The majority of respondents to the survey were female students aged 17-25 who identified as White British. Pop music was the most popular genre reported, followed by indie and R&B. Most respondents said they would spend between £2-£2.99 on music and preferred to buy music magazines from newsagents or supermarkets due to the pictures, free items, and interviews featured in the magazines.

those who use facebook, as that’s who filled in my survey)

They would also be likely to buy the magazines because of the
pictures, the freebies and the interviews also have a large
influence.

This could suggest that there is a magazine that appeals to the.
The most common magazines bought in the past are Billboard, Smash Hits,
and NME magazines. Two from the most three successful types are chart
magazines, suggesting they are popular.
