STRUCTURAL COST COMPARISON OF LOW RISE BUILDING HAVING MOMENT RESISTING FRAMES AND MOMENT RESISTING FRAMES WITH SHEAR WALL FOR DIFFERENT SCIESMIC ZONES: CASE STUDY
The document compares the structural cost of low-rise buildings with moment resisting frames and moment resisting frames with shear walls in different seismic zones. It presents a case study of a 4-story residential building modeled in STAAD Pro. The results show that in seismic Zone III, shear walls slightly increase costs but not above 10%. In Zone IV, costs are increased by up to 0.79% with shear walls. Shear walls are found to be more cost-effective in Zone V. Ratios of concrete/area, steel/concrete, and formwork/concrete are lower with shear wall designs. The study concludes shear walls make low-rise buildings more economical and resistant to earthquake damage in high seismic zones.

In the present study an attempt has been made to investigate the seismic behaviour of a multi-storey building with soft first storey. When subjected to seismic loads, it was observed that soft storey frames are less resistant when compared to infill frames.

makes them much stiffer than the open ground storey. Still Multi storey reinforced concrete buildings are
continuing to be built in India which has open ground storeys. It is imperative to know the behavior of
soft storey building to the seismic load for designing various retrofit strategies. Hence it is important to
study and understand the response of such buildings and make such buildings earthquake resistant based
on the study to prevent their collapse and to save the loss of life and property.

Generally Masonry infills are considered as non-structural elements and their stiffness contributions are generally ignored in practice. But they affect both the structural and non-structural performance of the RC buildings during earthquakes. RC frame building with open first storey is known as soft storey, which performs poorly during strong earthquake shaking. A similar soft storey effect can occur if first and second story used as service story. Hence a combination of two structural system components i.e. Rigid frames and RC shear walls leads to a highly efficient system in which shear wall resist the majority of the lateral loads and the frame supports majority of the gravity loads. To study the effect of masonry infill with different soft storey level, 7 models of Reinforced Concrete framed building were analyzed with two types of shear wall when subjected to earthquake loading. The results of bare frame and other building models have been compared, it is observed that model with swastika and L shape shear wall are showing efficient performance and hence reducing the effect of soft storey in model 3, model 4 and model 5.

Steel moment resisting frame with open first storey
(soft storey) is known to perform well compared with the RC
frames during strong earthquake shaking. The presence of
masonry infill wall influences the overall behavior of the
structure when subjected to lateral forces, when masonry infill
are considered to interact with their surrounding frames the
lateral stiffness and lateral load carrying capacity of structure
largely increase. In this paper, the seismic vulnerability of
building with soft storey is shown with an example of G+10
three dimensional (3D) steel frame. The open first storey is
an important functional requirement of almost all the urban
multi-storey buildings, and hence, cannot be eliminated.
Hence some special measures need to be adopted for this
specific situation. The under-lying principle of any solution
to this problem is in increasing the stiffness’s of the first
storey such that the first storey stiffness is at least 50% as
stiff as the second storey, i.e., soft first storeys are to be avoided,
and providing adequate lateral strength in the first storey. In
this paper, stiffness balancing is proposed between the first
and second storey of a steel moment resisting frame building
with open first storey and brick infills as described in models.
A simple example building is analyzed by modeling it with
nine different methods. The stiffness effect on the first storey
is demonstrated through the lateral displacement profile of
the building.

Objective: In this paper the analytical study on the lateral behaviour of the structure is mainly concentrated and how it is varying in the different zones of zone II and zone III with different storey heights of a 6storey, 11storey, and 16storey structure. The study also involves the orientation of shear wall. Method in this study the behaviour of lateral displacements induced on or after earthquakes. Concrete shear walls are used to resist the lateral displacement owing to earthquake vibrations. Shear walls can be placed around the building as periphery walls, around the lift and beside the staircase. Filing the buildings are modelled with floor area of 32mx28m. with 8 bays along 32m span and 7 bays along 28m and apiece bay width of 4m .the lateral displacement of the structure is compared in OMRF &SMRF and the lateral displacement values of current floor level to another floor level should reach storey drift, the analysis is done in staadprov8i.findingthe lateral displacements of the structure is compared in OMRF & SMRF and it is found that lateral displacement is less in SMRF compare with OMRF.

