Four Simple Tips for Using Time Out to Correct BehaviorBeth Grosshans
After more than 25 years of practice as a clinical child psychologist in New Jersey, Beth Grosshans retired from active practice to focus on speaking and writing to parents and educators about issues, such as child discipline and development. Drawing on her experience operating her practice, Beth Grosshans also wrote the book "Beyond Time Out: From Chaos to Calm," in which she asserts that parents must take back parental control in order to help children with behavioral issues and anxiety.

The Great State of Design with CSS Grid Layout and FriendsStacy Kvernmo
For far too long we've been forced to reuse layout patterns that have worked in the past, creating a web full of sites that all look the same. Narrow timelines, browser support restrictions and lack of a true grid system have led us to create work that is "good enough".
I've spent years exploring how we can make the web a more unique space. With some of the newer CSS techniques available, we can start to make more creative designs. CSS Grid Layout is on the horizon and will play a major role in the design of our sites. Finally having a true, 2 dimensional grid will give our layouts much more flexibility and it is on us to explore the possibilities.
This talk was presented at CSS Day 2016.
Each technological age has been marked by a shift in how the industrial platform enables companies to rethink their business processes and create wealth. In the talk I argue that we are limiting our view of what this next industrial/digital age can offer because of how we read, measure and through that perceive the world (how we cherry pick data). Companies are locked in metrics and quantitative measures, data that can fit into a spreadsheet. And by that they see the digital transformation merely as an efficiency tool to the fossil fuel age. But we need to stretch further…
If your child experiences anxiety, there are practical, powerful techniques they can learn RIGHT NOW to reduce worry and manage stress. As a parent, there are many tools you also have at your disposal to help. Here are 8 ways to help an anxious child. Visit: http://www.gozen.com
Parents often feel helpless when their child suffers from anxiety. Many times it's not clear WHY they are worried about things when you reassure them there is nothing to worry about. Learn why in this short presentation and gain 8 tips to help from www.gozen.com
Most of us are not accustomed to paying attention but it is the secret of many successful and famous people. As we grow from children (the time when attention is our natural state) to adulthood we are organized by family, school and peers. Our subconscious mind is not ours. As we grow older, we are exposed to the relentless onslaught of fear and indifference to our constant media that causes us to become depressed and anxious over ignorance.
If you are careful you can see that these external pressures do not matter. It’s just a white noise that you need to re-train yourself to feel at a level of awareness and let go immediately before you get into your credibility.
Awareness is peace. This can easily be achieved by practicing it over time. Suggested here are some steps to help you.
Stay away from activities that have nothing to do with anxiety or past or future. These reminders do not help you but they do appear to be debilitating and destructive. They manifest themselves in thoughts that may not be possible.
Meditate. Meditation has become one of the most amazing and easy ways to become mentally alert. It may take 5 minutes or an hour. You choose the amount of time you want to meditate. Start with 5 minutes and build.
Using mind tools you can really speed things up. Meditation creates a peaceful atmosphere that can last a long time. The more you meditate, the longer the meditation moments take as you retrain your unconscious mind. Meditation has been scientifically proven to help people suffering from depression. Safe and non-invasive.
If you feel anxious you can release this quickly and be mentally quick. It takes a little practice but it is worth the results. Just close your eyes and take a deep breath and exhale. Increased air intake has been proven to relax and rejuvenate the mind. Do this to the best of your ability. You don’t really need to close your eyes but I find that it really speeds things up. However, if you are in a situation where closing your eyes is unsafe or possible, just take a deep breath and feel the excitement. You should find it difficult to re-create the anxiety you had in the last few minutes.
If this article raises concerns about you or your loved ones levels of concern or depression please contact your healthcare provider in your region or country.

WHAT IS ANXIETY?
Anxiety is the stress response to anticipated danger.
Anxiety issues influence one out of eight youngsters. It has turned into a rising issue for youngsters, guardians, and instructors. While numerous youngsters anticipate school, a few kids fear it. Anxious children get through excruciating, awkward episodes of apprehension, touchiness, and terrifying considerations. They frequently find it hard to zero in on their everyday schedule may much of the time whine of sickness, like cerebral pains or stomachaches. Untreated anxious children are at a higher gamble of participating in substance misuse.

