Meetings
What makes a good and bad meeting?

             good bad

Well organised Disoranised
Everyone arrives on time Lateness
No distractions Cell phones ringing
Short long and boring
Achieves something PowerPoint!!!!
Can you describe some Korean
Business customs?
Understanding the language of culture
What cultural differences have you
experienced?
Being aware of cultural differences is a vital skill
for any global business person.
Shaking hands
Where did you learn?
절
2 shakes and let go
Hold firmly - not limp or bone crushing
Make eye contact
Cell Phones
It is rude.

It is disrespectful.

It disturbs everyone in
the meeting.

Nothing is more
important than the
meeting you are in.

“
Please excuse me, I really
must take this call.

                   ”
Video
“ ”
I am very annoyed; Very annoyed
“ How are you?
                   ”
“ I’m fine thank you
    and you?
             ”
“
I’m very well thank
you. How are you?

A word about clothes...
What’s wrong
here?
Short sleeved

- UNIFORM
Get your clothes wrong in

Planning meetings
The six ‘P’s

Perfect Planning & Preparation
Prevents Poor Performance
How many meetings do you attend where you
receive full details of what the meeting is
about, what to prepare and what the desired
outcome is? (as a percentage)
How many days before the meeting did
you receive this information?
What things should be prepared
before a meeting?
Meeting Room
Equipment
Agendas

Why is an agenda
so important?
Food and drink
Always prepare an agenda
A meeting with no agenda will always fail
Always begin the meeting on
time and never be late to a
meeting.
Arriving late will show you are
rude and inconsiderate
Make sure you read the pre-meeting
materials in good time
Never attend a meeting unprepared
If you are going to do a presentation - arrive
early and make sure everything is working
there is no excuse for a laptop computer
not to work
If you are the organiser - make
sure the meeting finishes on
time - early is good but late is
very bad.
Attendees have other things
to do
Have a meeting with your colleagues
beforehand to discuss who is going to say what
and when.
Be organised
A word about PowerPoint in meetings
“I have a dream”
That all
presentations
shall one day be
created fantastic!
Where are we
           today?

Where are we today?
Everyday -
Millions of
presentations
63% presented by
non-native
English Speakers
But we have a
problem.
“Death By PowerPoint”
 사람잡는 파워포인트
Most presenters
never think about
their audience

                    Not thinking
         udience
We tabulated all possible combinations of the findings with minimum 2
positive findings, arterial enhancement and T2 hyperintensity, because these two
findings were significant findings according to the multivariable logistic regression
analysis. .All six imaging findings were present in only 37 of 222 HCCs (16.7%).
The combination 2 included five findings present except for rim enhancement,
which was observed, most frequently. None of the DNs showed all six imaging
findings.

In conclusion, for differential diagnosis of small nodules in cirrhotic liver, Gd-EOB-
DTPA-enhanced MR is valuable. The high SI on T2WI and arterial enhancement on
Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MR images is helpful imaging findings for differentiating
small hepatocellular carcinomas from dysplastic nodules in cirrhotic liver. However,
                                                     Slides have too
additional suggestive findings need to achieve high accuracy for differentiating small
HCCs from DNs.
                                                     much text on them
Charts and graphs
that nobody
understands
We could blame PowerPoint
Peter Norvig
Google Director of Research
“PowerPoint doesn’t kill
meetings. People kill meetings.
But using PowerPoint is like
having a loaded AK-47 on the
table: You can do very bad things
with it.”

Peter Norvig, Google Director of Research
“
“회의를 망치는 것은 파워포인트가 아니라,
바로 사람들이다. 하지만, 파워포인트를 사용하는
것은, 마치 테이블 위에 총알이 가득 장전된
AK-47 자동소총을 올려 놓고 회의를 진행하는
것과 같은 격이다.

누구든, 이 총으로 회의장 분위기를 싸그리 날려

                                        ”
버릴 수 있게 되는 것이다.”

Peter Norvig, Google Director of Research
If you are responsible for the meeting - make
sure you plan carefully

If you are attending a meeting - make sure you
review the meeting materials before the
meetings.

If you are using PowerPoint - Make it
interesting
Silence is not always
golden
People are quite often afraid to speak
because they worry about being ‘judged’ on
their English ability.

Think about that - Do you not think this is
really stupid?
“ My biggest frustration in
                                  Korea, is that my staff
                                  never talk in meetings

CEO Bayer Pharmaceuticals - Asia Pacific
“
If you are not going to say anything
in the meeting -
don’t go