These buildings are generally designed as framed structures without regard to structural action of masonry infill walls. They are considered as non- structural elements. RC frame building with open first storey is known as soft storey, which performs poorly during strong earthquake shaking. Past earthquakes are evident that collapses due to soft storeys are most often in RC buildings. In the soft storey, columns are severely stressed and unable to provide adequate shear resistance during the earthquake. . In this study, 3D analytical model of twelve storeyed buildings have been generated for different buildings Models and analyzed using structural analysis tool 'ETABS'. To study the effect of infill, ground soft, bare frame and models with ground soft having concrete core wall and shear walls and concrete bracings at different positions during earthquake; seismic analysis using both linear static, linear dynamic (response spectrum method) has been performed. The analytical model of the building includes all important components that influence the mass, strength, stiffness and deformability of the structure.

of the structure. Structural engineers have responded to this challenge of lateral control with a myriad
of systems that achieve motion control while adhering to the overall architectural vision.
Reinforced Concrete (RC) wall-frame buildings are widely recommended for urban construction in areas
with high seismic hazard. Presence of structural walls imparts a large stiffness to the lateral-force resisting
system of the building. Proper detailing of walls can also lead to ductile behavior of such structures during
strong earthquake shaking. One of the major parameters influencing the seismic behavior of wall-frame
buildings is the wall-area ratio. Thus shear wall area ratio is set as a key parameter which needs to be investigated

RC frames with unreinforced masonry infill walls are a common form of construction all around the world. Often, engineers do not consider masonry infill walls in the design process because the final distribution of these elements may be unknown to them, or because masonry walls are regarded as non-structural elements. Separation between masonry walls and frames is often not provided and, as a consequence, walls and frames interact during strong ground motion. This leads to structural response deviating radically from what is expected in the design. The presence of masonry infills can result in higher stiffness and strength and it is cheap and built with low cost labor. Under lateral load, Masonry walls act as diagonal struts subjected to compression, while reinforced concrete confining members (Frames) act in tension and/or compression, depending on the direction of lateral earthquake forces. The main objective of this research is to develop a realistic matrix for the response modification factors for medium-rise skeletal buildings with masonry infills. In this study, the contribution of the masonry infill walls to the lateral behavior of reinforced concrete buildings was investigated. For this purpose, a five, seven and ten stories buildings are modelled as bare and infilled frames. The parameters investigated were infill ratio, panel aspect ratio, unidirectional eccentricity, bidirectional eccentricities. A Parametric study was developed on the behavior of medium rise infilled frame buildings under lateral loads to investigate the effect of these parameters as well as infill properties on this behavior
Seismic Response of Structure with Single Coreijtsrd
Shear walls and outriggers have been used so far to resist the seismic waves of earthquake and heavy winds actions. The complete failure of the structures that has occurred in the past due to catastrophic earthquake may be avoided with the use of shear wall in the structure. The study is concerned with the use of shear wall as a single core in structure that will resist the seismic waves of earthquake. In the present study analysis of RCC building has been carried out by changing the locations of shear walls in the building. The seismic analysis performed is linear dynamic response spectrum analysis using the well known analysis and design software ETABS 16.2.0. Seismic performance of the building has been investigated based on parameters such as strorey drift, base shear and storey displacement. MODELING AND ANALYSIS OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND WHITE LATER THICKNESS IN WIRE-...IAEME Publication
White layer thickness (WLT) formed and surface roughness in wire electric discharge turning (WEDT) of tungsten carbide composite has been made to model through response surface methodology (RSM). A Taguchi’s standard Design of experiments involving five input variables with three levels has been employed to establish a mathematical model between input parameters and responses. Percentage of cobalt content, spindle speed, Pulse on-time, wire feed and pulse off-time were changed during the experimental tests based on the Taguchi’s orthogonal array L27 (3^13). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that the mathematical models obtained can adequately describe performance within the parameters of the factors considered. There was a good agreement between the experimental and predicted values in this study.

