The Royal Australian Survey Corps (RASvy) provides topographic support to the Australian Defence Force. It recognizes that evolving military systems require digital topographic data. RASvy has three initiatives to provide this data: the Digital Chart of the World project to develop global digital maps; the Military Geographic Information pilot project to introduce users to GIS; and Project Parare to allow capture of topographic data from various sources to produce maps and databases. These initiatives are designed to meet the ADF's requirements for digital and conventional topographic data to support modern weapons and navigation systems.
