2. INTRODUCTION
Chromatography –’colour’
and ‘to write”.
Basically it is a broad range of
physical methods used to
separate and /or to analyse
complex mixtures.
Components to be separated
are distributed between two
phases :a stationary phase
bed and a mobile phase
which flows through the
stationary bed.

3. Individual species are retained by the stationary
phase (packing) based on various interactions
such as surface adsorption, relative solubility of
the sample in the mobile phase and charge.

4. APPLICATIONS
Exhaled species often reflect the health
conditions of the human body.
To date, many investigations have been
conducted for diagnostics of health
conditions and disease based on analysis of
breath air . Breath analysis has many
applications and so is of great interest.

5. Exhaled NO: It’s the most interesting target of
medical gas analysis is exhaled nitric oxide
(eNO), especially as a marker of asthma.
Halitosis: Halitosis is caused by NH3 , amines,
and most importantly certain sulfur gases, such
as H2S, CH3SH, dimethylsulfide (DMS).