The study explores the reasons for a transgender to become entrepreneurs. In this study transgender entrepreneur was taken as independent variable and reasons to become as dependent variable. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire containing a five point Likert Scale. The study examined the data of 30 transgender entrepreneurs in Salem Municipal Corporation of Tamil Nadu State, India. Simple Random sampling technique was used. Garrett Ranking Technique (Percentile Position, Mean Scores) was used as the analysis for the present study to identify the top 13 stimulus factors for establishment of trans entrepreneurial venture. Economic advancement of a nation is governed upon the upshot of a resolute entrepreneurial doings. The conception of entrepreneurship has stretched and materialized to the socially deflated uncharted sections of transgender community. Presently transgenders have smashed their stereotypes and are making recent headlines of achievements in various fields of our Indian society. The trans-community is gradually being observed in a new light and has been trying to achieve prospective growth in entrepreneurship. The findings of the research revealed that the optimistic changes are taking place to change affirmative societal outlook of the transgender for entrepreneurial ventureship. It also laid emphasis on other transgenders to renovate their traditional living. The paper also highlights that legislators, supervisory body should endorse an impartial canons and reforms in Tamil Nadu Transgender Welfare Board Association.

The prototype of a voice-based ATM for visually impaired using Arduino is to help people who are blind. This uses RFID cards which contain users fingerprint encrypted on it and interacts with the users through voice commands. ATM operates when sensor detects the presence of one person in the cabin. After scanning the RFID card, it will ask to select the mode like –normal or blind. User can select the respective mode through voice input, if blind mode is selected the balance check or cash withdraw can be done through voice input. Normal mode procedure is same as the existing ATM.

There is increasing acceptability of emotional intelligence as a major factor in personality assessment and effective human resource management. Emotional intelligence as the ability to build capacity, empathize, co-operate, motivate and develop others cannot be divorced from both effective performance and human resource management systems. The human person is crucial in defining organizational leadership and fortunes in terms of challenges and opportunities and walking across both multinational and bilateral relationships. The growing complexity of the business world requires a great deal of self-confidence, integrity, communication, conflict and diversity management to keep the global enterprise within the paths of productivity and sustainability. Using the exploratory research design and 255 participants the result of this original study indicates strong positive correlation between emotional intelligence and effective human resource management. The paper offers suggestions on further studies between emotional intelligence and human capital development and recommends for conflict management as an integral part of effective human resource management.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of aspects of Organizational Culture on the Effectiveness of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Health Care Organization at Thanjavur. Organizational Culture and PMS play a crucial role in present-day organizations in achieving their objectives. PMS needs employees’ cooperation to achieve its intended objectives. Employees' cooperation depends upon the organization’s culture. The present study uses exploratory research to examine the relationship between the Organization's culture and the Effectiveness of the Performance Management System. The study uses a Structured Questionnaire to collect the primary data. For this study, Thirty-six non-clinical employees were selected from twelve randomly selected Health Care organizations at Thanjavur. Thirty-two fully completed questionnaires were received.

The goal of this study was to see how talent management affected employee retention in the selected IT organizations in Chennai. The fundamental issue was the difficulty to attract, hire, and retain talented personnel who perform well and the gap between supply and demand of talent acquisition and retaining them within the firms. The study's main goals were to determine the impact of talent management on employee retention in IT companies in Chennai, investigate talent management strategies that IT companies could use to improve talent acquisition, performance management, career planning and formulate retention strategies that the IT firms could use. The respondents were given a structured close-ended questionnaire with the 5 Point Likert Scale as part of the study's quantitative research design. The target population consisted of 289 IT professionals. The questionnaires were distributed and collected by the researcher directly. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to collect and analyse the questionnaire responses. Hypotheses that were formulated for the various areas of the study were tested using a variety of statistical tests. The key findings of the study suggested that talent management had an impact on employee retention. The studies also found that there is a clear link between the implementation of talent management and retention measures. Management should provide enough training and development for employees, clarify job responsibilities, provide adequate remuneration packages, and recognise employees for exceptional performance.

