the SDGs
• The target of this goal is to ensure that countries have what is
needed in achieving the rest of the SDGs such as funds,
capacities, and technologies.
• The goal emphasize the need for partnership and collaboration.
WEAKNESS OF SDGS
• Lack of enforceability: As mentioned earlier, the SDGs are not legally binding, and
there are no penalties for countries that fail to meet the targets. This means that
countries may not feel compelled to take the necessary actions to achieve the goals.
• Limited resources: Many of the SDGs require significant financial resources to
achieve, but many countries lack the necessary resources to invest in achieving the
goals. This can be particularly challenging for low-income countries, which may need
support from wealthier nations to achieve the SDGs.
• Complex interlinkages: The 17 SDGs and their associated targets are interconnected
and require a coordinated approach to achieve. However, this can be challenging
given the diverse range of stakeholders involved and the complexity of the issues
being addressed. It may also require significant changes in policy, institutional
arrangements, and societal behavior.
STRENGTHS OF SDGS
• Comprehensive approach to sustainable development: The SDGs provide a
comprehensive framework for sustainable development that covers a wide range of issues
related to poverty reduction, environmental protection, and economic growth. This
approach recognizes that sustainable development requires a holistic approach that
addresses the root causes of poverty and inequality, and promotes social, economic, and
environmental sustainability.
• Universality and accountability: The SDGs are universal, meaning that they apply to all
countries, regardless of their level of development. This ensures that all countries are held
accountable for achieving sustainable development, and that progress towards the goals
is transparent and measurable. The SDGs also provide a platform for global cooperation
and partnerships, which can help to mobilize resources and support for sustainable
development.
• Participation and inclusion: The SDGs were developed through a participatory process
that involved input from a wide range of stakeholders, including governments, civil society
organizations, and the private sector. This process ensured that the goals reflect the needs
and priorities of diverse communities and stakeholders. The SDGs also promote inclusion
and equity, by prioritizing the most vulnerable and marginalized groups, such as women,
children, and people living in poverty.

  • 22. WEAKNESS OF SDGS • Lack of enforceability: As mentioned earlier, the SDGs are not legally binding, and there are no penalties for countries that fail to meet the targets. This means that countries may not feel compelled to take the necessary actions to achieve the goals. • Limited resources: Many of the SDGs require significant financial resources to achieve, but many countries lack the necessary resources to invest in achieving the goals. This can be particularly challenging for low-income countries, which may need support from wealthier nations to achieve the SDGs. • Complex interlinkages: The 17 SDGs and their associated targets are interconnected and require a coordinated approach to achieve. However, this can be challenging given the diverse range of stakeholders involved and the complexity of the issues being addressed. It may also require significant changes in policy, institutional arrangements, and societal behavior.
  • 23. STRENGTHS OF SDGS • Comprehensive approach to sustainable development: The SDGs provide a comprehensive framework for sustainable development that covers a wide range of issues related to poverty reduction, environmental protection, and economic growth. This approach recognizes that sustainable development requires a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of poverty and inequality, and promotes social, economic, and environmental sustainability. • Universality and accountability: The SDGs are universal, meaning that they apply to all countries, regardless of their level of development. This ensures that all countries are held accountable for achieving sustainable development, and that progress towards the goals is transparent and measurable. The SDGs also provide a platform for global cooperation and partnerships, which can help to mobilize resources and support for sustainable development. • Participation and inclusion: The SDGs were developed through a participatory process that involved input from a wide range of stakeholders, including governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector. This process ensured that the goals reflect the needs and priorities of diverse communities and stakeholders. The SDGs also promote inclusion and equity, by prioritizing the most vulnerable and marginalized groups, such as women, children, and people living in poverty.
