This document is the original work of students from Class 10 at Kuwait Indian School during the 2014-2015 academic year. It introduces various 3D shapes like cubes, cuboids, cylinders, cones, spheres, hemispheres and frustums. It defines surface area as the total area of faces and curved surfaces, and volume as the amount of space inside a solid figure. The students thank their teacher Mrs. Leena Saji for the opportunity to do this presentation and research 3D shapes.

5. Surface area is the total area of the faces and
curved surface of the solid figure. Mathematical
description of the surface area is considerably more
involved than the definition of the arc length the surface
area is the sum of the areas of its faces. Smooth
surfaces, such as sphere are assigned surface area
using their representation as parametric surfaces.
Volume is the measure of the amount of space
inside of solid figure, like a cube, ball, cylinder or
pyramid. It’s units are always “cubic”, that is, the
number of little element cubes that fit inside the
figure.