Globally, Millions of dollars were spent by the organizations for employing skilled Information Technology (IT) professionals. It is costly to replace unskilled employees with IT professionals possessing technical skills and competencies that aid in interconnecting the business processes. The organization’s employment tactics were forced to alter by globalization along with technological innovations as they consistently diminish to remain lean, outsource to concentrate on core competencies along with restructuring/reallocate personnel to gather efficiency. As other jobs, organizations or professions have become reasonably more appropriate in a shifting employment landscape, the above alterations trigger both involuntary as well as voluntary turnover. The employee view on jobs is also afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic along with the employee-driven labour market. So, having effective strategies is necessary to tackle the withdrawal rate of employees. By associating Emotional Intelligence (EI) along with Talent Management (TM) in the IT industry, the rise in attrition rate was analyzed in this study. Only 303 respondents were collected out of 350 participants to whom questionnaires were distributed. From the employees of IT organizations located in Bangalore (India), the data were congregated. A simple random sampling methodology was employed to congregate data as of the respondents. Generating the hypothesis along with testing is eventuated. The effect of EI and TM along with regression analysis between TM and EI was analyzed. The outcomes indicated that employee and Organizational Performance (OP) were elevated by effective EI along with TM.

Banking regulations act of India, 1949 defines banking as “acceptance of deposits for the purpose of lending or investment from the public, repayment on demand or otherwise and withdrawable through cheques, drafts order or otherwise”, the major participants of the Indian financial system are commercial banks, the financial institution encompassing term lending institutions. Investments institutions, specialized financial institution and the state level development banks, non banking financial companies (NBFC) and other market intermediaries such has the stock brokers and money lenders are among the oldest of the certain variants of NBFC and the oldest market participants. The asset quality of banks is one of the most important indicators of their financial health. The Indian banking sector has been facing severe problems of increasing Non- Performing Assets (NPAs). The NPAs growth directly and indirectly affects the quality of assets and profitability of banks. It also shows the efficiency of banks credit risk management and the recovery effectiveness. NPA do not generate any income, whereas, the bank is required to make provisions for such as assets that why is a double edge weapon. This paper outlines the concept of quality of bank loans of different types like Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of selected public and private sector banks. This study is highlighting problems associated with the role of commercial bank in financing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME). The overall objective of the research was to assess the effect of the financing provisions existing for the setting up and operations of MSMEs in the country and to generate recommendations for more robust financing mechanisms for successful operation of the MSMEs, in turn understanding the impact of MSME loans on financial institutions due to NPA. There are many research conducted on the topic of Non- Performing Assets (NPA) Management, concerning particular bank, comparative study of public and private banks etc. In this paper the researcher is considering the aggregate data of selected public sector and private sector banks and attempts to compare the NPA of Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of public and private sector banks. The tools used in the study are average and Anova test and variance. The findings reveal that NPA is common problem for both public and private sector banks and is associated with all types of loans either that is housing loans, agriculture loans and loans to SMES. NPAs of both public and private sector banks show the increasing trend. In 2010-11 GNPA of public and private sector were at same level it was 2% but after 2010-11 it increased in many fold and at present there is GNPA in some more than 15%. It shows the dark area of Indian banking sector.

An experiment conducted in this study found that BaSO4 changed Nylon 6's mechanical properties. By changing the weight ratios, BaSO4 was used to make Nylon 6. This Researcher looked into how hard Nylon-6/BaSO4 composites are and how well they wear. Experiments were done based on Taguchi design L9. Nylon-6/BaSO4 composites can be tested for their hardness number using a Rockwell hardness testing apparatus. On Nylon/BaSO4, the wear behavior was measured by a wear monitor, pinon-disc friction by varying reinforcement, sliding speed, and sliding distance, and the microstructure of the crack surfaces was observed by SEM. This study provides significant contributions to ultimate strength by increasing BaSO4 content up to 16% in the composites, and sliding speed contributes 72.45% to the wear rate

