Supagas Visitor / Contractor Induction
Before we progress there are a few things you need to
know about this Supagas Branch.
This will only take about 5 - 20 minutes, depending on the type of work you will be doing on
site. Please feel free to ask me as many questions as you like during this introduction to our
site. It is important that you stay with your site escort at all times or within the boundaries
outlined in the Work Permit.

Safety Management Plan
Safety Management Plan (SMP) - Each Supagas Site is bound by law to
have a centrally controlling document that outlines exactly how the company
will conduct its business in the areas of safety and operations.
A copy of the Site Safety Management Plan is on display at each of our
Branches and on the Supagas Shared Drive.
The SMP must be adhered to at all times.
All staff, contractors and visitors are obligated to comply with all relevant
standards, legislation and site SMP.
You are bound by law to ensure you follow the instructions outlined in the
Safety Management Plan.
All directives given by Site Safety Managers, Operators, Executive Safety
Manager, in accordance with the SMP, must be followed. This is legally
binding.
All Supagas Policies and Procedures are essential elements of the SMP.

Hazardous Areas – Supagas Branches
What to look out for while onsite at
Supagas a Supagas Branch:
Gravity - hazards such as falling and tripping. Staff should be
especially careful when working at heights (Loading docks etc)
Chemical - Solids, liquids, gases that burn, explode, affect
people due to contact, inhalation or ingestion
Electrical - Contact, induction, arcing (hazards such as
inadvertent contact, faults, arcing in a gaseous environment)
Mechanical - Caught in, hit by, collisions (hazards such as
vehicle collisions, caught in moving equipment, hit by moving
machinery, machine vibration, etc.)
Pressure - Release or explosion of air/gas, water/liquids,
hydraulics or mechanical items under pressure (including noise)
(hazards such as pneumatic/tyre failures, hydraulic pressure
releases, spring pressure release, excessive noise, etc.)
Radiant - Radiation, hot or cold surfaces (hazards such as
radioactive materials, sunshine, overheated mechanical
equipment, refrigeration systems, etc.)
Biomechanical - Overexertion, repetition, slip / trip hazards
causing injury or illness to a person. The body’s mechanical
energy that slips, trips, strains, sprains (hazards such as manual
handling, poor housekeeping, poor access, poor work positions,
etc.)
(Micro) biological - Biohazards, microbiological , viruses,
bacteria, wildlife - dangerous animals - animal bites, toxic
vegetation

The Supagas Visitor / Contractor Induction has been prepared for your safety and for the safety of others.
All contractors and visitors onsite must first complete this induction with a Supagas Site Safety Manager.
It is important that you follow all instructions that are given to you by the Supagas staff members.
By signing the Supagas Visitor Book you agree to comply with all instructions given to you by Supagas
staff members as well as acknowledge the information listed below.
Visitors / Contractors Working UNATTENDED
I have been provided with a site tour and have been explained the hazardous zones.
I have been explained how to use an Emergency Stop Button and know where they are located.
I understand all Supagas Safety Signage
I declare that the tools I will be working with onsite are in good working condition and that I have the necessary
skills, knowledge and qualifications to complete the work required.
I have been explained the hazards that I may face while working in a particular area.
All Visitors / Contractors
I agree to wear the Personal Protective Equipment that is required in the area that I am to be working in.
I have been shown the location of the first aid kits, know who the first aid officers are on site and understand the
requirement to report all accidents, incidents and near misses.
I understand that I am not to handle any Supagas equipment or vehicles unless instructed by a designated
Supagas employee.
I understand that I am not to use my mobile phone in the yard area.
I understand that there is no smoking on site.
I have been shown the location of the toilets and amenities.
I have been shown emergency exits and emergency assembly points.
I have signed the Visitor Book.
