A laser printer uses a laser beam to produce electrostatic images on a photoreceptor drum. Invented in 1969 by Gary Starweather at Xerox, a laser printer contains a laser, mirror/lens, toner hopper, photoreceptor drum, fuser, and discharge lamp. The printing process involves charging the drum, exposing it to the laser beam to create an electrostatic image, developing the image with toner which sticks to the exposed areas, transferring the toner image to paper using an electrical charge, fusing the image onto the paper with heat, and cleaning the drum for the next print. Laser printers provide high resolution, fast printing speeds, and lower black and white printing costs compared to inkjet printers,