The economic development of our country largely depends on the progress of rural areas and the standard of living of rural masses. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Rural entrepreneurship is based on stimulating local entrepreneurial talent and the subsequent growth of indigenous enterprises. It recognizes opportunity in the rural areas and accelerates a unique blend of resources either inside or outside of agriculture. Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India. The paper the tendencies of social entrepreneurship in India, to present successful examples of such business for providing recommendations how to improve situation in rural areas in terms of social entrepreneurship development. Indian government has made some steps towards development of social enterprises, social entrepreneurship, and social in- novation, but a lot remains to be improved.
OPTIMAL RECONFIGURATION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION RADIAL NETWORK USING HYBRID MET...IAEME Publication
Distribution system is a critical link between the electric power distributor and the consumers. Most of the distribution networks commonly used by the electric utility is the radial distribution network. However in this type of network, it has technical issues such as enormous power losses which affect the quality of the supply. Nowadays, the introduction of Distributed Generation (DG) units in the system help improve and support the voltage profile of the network as well as the performance of the system components through power loss mitigation. In this study network reconfiguration was done using two meta-heuristic algorithms Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance power quality and voltage profile in the system when simultaneously applied with the DG units. Backward/Forward Sweep Method was used in the load flow analysis and simulated using the MATLAB program. Five cases were considered in the Reconfiguration based on the contribution of DG units. The proposed method was tested using IEEE 33 bus system. Based on the results, there was a voltage profile improvement in the system from 0.9038 p.u. to 0.9594 p.u.. The integration of DG in the network also reduced power losses from 210.98 kW to 69.3963 kW. Simulated results are drawn to show the performance of each case.

A MULTIPLE – CHANNEL QUEUING MODELS ON FUZZY ENVIRONMENTIAEME Publication
In this paper, we investigated a queuing model of fuzzy environment-based a multiple channel queuing model (M/M/C) ( /FCFS) and study its performance under realistic conditions. It applies a nonagonal fuzzy number to analyse the relevant performance of a multiple channel queuing model (M/M/C) ( /FCFS). Based on the sub interval average ranking method for nonagonal fuzzy number, we convert fuzzy number to crisp one. Numerical results reveal that the efficiency of this method. Intuitively, the fuzzy environment adapts well to a multiple channel queuing models (M/M/C) ( /FCFS) are very well.

Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two type of water scarcity. One is physical. The other is economic water scarcity.

energy dissipation due to large stiffness of wall, thus in case of multi storey building it is
possible to achieve a good storey drift control.
Despite the attractiveness and prevalence of dual systems, this approach is developed
since long at world level and recently in India; a research effort has been directed towards the
development of relevant seismic design methodologies. The common practise of allocating a
portion of the lateral forces to the frames and remainder to the walls, each of which then
independently analysed is entirely inappropriate. Compatibility of deformation between two
elements must be considered. In this study, with the help of case study, we concentrate on the
effect of dual system on overall cost of structure.
2. DIFFERENT TYPE OF STUCTURAL SYSTEMS
There are four basic systems for high-rise buildings
1) Moment Resisting Frames
2) Moment Resisting Frames With Shear walls
3) Framed Tube System
4) Tube in Tube System

2.1. Moment resisting frames
Moment Resisting Frame is space frame designed to carry all vertical and horizontal loads by
developing bending moments in the members and at joints. Lateral load resisting capacity of
reinforced concrete framed structures depend mainly on rigidity of member connections.

2.2. Shear wall
Shear walls are essentially columns with a large depth and a small width. The walls are quite
stiff in their own plane and flexible in the perpendicular plane. Thus a shear wall transfers the

lateral force in its own plane by developing moment and shear resistance. Large amount of
lateral force will be transferred to walls because of moment of inertia and large stiffness of
wall.

2.3. Moment resisting frames with shear walls (dual system)
Moment resistant frame with shear walls also termed, as dual system is a space frame with
moment resistant joints, strengthened by shear walls to assist in carrying out horizontal loads.
This shear wall – frame interactive system, is considered as the best structural system for
reinforced concrete multi-storey structures in region of high seismcity. This system combines
the gravity load carrying qualities of frames with the lateral load resisting quality of the shear
walls. Fig 3 shows reinforced concrete shear walls in buildings.

2.4. Interaction between shear wall and frame
The interaction between the frame and the shear wall reduces the lateral deflection of the
structural wall at the top, while the wall helps in supporting the frame near the base. In the
building, in plane rigidity of the floor slab forces the deflection of the walls and the frames to
be identical at each storey level. To force the wall and the frame into the same deflected
shape, internal forces are generated that equalizes the deflected shape, of each. Thus the frame
in the upper stories pulls back the wall while in lower stories the wall pushes back the frame.
These internal forces shown in Fig 4

