1) Luminescence lifetime measurements were performed on Nd3+ ions in 6-FDA/UVR polymer and Al2O3 hosts using a laser diode excitation source. 2) In 6-FDA/UVR, the luminescence lifetime was 4 ms at 1060 nm, while in Al2O3 it was 325 ms at the lowest Nd3+ concentration and decreased with increasing concentration due to energy transfer upconversion. 3) Both materials showed Nd3+ absorption bands and photoluminescence emission, indicating they are suitable hosts for Nd3+ optical gain applications.