Title: Sense of Smell
Presenter: Dr. Faiza, Assistant Professor of Physiology
Qualifications:
MBBS (Best Graduate, AIMC Lahore)
FCPS Physiology
ICMT, CHPE, DHPE (STMU)
MPH (GC University, Faisalabad)
MBA (Virtual University of Pakistan)
Learning Objectives:
Describe the primary categories of smells and the concept of odor blindness.
Explain the structure and location of the olfactory membrane and mucosa, including the types and roles of cells involved in olfaction.
Describe the pathway and mechanisms of olfactory signal transmission from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Illustrate the biochemical cascade triggered by odorant binding to olfactory receptors, including the role of G-proteins and second messengers in generating an action potential.
Identify different types of olfactory disorders such as anosmia, hyposmia, hyperosmia, and dysosmia, including their potential causes.
Key Topics:
Olfactory Genes:
3% of the human genome accounts for olfactory genes.
400 genes for odorant receptors.
Olfactory Membrane:
Located in the superior part of the nasal cavity.
Medially: Folds downward along the superior septum.
Laterally: Folds over the superior turbinate and upper surface of the middle turbinate.
Total surface area: 5-10 square centimeters.
Olfactory Mucosa:
Olfactory Cells: Bipolar nerve cells derived from the CNS (100 million), with 4-25 olfactory cilia per cell.
Sustentacular Cells: Produce mucus and maintain ionic and molecular environment.
Basal Cells: Replace worn-out olfactory cells with an average lifespan of 1-2 months.
Bowman’s Gland: Secretes mucus.
Stimulation of Olfactory Cells:
Odorant dissolves in mucus and attaches to receptors on olfactory cilia.
Involves a cascade effect through G-proteins and second messengers, leading to depolarization and action potential generation in the olfactory nerve.
Quality of a Good Odorant:
Small (3-20 Carbon atoms), volatile, water-soluble, and lipid-soluble.
Facilitated by odorant-binding proteins in mucus.
Membrane Potential and Action Potential:
Resting membrane potential: -55mV.
Action potential frequency in the olfactory nerve increases with odorant strength.
Adaptation Towards the Sense of Smell:
Rapid adaptation within the first second, with further slow adaptation.
Psychological adaptation greater than receptor adaptation, involving feedback inhibition from the central nervous system.
Primary Sensations of Smell:
Camphoraceous, Musky, Floral, Pepperminty, Ethereal, Pungent, Putrid.
Odor Detection Threshold:
Examples: Hydrogen sulfide (0.0005 ppm), Methyl-mercaptan (0.002 ppm).
Some toxic substances are odorless at lethal concentrations.
Characteristics of Smell:
Odor blindness for single substances due to lack of appropriate receptor protein.
Behavioral and emotional influences of smell.
Transmission of Olfactory Signals:
From olfactory cells to glomeruli in the olfactory bulb, involving lateral inhibition.
Primitive, less old, and new olfactory systems with different path

Overall life span (LS) was 1671.7±1721.6 days and cumulative 5YS reached 62.4%, 10 years – 50.4%, 20 years – 44.6%. 94 LCP lived more than 5 years without cancer (LS=2958.6±1723.6 days), 22 – more than 10 years (LS=5571±1841.8 days). 67 LCP died because of LC (LS=471.9±344 days). AT significantly improved 5YS (68% vs. 53.7%) (P=0.028 by log-rank test). Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: N0-N12, T3-4, blood cell circuit, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells-CC and blood cells subpopulations), LC cell dynamics, recalcification time, heparin tolerance, prothrombin index, protein, AT, procedure type (P=0.000-0.031). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).

but the brain won't let it happen.
In other words, it is really hard
for your child to think clearly, use
logic or even remember how to
complete basic tasks.
3. What should you do instead of
trying to rationalize the worry
away?
4. Pause and take deep
breath with your child.
It will help to reverse
the nervous system
response.
5. Once your child is calm,
it’s time to figure out
possible solutions.
6. Teach your child that worry is
perfectly normal. Worry is a
protection mechanism.
Worry rings an alarm in our
system and helps us survive
danger.
7. Teach Your Child to Be a Thought
Detective. Teach your child to Think
more positively because that could
calm their worries. But the best
remedy for distorted thinking is not
positive thinking; it's accurate
thinking.
8. Allow your child to worry openly
because it could be helpful.
Everyday tell your child to write
down his or her worries and put it
down in the worry box within
limited time period.When the time
is up, close the box and say good-
bye to the worries for the day.
9. Tell your child to do some mindful
exercise.Mindfulness brings a child from
what if to what is. To do this, help your
child simply focus on their breath for a
few minutes
10. Do your children want to avoid social
events, dogs, school, planes or basically
any situation that causes anxiety? Try a
method we call laddering. Kids who are
able to manage their worry break it down
into manageable chunks. Laddering uses
this chunking concept and gradual
exposure to reach a goal.
