Survey Analysis

In our first question in
our survey we asked
how old the person was.
We wanted to find this
out so that we can try
and establish a target
audience and so we can
try to make our film
appeal to the target
audience. We found
that 15 to 20 year olds
answered the most
surveys and we
therefore have more
information about the
then any other age
group. The second
question asks what job
they have. The reason
we asked this is because
we can identify a
demographic and once
we have identified that,
like the age group, we
can mold our film to fit
the desired
demographic. The
majority of people we
surveyed were students
and therefore we will
have to appeal to them
to make our film
successful. The third
question will help us
find out if the target
audience likes watching
films. We found that
there is a varied range of
responses. This does
not really help us
however the majority of
votes is for ‘a great
deal’. The significance
of this is that we cannot
copy any ideas because
the viewers may spot
similarities.
In our forth question you can
clearly see that the majority of
people prefer comedy. This
consequently means that we
may have to add comedic
effects into the film; we also
found that no one likes Horror
or Fantasy. We will therefore
make the film not include
these things because they will
not appeal to our target
audience. The fifth question
that we used was a question
about their favourite
actor/actress. The reason why
we put this in is because we
can look at the actor’s/actress
most famous film and try to
model our film around that.
For example, two people said
Samuel L. Jackson. One of
his best films is Coach Carter
and that is a film based on
Basketball. This therefore
means that we have can mimic
and take inspiration from that
film and create our own film.
The next question will help us
identify where our film should
be set. We found that the
majority of people like films
that they can relate too and say
that they have been there etc.
Therefore we have included
very common locations such
as a classroom and we have
also included a school gym
because now people can relate
to it.
Our seventh
question asks what
makes a great film.
We found that the
majority of people
think that storyline is
very important.
Because of this we
have focused on
making our storyline
very enticing to
viewers and it will
make them want to
watch. Also we
found that camera
shots and acting are
important so we
have worked hard to
try and make them
as good as they can
be. The next
question asks what
their favourite kind
of film is.
Hollywood got 50%
of the votes. This
therefore means we
will listen to our
target audience and
make our film a
Hollywood style of
film.
The penultimate question
asks whether they like music
in film. Although the
majority said yes a few said
that they don’t really notice
it. This is interesting because
it is said that 50% of film is
sound. Therefore we will
include sound but we will
make it fit into the
background so that the
audience doesn’t get
distracted by it and
consequently lose focus on
the film. The final question
asks what their favourite film
is. We found that the
majority of the films follow a
hero who fights through
challenges to achieve his
goal. An example of the
answers is Scott Pilgrim vs.
the World. This is a classic
example of a hero film. We
will therefore make our film
follow the ideology that the
majority of the films follow.
