This document discusses long-term ethnography as a valuable tool for long-term ethnographic research. It provides context on the history and evolution of ethnography, traditionally involving long-term fieldwork over many months or years. However, more recently, shorter-term ethnographic studies have become more common. The document argues that long-term ethnography, involving planned long-term study using the same or different teams, can further the objectives of ethnography by allowing the study of cultural changes over time under different circumstances and obtaining secondary opinions on cultures studied. The main objectives of long-term ethnography are outlined as studying cultural changes over periods of time, understanding how internal and external factors influence changes, and obtaining additional perspectives on cultures
