NLP WORKSHOP for the TRAINING OF TRAINERS Neuro-Linguistic Programme 10th June2019-Linguistic Programming is a model about human behavior. It is not a theory because a theory must be proved. On the other hand a model merely has to be tested and if the model yields consistent results; it qualifies as a working model.
Every model is based on pre-suppositions which are assumed to be true. The presuppositions
for any given model are fine tuned till such time that the model yields
consistent results.
1. Everyone lives in and operates from his/her own unique model of the world.
2. People always make the best choices available to them, given their unique model of the world and the situation.
3. There is a desirable solution/possible outcome to every problem.
4. Each person is equipped with everything he/she needs to solve his/her
problems.
5. It is important to separate and distinguish a person from his/her behavior.
When someone is learning something new, it is useful to evaluate the
behaviors while holding constant a positive evaluation of self.
6. All behaviors that people exhibit are motivated by a positive intention or purpose.
Presented during the 2019 Bonner Summer Leadership Institute at Waynesburg University by Luke C. Payson (Waynesburg University). This workshop discussed strategies to thrive in the face of anxiety.
I decided to carry out an experiment and transfer already created content into different medium. This E-Book exploring 9 steps to combat stress originated in my blog and later was republished on LinkeIn. All for the good cause.
This presentation by Morris Kleiner (University of Minnesota), was made during the discussion “Competition and Regulation in Professions and Occupations” held at the Working Party No. 2 on Competition and Regulation on 10 June 2024. 3. We generally use the word "stress" when we
feel that everything seems to have become too
much - we are overloaded and wonder whether
we really can cope with the pressures placed
upon us.
4. Stress is a feeling that’s
created when we react to
particular events.
Anything that poses a challenge
or a threat to our well being is
a stress.
Stress is often termed as a twentieth century syndrome, born
out of man's race towards modern progress and its ensuing
complexities.
- BENJAMIN FRANKLIN
6. Causes of Stress
Job Insecurity
High Performance Demand
Bad Boss
Workplace Culture
Personal or Family Problems
Technology
7.
8. Eustress, or positive stress, has
the following characteristics:
• Motivates, focuses energy
• Is short-term
• Is perceived as within our
coping abilities
• Feels exciting
• Improves performance
10. In contrast, Distress or negative stress, has the
following characteristics:
•Causes anxiety or concern
•Can be short- or long-term
•Is perceived as outside of our coping abilities
•Feels unpleasant
•Decreases performance
•Can lead to mental and physical problems
14. The Three Eye Theory of Stress Management
We see the world with two eyes but an inner eye processes the
input. I call the inner eye perception.
It is not surprising that two people gazing at a large sea swell can
see it in quite different ways. One sees the swell as excellent
for surfing while the other sees it as a danger to be avoided at
all costs.
This perception-variance is not produced by the two eyes in the
front of the head but by the inner eye of perception. Information
passing through our eyes is filtered by the brain.
If you would like to get a real feel for how the brain processes
information that flows through the eyes look at the object
below. This object, called a Necker Cube, will involuntarily
change from time to time as you study it.
15.
16. If the brain flips a simple object around what does it do to
more complex objects?
Changing perception begins when you ask yourself this
question:
“Is there another way of looking at this?“
If you find it difficult to get a new perspective then ask others
what they think – what they are seeing. Knowledge gained in
this way will certainly give you some different views.
Effective personal stress management always involves the
third eye of perception.
So take a daily hassle and get a new perspective on it and see
if you can make it irrelevant.
17.
18.
19.
20.
21.
22.
23.
24. If you look at these and they are not moving, that means you are
relaxed.
If you look at these and they are moving slowly or even moderately,
you are a little bit stressed.
If you look at these and they are moving fast, it means that you are
seriously feeling the stress. Take a chill pill immediately.
The really crazy part is that when I relaxed and took a long deep
breath, they stopped moving.
When I purposely thought about something stressful, they started
moving fast.
Once again it goes to show how powerful our brain is, and how what
you are seeing with your eyes may not be what the person next to
you sees.
32. That's right, folks, do
nothing at all. Close the
door, open the window,
have a seat, and take a
little break from life. If
your mind is racing, learn
to meditate and just let that
stress go.
Do nothing.
