 11. This answer is the most generic answer to our survey, as the subject answering this survey has chosen the most common answers. The majority of the people we surveyed were aged 17 and female, although this wasnโ€™t particularly our target audience the social networking site we used to publish our survey to get our results mainly focused on answers from our peers. The answer from this individual survey also has the most common answer for โ€˜do you prefer simple dishes or exotic and culturalโ€™ this shows us the majority of people answering this are young or students and prefer simple meals rather than exotic. The person answering this individual survey also puts that they like lasagne which was one of the top answers, similar to the 6th question where they answered pizza which came top for the most eaten food. Written Recipe cards step by step was also the most popular answer.
