The xerographic process involves 5 main steps:
1) Uniformly charging a photoconductive drum.
2) Projecting a light image of the document onto the drum to create a latent image.
3) Developing the latent image with toner particles that are attracted to the charged areas.
4) Transferring the toner image to paper using an electric field.
5) Fusing the toner to the paper using heat and pressure to produce the final copy. Xerography has been used in photocopiers and printers for over 70 years.