Shear wall greatly reduces the deflection of the overall combine system, creating a
considerably overall higher stiffness than the sum of the individual components, each
resisting a portion of exterior loads. In this distinctive feature of increasing the stiffness
through a set of internal forces lies the great advantage of shear wall frame interactive
systems. Like columns shear wall also resist the vertical loads in addition to lateral loads.
The biggest qualification of this system of shear wall frame is in the interaction and due to
the lateral rigidity provided by the shear walls the inter storey displacements are reduced and
thus, it minimizes the non-structural damages and gives a better performance from the point
of view of damage control.
In dual system as explained above the frame and wall combination should be designed to
carry the total lateral force due to earthquake acting on the building. The frame acting alone
should be designed to resist at least 25 percent of the total lateral force, even if the shear walls
share more than 75 % of the total lateral force. This is to take care of the effect of
displacement during earthquake.
The shear walls should extend from the foundation either up to top of the building or to a
lesser height as required from design consideration. Care should be taken to see that the
discontinuity in the shear wall does not produce sudden reduction in stiffness of the structure
and can cause soft storey or weak storey.
3. FORMULATION OF CASE STUDY
3.1. General Information of case study building
For the purpose of case study the apartment building having 4 flats on each story located at
Ahmedabad region was taken
3.2. Methodology of Analysis
Analysis is done in Staad Pro 2003 and Staad Pro 2005 Software. Building modelled as 3D
frame with Shear wall as plate element. Base Shear is applied as per IS 1893-2002. Base shear
is distributed as storey shear. Every floor slab is considered as infinitely rigid. For considering
rigidity of slab master slave command is used. Support condition is taken as Hinge for column
and Shear walls. Study is carried out for Seismic Zones III, IV and V.

Loadings
Slab loading specified in terms of floor load command for two way distribution loading
Wall load specified in terms of member loading
Self-weight of columns and beams specified in terms of self-weight command
Earth quake analysis
Earth quake loading is specified in terms of code 1893 -2002 parameter related to zone
factors.
Dead load and % of live loads are used to find out base shear.
Load combinations are specified for all load specifications
Location of shear wall is finalized after placing shear wall in different locations. Shear
wall having lesser length and attracting more than 75% of base shear as per code
requirement is selected.
In our case study buildings are symmetrical about both axes except mass of stair case is
only unsymmetrical which generate eccentricity of 2 Cms only between centre of mass and
centre of rigidity. Space frame analysis is performed which takes care of eccentricity
3.3. Case Study
For the purpose of case study the apartment building having 4 flats on each story located at
Pune region was taken. The case is existing building. Following are silent features of case
study.
This building is G+3 storey residential building. Four flats on each storey.
Floor area of each floor is = 296.6 m2
Total built up area of the building = 1186.4m2
Total height of building including OHWT is 15.82 m
The structural plan of the selected building has been decided as shown in figure 5

The structural plan of the selected building has been decided as shown in figure5
3.5. General Analytical approach / assumption used
Building is considered for same seismic zones as well as having same wind velocity.
3-D analysis is done on computer using software STAAD PRO. 2003 & STAAD PRO.

Shear walls are modelled as plate element. Soil condition is assumed as medium soil having
soil bearing capacity is assumed is 180 kN/m2
. Centre line dimensions / diagrams is
considered for columns, beams and walls in computer analysis. In EQ load combinations, the
allowable bearing pressure in the soil increased 25% in case of combined RCC footing with
slab beam.In case shear wall with frame analysis case dual system is used so two systems are
designed resist the total design force in proportion to their stiffness considering the interaction
of the dual at all floor levels. Response reduction factor is taken 5 for all cases as ductility
criteria are to be satisfied.
3.6. Methodology of Design
Shear wall is provided with initial size in two directions and location in plan such that large
eccentricity „e‟ from C.G. and C.R. does not generated. Design of shear wall, shear wall
footing and column footing is done with Excel spreadsheet, Beam and column design is done
with Staad Pro and same also checked with Excel spread sheets. Design and detail of various
elements is done. Quantities of materials is found out from drawings. Cost analysis for
different cases with and without shear wall is prepared and compared with basic rates in
Ahmedabad. Conclusion is worked out from Cost analysis.

4. CONCLUSIONS
(1) From above case study we can conclude that the shear wall is costly in zone III but total
structural cost of building is not exceeding 10%
(2) In case 1 Building with shear wall for Zone IV is costly up to 0.79%
(3) In case study shear wall is Economical for zone V
